I lined up a mate from work when I had a BA XR8, and he had a BA Turbo, both autos. They were neck and neck to 160, so don't discount the XR8 as being slower, not all turbos have healthy power, there a lot of them that are 1 or 2 psi short of the factory rating, which lowers the power. A good one will beat an XR8 but they are not all good. As always, factory variability can have an effect. There have been a couple of stock XR8 manuals that have broken into the 13's.

No modern cars will be worth more money than the new price for them, its not like it was back then when the GTHO's, XU1's and RT's were race cars for the road and competed at Bathurst. They were legends from the moment they went on sale, and prices for some have never really dropped below what they sold for new, especially in the case of the Phase 3. They will always be legends. Can't say that for todays cars.

If Ford went AWD from the Taurus, they will take whatever Ford US give them. If an AWD system is FWD biased then that's the way it would stay. Ford have been using FWD biased AWD systems in their large cars for a few years now, since the Ford 500 from earlier in the decade, do you think they would change it to suit a few thousand a month in Australia? Hell no. But it looks like Ford Oz may go it alone on a new Falcon anyway, with a possible platform share with the Mustang. I've heard someone say they will give it one more go and if it doesn't succeed there won't be another new one come 2020 or whenever that may be. They know there is no point going FWD now as it will just put a bigger nail in the coffin. Cheaper to stick with what they have too.

It will be slower than the XR6 Turbo though, and it has no higher performance version that could match the F6. Luckily the V6 was cancelled for Falcon as it would have meant no turbo version at all, Ford US will be flat out supplying their market for the EcoBoost V6 and they would have had no excess supply to send down here, so the XR6 Turbo would have been no more. Fords plan was to move ahead without a turbo 6, the only turbo in the range would have been a 205kw EcoBoost 2 litre 4 cylinder economy version. Luckily that was ditched along with the V6 too.

Probably no weight difference at all, the Taurus is actually bigger than the Falcon, plus AWD mechanicals add weight. AWD is sh*t anyway as its FWD biased. From what I've heard internally Ford have ditched the idea of ever going FWD in Oz anyway, they know it will bomb.

All good in theory, but because the dealerships are privately owned Ford have little control over them. This makes it very hard for them to tell them what to do, what to charge, how to operate etc. There are steps they can take to reel the poorly performing dealerships in but from what I can gather its not easy for them to do. The Camry is a Japanese design, the Aurion is the same bar the front and rear bars which are styled here. V6's and all gearboxes are imported, only the 4 cylinder engine and some parts and panels are made here. You would call it an Australian assembled vehicle, not solely an Australian designed and made vehicle like the Falcon or Conformadore.

Ford have only one grade of piston now, they had 3 about 8 years ago, so that's advancing all the time. Fords are one of the most reliable vehicles on the market, although the fit and finish may not be up to some other vehicles. Very rarely will they leave you stranded on the side of the road. And they will take an absolute pounding on Australians roads for decade after decade. Most other vehicles, especially Korean ones will be junk after 10 years. The best thing about Falcons is their ruggedness and mechanical strength and durability. Just wait until these Chinese made cars will hit the market for around 10k. They will be throwaway after 2-3 years.

It doesn't, its a fulltime AWD with drive constantly sent to the front wheels with a chain drive. You can never disable it unless you remove the chain. Only GTR's can run RWD with the ABS fuse removed because they are an on demand AWD setup that only sends drive to the front when it detects slip at the rear wheels. Because it uses the ABS wheel speed sensors for this it dissables the AWD when the fuse is removed. Territory can't do this.

FG internal quality ratings and customer satisfaction levels are the highest they have ever been, so the quality has improved. As with any manufacturer you may have some issues, but there's no such thing as a perfect car. Even the most expensive cars you can buy break down and have faults.
