  1. Hey all, im half way through the conversion I think. I’ve got the box and motor In the car taken out the old body loom, need to go pick the new one up tomorrow. But that’s all I need to get the car running right? At the moment I have: -engine/zf6 -engine/box loom (body loom picking up tomorrow) -same ecu that matches the tcm -tailshaft Some people are saying that I need to get the key reprogrammed, need to change the pedal box aswell plus floor plate. Am I able to get some expertise advice on how to crack on with this. It’s only been about 30 hrs since I’ve started and need to get it done asap… Thanks to all

Hi all, Am a full newbie to the fordxr6turbo forum, or any forum for that matter, and just thought I'd share my experience in converting my BA mk2 XT wagon into a turbo/manual/lLSD equipped weapon. Got a bit fed up with how much choice Expensive Daewoo fan's have when it comes to a quick wagon and was always pretty cut about ford never making a BA or BF (or even FG) wagon that had some poke. Massive missed opportunity. Anyway, I got a bit of inspo from looking at other members conversions on this forum where they'd converted their taxi's into turbo WMD's and thought I'd give it a red hot crack. So I got excited one night after a couple of bevvy's and found myself as being the proud owner of a beaten up xr6 turbo ute. 5 months later and I can finally say the conversion is complete and the wagon is running sweet as a nut. Completely stock in every way apart from a cold air snorkel from an FPV typhoon and a Turbosmart BOV and Turbosmart Wastegate Actuator. Have no idea what power it's putting out but it's enough for me at the mo. Am looking to get a tune done at some stage in the future but the bank account won't allow that for a while so I'll just keep it as-is for now. I got some gangstaaaaaaaaa wheels for it too and reckon they set the thing off perfectly. Will post again soon to cover off on the issues I ran into along the way. The reason I joined is to share what I came across during the conversion process cause I ran into heaps of conflicting advice from this forum and others and just thought I'd help clear things up where I could.
  3. Hey guys looking for some advice. I converted my BA to a 6 speed manual and am about to wire up a reverse lockout solenoid Control box that actives under 8 kmh. The control box requires input from the vehicle speed sensor VSS. Some cars have this on the gearbox. But with the falcon the speed reads off the wheel bearings and into the abs? Can I tap into the two wire speed sensor from the back of the wheel for my VSS? Will abs affect any of this? Hey guys, hope this can be of help to someone out there. 5 months ago my housemates 09 n/a xr6 5 speed started slipping gears, as most, if not all of you who have had the displeasure of owning one of these time bombs know, the day of the glittery oil pan had come and his 5 speed sh*tbox had come to an end. Myself being an apprentice at the local ford service centre saw this as an opportunity to learn what's involved with a 6 speed conversion. To begin with I already knew on the 6 speed the TCM (trans control module) was built into the box, therefore didn't need any extra plug into the ECU whereas on the 5 speed it didn't have the TCM built in, so it did need the extra plug. We bought a 2012 mk2 6 speed with the tailshaft (slightly shorter than the 5 speed), shift linkage on the side of the box, engine wiring loom, trans cooler and ecu from a wreckers, we fitted all the parts and found that that the holes to bolt the flex plate (also known as flywheel on manual) to the torque converter were 20mm inwards, after a quick ebay search we found the 4 speed and 6 speed have the same flex plate whereas the 5 speed is different, after fixing that and getting it all together the car wouldn't start, we took it to my work and attempted to program it, we had a few codes but the one that stuck out was for the IC (instrument cluster), which was for incorrect vehicle speed input, after that we were stumped, we then searched around everywhere and couldn't find any threads on a conversion being done, we rang a shop in baccus marsh (GW auto care 0455 781 227) who specialise in falcons and fords, who were the only people that genuinely wanted to help us and were very friendly, they told us we need to change the loom that goes from the bottom of the engine bay fuse panel (we changed whole fuse panel) to the back of the interior fuse panel and the loom the plugs into the top front of the engine bay fuse panel and runs around the front of the car all the way to the inside of the passenger footwell (need to take front bumper and both front inner gaurds to access (which is not easy to maneuver but is possible, goodluck), the car finally started, it drives but won't come out of 1st, when shifting to sports, the D symbol on the dash doesn't change to S and doesn't change to 1 or 2 when you shift up or down when at a stop, hope this has helped someone and if anyone can help us get her shifting it would be much appreciated, this is my first post and hopefully not my last, please be kind I'm not an expert so please correct me if I've said anything wrong and please be free to ask questions.   5. hey guys am a new member I have a 85 Xf falcon originally had a 3 speed and a injected 250 then replaced with Carbed 250 then had several diffrent 250s after that (previous owner ) I acquired the car broken few years ago I purchased a ef11 tickford (crashed to steal the sinlge cam and BTR trans out of it , fast forward a few years some serious procrastination LOL have the engine in the car and running have all the fuel system ect all sorted now I am struggling to get the trans to shift at all , few questions I was hoping some one here would have a pin out of the plug or some help lol last thing for the project speed sensor 12v or 5 ? have tps hooked up and powered the solenoids ? suspect this is correct the gear posion switch I seem to have no voltage out of it at all suspect this my issue ?😀
  6. Hi all, I have an 04 RTV auto ute and an 04 XR6 turbo auto sedan. I'm putting the engine, transmission and dash including ICC and steering column from the turbo sedan into the ute. As I'll have the turbo PCM, ICC and steering column including key barrel should the car start and run or will the BCM shut the show down? Should I also swap the BCM from the sedan into the ute? Theoretically it should then start and run? Any issues with having the sedan BCM in a ute? Engine is out and on the floor, FG cams, Atomic springs, 440cc injectors and Hypergear ATR45 turbo hoping for 300kw will post pics once done.
  7. Hi All, First time forum user and first time poster. Just thought I would share with you my pride and joy l. Her name is Pretty Penny and she is a 98 series 1 Nissan GU Patrol with a fully rebuilt 10/06 bf mk2 xr6 turbo engine. I do not really know much about these engines and had never even been in an xr6turbo before I was purchasing the engine. It wasnt till the guy I bought the engine off took me for a drive in his stock vehicle so I can see that the motor was ok before purchasing... Anyway looking forward to learning alot more about these engines as I am attempting to push the boundaries with what I can do with this beast of a rig. So far I have toured through the victorian high country on numerous occasions and have even jumped on the spirit of tassie and tackled the wild west coast of tasmania in easter whilst avoiding the bitumen for the entirety of the trip. I had a lot of 4wd people tell me diesel is the way to go for a 4wd but for those ignarnt enough to think this I beg the to jump in a barra powered patrol and tell me whether they still think that. The problem I have though is this. Given I dont know much about them I am hoping to hear from you lot on what you think my engine should safely produce to the wheels (stock 31s) with the mods I have done. Forged carillo pistons Argo rod Billet oil pump gears Valve springs Atomic chain kit 1000cc injectors Crow cams Standard bf turbo (not sure what hp they are rated too) Turbo flapper mod Standard new wastegate with upgraded spring (no idea what it is) Front mount intercooler Airbox Tune (remap) 460 in tank walbro There may be a few more mods I have mised but its also paired up to a fully rebuilt fully manualised RE4 Auto rated to 1000hp which is paired up to a bm stealth pro ratchet shifter.... Can anyone advise to me what power they think I am capable of pulling to the wheels in (rwkw) on 98 pump fuel and what they think I can pull on e85 if I went flex fuel... Also not looking at upgrading turbo so what power to the wheels should my turbo be able to produce and will my engine and 98 pump fuel cope/acheive it ? Thanks in advance

  9. I've just purchased a completely stock 04 ba xr6 n/a I have a worked bf f6 motor apparently to about 450 rwhp with all the loom ECu etc, just looking for advice reccomendations and possible problems I might encounter with my conversion
  10. I’ve seen quite a few threads on swapping a FG into a BA bolting up to the Btr auto. But what would be involved putting a ZF along with the FG in a BA? would it require an FG ecu, pcm, driveline? Cheers
  11. Hi everyone well I already own a wrecked ba xr6t with all parts perfect except right hand door and dashboard and have a ba xr6 that needs new engine trans rear sub frame now that parts sorted. After I swap my engine rear sub frame and transmission into the standard xr6 can I just swap computers and turn it on or do I have to change all my looms as well ?? Please help
  12. Hi guys, new here. I'm doing a FG long block into BA conversion also a t5 to t56. The engine harness is for a ZF 6 speed auto, but my BA ECU is tuned for a t5 manual. Will it be okay to run with the automatic connections taped up? Or will the Canbus wiring cause trouble?
  13. I've seen a few FG's running around that have had an FGX front end conversion done. Is it literally a straight swap over being that they are relatively the same platform? I know it would probably be easier to just buy an fgx but the turbo utes are holding their value. Wanting to know if I could just get a wrecked fgx and do a straight swap pretty much. Cheers Legends
  14. HI, I have a question which noone including google is not able to answer. Torque Management or Torque reduction. Is it active in the pcm on a 02 ba running a BTR trans. If so, how does it measure torque output?
  15. Hi all, I am now about 75% through my project of fitting late model running gear into a 1966 Mustang Coupe. Engine: Ford Barra 270t Gearbox: ZF 6 speed To share my progress along the way I have built a website to capture it all. It will be updated as the project continues. If anyone has questions I am happy to answer them. Hopefully the site will give some inspiration to others trying a conversion a little bit different or with the Fg setup.   17. Hey guys. Ive got a hold of a t56 conversion kit to turn my 03 ba 4spd sedan into something a bit more fun to drive. I have got everything except this conversion I got was from a ute. The tailshaft obviously doesnt work but can I swap the front section of the manual ute shaft with rear section of my auto sedan shaft. I see my sedan has the uni joint at the centre bearing and the ute one has a cv. Is it that simple or is it best to source another tailshaft Thanks
  18. Hi Guys, I have just finished changing my na ute to turbo. I removed the old na engine and looms, fuse box, ecu and swaped with turbo stuff. After all that I had my ecu programmed and off I go. The ute is a pretty fast ride now though I do have one issue. The doner car was 4 speed automatic and so is mine. I have used all the looms from that very same car. I am using my na auto for now, but when connecting the turbo engine loom to my auto I noticed that there are 2 plugs and not 3 as my old motor loom has. My old loom has a black plug, a round clear/white plug and a three pinned plug (which is the speed sensor plug) I have unrapped the turbo loom and found 2 wires that go to this plug arnt there though there is a grey bridged wire that is. Without this speed sensor connected my car is in third gear, limp mode, does not shift gears from third and wont rev above 3000rpms. The dash D is also flashing. My question is do you know how to wire my speed sensor and to where ? Its just 2 wires that are not connected of the three that are meant to be. Attached is a picture I found on the net of the plug I refur to which is bottom right. The plug has three wires brown, purple/white, grey (which is connected. but the picture shows a reverse sensor which my box does not have.and other plugs which mine dosent need. My ute is ford xr6 2002 ba with a 2005 xr6t motor.
  19. Hi guys, I was at a trade show last night and seen some of these LED globe replacements for I think its H4 lights. Just wondering if anyone has seen and used them and what they are like to use. Also are they legal or like the HID kits illegal. This is a kit similar to the one I seen. Hey guys, I've had a mate who's got a 335GT engine and drivetrain he's looking to get rid of and I'm wondering if it's possible to throw it into my BA? it would come with the ecu and dif as well. I know it's a big job and most likely not possible but if it is I'd be doing it.... Any idea's? BTW if there's a thread already open on this I can't find it.....
  21. I'm doing some research into upgrading my BA turbo's transmission to the 6 speed manual and I'm not sure where to start or who's reputable in the VIC south eastern suburbs. What's a rough price for the full conversion? does the diff and clutch need to be replaced as well? Any advice would be appreciated
