  1. that's a bit rough, I'd say "going out with nothing left to give" (obviously not from a marketing/finance point of view - they checked out years ago). There'd be a few of you doing your sums to see if you've got the coin to buy a Falcon next year.
  2. I'm considering this one Gaz. Was up that way twice last year: once for cold weather testing with my fleet of FG-X test cars, and the other for a run up to Omeo for a vanilla slice with the missus...in a black manual FG-X XR8. Tough trips... Just have to clear it with my built in passenger seat speed alert
  3. details of property and assets please...
  4. I could: barely driven anything else for 6 months...
  5. I couldn't agree more RE features. But its not a let down when its clearly planned and fully intentional. More of a slap in the face. The people jumping on the stang bandwagon either miss this or don't care. At least Expensive Daewoo had a fair dinkum crack at a final commo.
  6. Anyone else having deja vu? All the comments about "I prefer the old model" or "the new one looks odd" Its like we're back in 2008 again...
  7. You can just see the back of the head of the extremely handsome man driving it
  8. Its Lightning Strike and it was pretty bloody cold in Melbourne this morning.
  9. Nice drive up to the dandenongs
  10. Looks sh*t, should've got an XR8...
  11. What if there's an initial spike as all the hopefuls/gullibles rush in and buy... ...and then everyone remembers that the dealer network are still as backwards as ever, and Ford still makes cars the same way (they're not a premium product, but they ask for a premium price). Given that the rest of the model line up is already here and sales are fairly consistent, it is evident that whatever is added to the lineup once the local models are stopped (Territory replacement and Mustang) will need to sell around a combined 2000 units pcm to keep the brand in the same sales position. At the moment half of that 2000 units is Territory sales, so even if the replacement was equivalent I can't see 1000 mustangs flying out the door. The much cheaper/better value/more popular with international uni students 86/BRZ volumes peaked at 600 ish and have settled to 400s.
  12. There was an intercooled version (the first Miami I ever drove was intercooled), suggestions were it made more power than that. Both the versions used to smash the HSV benchmark cars they had apparently, but unfortunately for us they used to smash everything else underneath the car too, hence there is now no cooler, and a de-tuned version of the non-intercooled motor.
  13. Lol: that touchscreen makes the whole car so much nicer? Evidence of the power of marketing and perception! The only noticeable differences to the customer are (I'm assuming no-one cares about different power steering fluid reservoirs or other re-sourced hidden items) FG Mk11 headlamps (projector style) FG Mk11 touchscreen and associated ICC software, as per the SZ E265 (the rest of the ICC functionality, all the hard buttons, is carry over). Complimenting this is the USB input and phone holder in the console, as opposed to the pouch and ipod connection in the Mk1. Wheels went back to the BF style, but from memory these were always the default F6 rim and the argents were an option, or the 2 styles came in and out over the life of the F6. Not even certain this happened exactly at Mk11 launch. Realistically the Mk11 program was 2 key areas: front end and touchscreen (as per VE Series 2). The FPVs only got half the mother car treatment. I got one of the last Mk1s since the price difference at the time was 10k and I figured the touchscreen wasn't worth that much! In hindsight all I'd really like from the Mk11 is the USB input and bluetooth audio streaming. Very annoying enjoying listening to podcasts from my android phone over bluetooth in my lease car and then having to use the crappy AUX input in my F6.
  14. depends on what number we're talking about. The FPV build number is just the next sticker the operator pulls out of the box. The VIN and V-Serials are more important - they identify the unit throughout manufacture (and obviously afterwards in the case of the VIN) and within them they have information as to the origin and type of vehicle.
  15. To all the "Ford lovers" your opinions are fine, but the feeling certainly isn't mutual.
  16. No proud Australian should buy this car. The way its being presented to us is at best insulting. "hey we've systematically screwed you guys so you can't make or sell your own vehicle but look how good this thing we made with unlimited resources is"
  17. I reckon the newer "petroleum" looks a lot like PPG found some old barrels of "ego" and changed the labels... Also "seduce" vs "emperor" basically the same colour
  18. There's definitely a knack to it, but I'll try and explain. The most thorough things to do is loosen all of the fender bolts and re-tighten in the correct sequence. The issue with this is that you'd have to break the paint and ecoat seal on each of the bolts, plus there is one bolt under the headlight (or bumper support bracket, I can't remember which), so you'd need to at least remove the bumper also to do it properly! But what I would reccomend you do first if the hood to fender fushness is a bit weird is to play around with the adjustable rubber bumpstops on the underside of the hood. There are 2 fixed stops towards the centre of the hood, and 2 windable ones on the outer edges. Wind them in to lower the hood, and out to raise it. As to the margins (gaps) if its uneven side to side on the hood you can either try and loosen a couple of the wider side fender bolts in the engine bay, push the fender in and re-tighten, or loosen one of the hood hinge bolts on either side and give the hood a short, sharp nudge over to the wider side. Like I said - its an art rather than a science!
  19. Correct - No R-SPEC badge
  20. Announced today, keep an eye on the news (not that those in the know haven't known for ages). Doomed the moment the real FPV operation stopped (and arguably long before, like the falcon in general)
  21. Too many shots of my backside in the vid Garry - might scare the kids away. Put me down - lots more to discuss with the XRT family this year!
  22. they look good in the flesh
