We should drive somewhere, as a group. Discuss.
  6. Its very different to "back in the day". The cars are a lot safer (airbags, crumple zones, dsc, etc). The forces in a crash however are always the the same (fundamentally). 100km/h is 100km/h whether you've got 5kw or 500
  7. Just to weigh in on a matter completely non-engine, the OP has stated he wants a car with Nav. IMO there's no choice beyond that-you have to get a MkII as the MkI sat nav was almost as bad as fords marketing strategy. So either give up on you factory Nav idea, get a MkI something and aftermarket Nav, or it's MkII for you buddy. For me it's F6 until the next update, then the V8 and all the other goodies might finally tempt me enough to get out of a MkI. Then again, Micks bag of tricks might help keep me in the 6 for a while.
  8. Easy to replace-just takes a bit of time. I was trying to sell one out of a GTE for a while that I had in my old XR6, still tucked away in the garage but not the colour you need unfortunately. There's a write up somewhere on how to do it if you don't think you can figure it out yourself, I think it's on ford forums, but it is definitely doable with patience
  9. We've been begging product development to at least offer a choice for the next update-it looks miles better and make life easier in manufacturing (beige+any dirt=freaking nightmare)
  10. They've got the piano black ICC facia too. The only thing missing from Ford's usual "limited edition" bag of tricks is the limited edition badge on the boot: Change colour of various bumper inserts and grille - check Add piano black ICC - check Shadow accents on rims - already there (leaving the red out of this) Add limited edition badge on boot - well I spose there's an Arse-Pec one instead Getting tired of seeing a new "limited edition" coming down the line every 2 months. How can you launch a new series (FG mk2) and need a limited edition 2 months later-isn't that just admitting that all of this stuff should have been there all along? Don't hope for anything extra special until 2014
  11. Hand built? This is mass production champ, nothing hand built about it. Assembled by hand yes, but so is almost all of the final assembly of a vehicle. The only robotics in final assembly are for the glass, otherwise the automation is all in body structure and paint. And for that matter we put the seats in (by hand, with lift rigs and nut runners, not sidchrome socket sets) on the other side of the road. Cars leave ford minus wheels, bumpers, rockers, spoilers, front grille, some IC piping, the V8 airbox, the LHS of the V8 exhaust, stripes, starter button, all badging, plus the little stuff like the owners manual and leather wallet for it. Anyone who's visited FPV can see this from the cars prior to the start of their process. Tab/Dags, FPV still build the V8 from the block up at Campbellfield. There's even a video on youtube ffs. This engine line will need to move to Geelong. The F6 engine already hails from there, despite what some articles have stated.
  12. The spelling mistakes in this thread make my head hurt. Aurion, Taurus. And as for the future of FPV post falcon, I thought that was now obvious. FPV are no longer a seperate entity, GTs will roll down the line in broady with wheels and bumpers etc fitted instead of sending them across the road, FPV product is locked in to a falcon only situation because it is no longer a seperate group. Focuses, fiestas, whatevers, will continue to be imported from overseas, and the go fast versions will carry the global badging, as they should. FPV was always relevant only to the local operation, and now it's 100% part of it and will surely suffer the same fate.
  13. Agree-great night, glad we could support Craig even in a small way. Headline act looked like he'd been drinking since midday lol, and he wasn't that funny, and it was past my bedtime cause I'm an old man now Highlight of the night was Garry's wireless Internet lol.
  14. August 30 2012 Team, Today we are joining with Prodrive (our partners in Ford Performance Vehicles) to announce a significant change to the way the FPV business is managed and run. As of this week, we have entered into an MOU for Ford to purchase the assets of Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) required to engineer, manufacture and market FPV vehicles in Australia. While customers will experience no difference to their interactions with the FPV brand, development, production and marketing of FPV vehicles will move to our Geelong and Campbellfield operations. Until now, FPV has operated under a Joint Venture agreement between Prodrive (51%) and Ford Australia (49%). The change follows a review by both the partners of the FPV business which concluded that the current business situation was unsustainable in the long-term. As a result of that review, Prodrive made the decision to exit the performance car market at the end of 2012 and we determined that we would continue with the brand alone. Although the additional work at both our sites will offset the need for a small number of our previously announced redundancies, unfortunately this change will see approximately 32 FPV staff become redundant at the end of 2012. All entitlements and other benefits for those staff will be provided. We know that you will respect those employees as they work through this transition. A copy of our media release is below for your information. Thanks again for all you do to build our business. Bob Graziano President & CEO of Ford Australia Ford assumes sole responsibility for Ford Performance Vehicles Ford Australia and Prodrive Automotive Technology Asia Pacific Holdings (Prodrive) have entered into an MOU for Ford to purchase the assets of Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) required to continue engineering, manufacturing and marketing the FPV brand in Australia. Development, production and marketing of FPV vehicles will move to Ford Australia’s Geelong and Campbellfield operations. Customers will experience no difference to their interactions with the FPV brand. MELBOURNE, Australia (Thursday August 30 2012): Ford Australia and Prodrive today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Ford to purchase the assets of FPV required to engineer, manufacture and market the FPV brand in Australia. Negotiations are expected to be completed shortly, with Ford to take responsibility for future activities of FPV from the end of 2012. Ford will become responsible for all future development programs, the manufacture of FPV engines and vehicles, and marketing the FPV brand. Until now, FPV has operated under a Joint Venture agreement between Prodrive (51%) and Ford Australia (49%). The change follows a review by the partners of the FPV business and both partners concluding the current business situation was unsustainable in the long-term. “We recognise the passion and dedication of FPV enthusiasts and their desire to see Ford high-performance vehicles available in the market,” said Ford Australia President & CEO Bob Graziano. “Although this segment of the market is relatively niche, it is an important part of Ford’s performance history and DNA. Both partners have worked hard to ensure the FPV brand can continue to thrive in Australia post the change to our current arrangements.” Production of FPV engines will move to Ford’s Geelong engine plant, while full vehicle assembly will take place at Ford’s Campbellfield plant. The additional work at both sites will offset the need for a small number of the previously announced redundancies across both sites. Unfortunately, although Ford can take on responsibility for the FPV brand and in-source the manufacturing and other work, the change will see approximately 32 FPV staff become redundant at the end of 2012. All entitlements and other benefits for those staff will be provided. “As a result of the business review, Prodrive has made the decision to exit the performance car market at the end of 2012,” said Prodrive Managing Director Bryan Mears. “We have enjoyed great success through our partnership with Ford Australia and look forward to watching the FPV brand continue to thrive in the future.” FPV vehicles will continue to be sold through Ford’s dedicated network of FPV specialist dealers Australia. There will be no change to current service and warranty arrangements. “Our current and future customers should experience little, if any, change to the way they interact with the FPV brand,” said Graziano. “We look forward to continue providing them with the outstanding performance and specialist service they have enjoyed to date.”

    Launch Control

It's not launch control, and the autos do have it-put an auto in neutral and it won't rev past 3500. Not really useful though. Apparently the new R Specs actually have launch control, but I haven't tried it
  16. Rus..ty? No-not familiar with that name... Count me in for dinner Gazzler.
  17. ICC is easy, just need patience!
  18. The auto-ness could be to do with the launch control?
  19. The brembos are black... Looks like I should grab some R-Spec VINs while I can
  20. In response to the op, it sounds like you're enquiring as to the ford software updates. No real functionality updates to the 2008 level software, just some stability stuff. Dealers are the only ones who can do it (apart from the right people from ford hehe). There is no way currently to get anything MkII (software or hardware) in a mkI ICC wise.
  21. The 3 I've seen so far were autos and not sure why anyone would think they wouldn't offer the lazy box? The red looks worse in the flesh
  22. Saw the Black version of the "Panther" today Not a fan
