  1. Thanks Stripey/Steve, I was up till 0230 last night meddling with the F6 so felt ever minute of 35 this morning! Had a great day with my family and then my Sister and Her Husband and my niece and Nephew and my Mum and Dad. I tend to reflect on the previous year each birthday and on reflection I'm blessed to have such and a great family and so many good friends.

  2. Do they do a suede protectant? WDYDTYCT? #Tomorow...dropping it off a the panel shop to the get the geriatric tattoo repaired and the rest of the paint refreshed....Im stressing as the only hands that touch my cars are my own. The idea of it being out of my possession unsettles me greatly. #Today finished off my retro alpine install, an MRP-F240 4Ch amp to drive the SPS-171 component fronts and Model number I have forgotten co-axial rears (same vintage as the SPS-171's) and an MRP-F350 Monoblock driving a punchy 10" S-drive sub. A IDE-178BT is providing the signals. I def got value for money from the speakers/amps they started life in the purpo ute, spent some time in the blue meanie and now live in the F6. #recycle/reuse/reduce

  3. Have driven the car all weekend and everything seems to be settled in very well.. No dramas at all and the rear end really holds down well now, instead of ending up sideways in first and second when launching it, car seems to just hold the rear straight now and progresses to the next gear. A major improvement on traction and no more broken diff bush ever again. Anybody thinking of doing these mods, its well worth it

  6. Hey guys, Finally got around to fitting my 1400Hp CV's and hub kits, Eaton Truetrac, Nolathane Side bushes and Dual Diff Bush Hat Upgrade Kit. Rear end is so refined now, its completely transformed the car and no increase in NVH, its actually quieter now. Enjoy..

  8. Where do you calibrate your eyes for a visual inspection? Heads need more than a visual inspection, especially if your building an engine, very least it should be pressure tested/hardness tested, I've always got my valve seats and valves cut, ideally a new set of valves in a perfect world.

  14. Thanks guys . These cars are deceiving , seat of the pants doesn't really tell the full story . It's not until you pull next to another car that you realize how much quicker they are compared to your average quick factory powered car. The standard zf is shifting well , really happy with the latest zf tune that Joe has put in the car.

  15. Having a big shed clean out today to make space for the new race trailer and thought I might as well offload these things. KPM Streetfighter intake for my FGII XR6T. Removed because it didn't fit when the new nizpro cooler went in. But should fit with others....should. Makes a great intake sound and is a BIG pod filter. Looks factory with the cover on. $200 and it's yours. Also a 2" lowering block kit. I took them out because I didn't like the feel. TBH, I wouldn't recommend them but they're free if you want to try them out. Next time I trip over them, they'll go in the bin. I also have the complete OEM roll bar thing and tonneu cover with rods and clips, mounts and all the bits. Was on the ute for about a week from brand new until the standard type came in and I switched it out then sprayed the bar with wd40 and bubble wrapped it and put the tarp and bits into the box the new one came in. So you could pretty much call it brand new. I'm sure it'll fit a FG, dunno about BF. Prob not. $350 the lot. I'm home all day so call over and have a look.

  16. I left my car sitting on them all night, cause was to lazy after a few beers. When I did role car back this morning I inspected and there was no stress mark or the like on them. I'd be happy to use them to lift car no probs while working on it. I will put the jack under for secondary precaution and chock rears. Cause you never know!

  17. Is that SL? I've always been under the impression SL is standard XR height. Which is already lower than a cab pack fg falcon. You really need SSL. But a read through your posts says you had them and they dropped to 330ish? I really think these springs are crap. I happen to literally live around the corner from Eibach, I went and saw them when my first set dropped in the arse. Asked if they can do me some. Unfortunately they said they never had the market for the falcon so never did them, meaning he can't do me any as they have no data. Other option is run the SSL again, if they drop to 335 again, (mine haven't) you can then use a superpro 10mm spring seat to bring it back up. Not that you should have to do that.

  19. Yeah sweet as man, forgot you're a FIFO man. Should start a WA XR6T forum FIFO golf group to play during the week.I played at Collier Park, Island 9. Maylands is a hard course though dude! I've only played there once and if you land in the trees it's hard to get back out. Oh and no probs mate. When you letting everyone else know? [emoji6] First time I've played in nearly a year though, so just gotta start trying to play once or twice a break again and maybe get some lessons. Did hit some great shots that I was stoked with, but also lost 3 balls into water etc...overall pretty poor golf. Kinda played Ambrose on a couple of holes, given it was just a practice game really.

  20. I did 67 shots for 9 holes last week Thursday arvo after work on the maylands coarse. Worst damn golf game I have ever played. Constant 9 shots per hole almost. Too damn stressed out. I bet you never played that bad Dan. Ohh before I forget once again. Thanks a million.

  21. Unfortunately it is the vulnerable (usually the elderly) in our society who fall for this. My old man fell for it a couple of years ago - was downloading the software when my nephew walked in and immediately disconnected the computer from the power. The bastards rang back abusing my dad saying the process was incomplete, my nephew gave them an earful and hung up. Luckily no harm was done. Just reformatted and reinstalled the computer.

  28. They dont call me anymore. I used to do 1 of the following: - just leave the phone on the bench and dont hang up, but it is not that much fun; - I thank them for advising me of this problem and tell them that I am a budding computer programmer and straight after dinner I am going to create my own virus busting program to fix the problem; - String them on for 30 mins or so telling them that my pc / laptop is Windows based, then I tell them it os Mac based so they transfer me to another department. String this apartment along for 20 to 30 mins then tell them that my pc is windows based. They usually have the sh*ts by then and hang up and dont call back. I only do the third option on a Friday or Saturday night if I am having a few quiet ones out the back. Have'nt heard back form them for ages. Luke G

  29. I'm the same Ralph , absolutely stresses me out having to hand over my car to other people. I hate it, really really hate it! Not sure why though, never been able too figure that one out. Even when I take the car to get tyres fitted I hang around like a bad smell. Anyway hope you had a great birthday and thanks for the info and tips you've provided me since I've been here on the forum, cheers [emoji1]

  35. a patch up job is not a complete rebuild, an engine builder may dummy fit the engine 3 or 4 times before final assembly, there is time involved getting things to the correct thousands of an inch

  39. This guy.... Started High school a couple of weeks ago and had his school swimming carnival on yesterday. He's done bugger all swimming in the last couple of months so he was worried about how he would perform (there's 7 classes in his year, big school) so he asked me what he should enter. I said, enter everything and make pain your friend! Well I was sort of joking when I said it, but he took me literally. Anyway he smashed it! Entered half a dozen races, never finished worse than 3rd and got a few 1st places, against some of his mates that have been training their arses off. He's off to district carnival next week. Very proud of his effort [emoji7]

  40. Cooling system issue (ie dud headgasket/Leaky Rad/etc etc etc) Hole in the cap will stop the system pressuring and can stop coolant leaking past the headgasket etc....but can also cause the car to overheat as it lowers the boiling point of the coolant AVOID

  45. rrp is $1815. Look, if hadn't have been such a dick and thought I had to have a 62mm wheeled turbo just 'because' knowing my goal was always in that 350 range on pump, I would've saved myself a world of hurt. Also, with the ongoing rollout of e85 (I've got the race blend stuff now 5klm away) for the vast majority of us, the little GTX is the perfect choice. The things make 400+ on sugar and retain the mad spool of the little turbo. The 'headroom' argument unless going built motor and 450+ just isn't valid in this space. The biggest winners for me of this turbo is B series owners. They get to experience what us F series owners have been banging on about for years. Essentially, bringing the car alive down low and as much, or more top end than the 35/40. The PT6235 has given that also but it's near a 2k turbo and there are still question marks over their reliability. Time will tell. At $1375, I'd jump on one and put it under the tree for chrissy boys. It's at about that 'one night on the couch' price point, for us married poor unfortunates, if you go full disclosure. In my case, the car is just super 'unreliable' and its been at the shop all this week for a cold start adjustment baha!

  47. I called a couple of motor trimmers who both confirmed that once the material begins to sag there is no effective permanent fix. The same information is also widely available from the web pages of motor trimming shops around the world. The issue is that foam backing on the headliner (rather than the headling fabric or the adhesive) breaks down after a time (8-10 years seems to be the magic number) due to heat cycling, thereby leaving the adhesive with no attachment point. Since the foam liner on the headling material is the culpable agent ( not the adhesive nor the headling material itself) a reasonable question to ask is why does the car industry bother with such a delicate (crap) solution? The reason is the foam headling, it seems, produces a more professional finish and it is by all accounts much easier to apply. In addition to the foam lining adds some heat and noise insulation to the cabin roof. The fix options are: go OEM or equivalent foam backed headling fabric. This stuff runs out at about US$16-20 per lineal metre. go OEM quality foam backed headlining but in a different colour, texture or pattern. The sky is the limit here. One can have pretty much any colour or texture or pattern including: metallic, camo print, tiger print, snake skin... up to and including a... Union Jack. The price is about the same as the standard stuff. go foam backed (Not Alcantara) suede or faux leather. Again the price is about the same as the standard stuff. go Alcantara. (as per Bentley and Ferrari).. which is approx AU$100 per lineal meter. (Our cars need about 4 meters). Note Alcantara is available is suitable weights for headlining, however, the materials is not foam backed and it may or may not need additional foam backing.
