  1. Hi all, Am a full newbie to the fordxr6turbo forum, or any forum for that matter, and just thought I'd share my experience in converting my BA mk2 XT wagon into a turbo/manual/lLSD equipped weapon. Got a bit fed up with how much choice Expensive Daewoo fan's have when it comes to a quick wagon and was always pretty cut about ford never making a BA or BF (or even FG) wagon that had some poke. Massive missed opportunity. Anyway, I got a bit of inspo from looking at other members conversions on this forum where they'd converted their taxi's into turbo WMD's and thought I'd give it a red hot crack. So I got excited one night after a couple of bevvy's and found myself as being the proud owner of a beaten up xr6 turbo ute. 5 months later and I can finally say the conversion is complete and the wagon is running sweet as a nut. Completely stock in every way apart from a cold air snorkel from an FPV typhoon and a Turbosmart BOV and Turbosmart Wastegate Actuator. Have no idea what power it's putting out but it's enough for me at the mo. Am looking to get a tune done at some stage in the future but the bank account won't allow that for a while so I'll just keep it as-is for now. I got some gangstaaaaaaaaa wheels for it too and reckon they set the thing off perfectly. Will post again soon to cover off on the issues I ran into along the way. The reason I joined is to share what I came across during the conversion process cause I ran into heaps of conflicting advice from this forum and others and just thought I'd help clear things up where I could.
  2. G'day all, after basking in the glory of many-a-single-pegger, I've finally had enough and decided to throw an LSD into the wags. I'm looking at changing the diff to a limited slip M86 out of a turbo ute and was wondering if the current driveshaft would fit. It's a 2005 BA MK2 Futura wagon with the standard 4 speed BTR. I'd be looking at ripping a diff out of a 4spd ute, if that makes a difference.
  3. Hi everyone, Firstly thanks for having me here. There's some great info going around on this site that is always a brilliant help. I have a BA Wagon. The diff is making hellish noises. Instead of repair I'm looking to replace and upgrade from the M78 (3.23) to a M86 LSD (3.45, Maybe even a 3.9 in time). I know from a turbo manual wagon build on https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/94126-ba-xt-mk2-turbo-wagon-conversion/ (great piece of writing that is!) that I can replace my prop/tail shaft from the one piece to the two piece (ute) by cutting threads in the holes for the centre bearing. And then measure and cut the end piece to shorten and fit. Is there any reason why a sedan prop/tail shaft wouldn't fit? Thus not having to cut it shorter. What am I missing? UJ's not flexible enough due to it being a cradle diff? TIA, George
  4. Hi everyone sorry for my shocking spelling but am typing this off my phone. Hi everyone I have a 2003 Ford ba Futara wagon and I am in the process of turboing it anyways iv been seeing a lot of people slapping turbos on the na fords and thought to myself what a good idea. soniv done some research on the topic and watched countless amounts of videos on it and also hearing a lot of success story’s on all the forums, so I decided to give it ago as I have mechanical knowledge I decided to give it my best shot. I acquired all if not more than enough parts to get this working. so a week ago I started to dismantle the engine and I removed the whole n/a parts and have replaced everything with turbo running gear from a donor car I have then installed turbo, dump pipe, fuel pressure reg, drivers side loom steering Colum, radio and blue box cars main computer in engine bay and attached the 3rd plug for the turbo computer, 2 bar maf sensor and have kept the n/a engine loom but have hard wired and matched the colours for the 2 bar maf sensor. I am using the factory crossover and Bov I have all turbo intercooler piping installed and sensors. im using factory coils and plugs. key and remote have been matched to the car and locks and unlocks. anyways I have tried to start my ba and it goes to fire but then stalls, it fires once then nothing it won’t stay idleing I have tried to diagnose what the hell is wrong with it but no luck. everything seems to be right? Iv tried to run the na computer and no maf at all but still nothing? local mechanic said if I have all the computers keys and parts from same car there shouldn’t be an issue with it... sorry guys dragging on a in a bit but trying to explain in as much detail as possible when I go to start the car it fires up but dies. do I need to get a sct flash tool? or anybody have had this problem before?
  5. Hi Guys, As the title states I'm hoping someone on here can answer a few questions about the conversion I'm about to undertake on my BF wagon. I've already purchased a wrecked BF turbo 6speed manual ute from the auctions to donate engine, diff and other bits and pieces into the goon, note I still want to retain the btr not the manual tranny. The main problem I've got is what PCM can I use in the goon? I talked to the tuner I'll be taking it to after the conversion is finished and he told me to use the turbo computer as it obviously has the ability to control the wastegate, and I also noticed 2 relays in the fusebox for controlling thermo's rather than the single relay in the goon. I've emailed someone regarding flashing the ute pcm to hopefully control the btr but apparently can't be done. So I asked if I could use the PCM out of a 6speed auto, which apparently the answer is no as well. Which leads me to thinking I have to use the PCM out of a BA, but from what I understand the BA only uses 1 knock sensor instead of 2 in the BF (possibly other features different as well) So am I better to use the BA PCM, or use the current NA PCM in the goon with aftermarket boost control or something else? If the BA PCM is the way to go will it be able to be succesfully coded to the bf bcm/icc? Hope this all makes sense, just want to get this all sorted before I start pulling the goon apart as its my work car. TIA, Dean
