  1. RHD program has been cancelled, so as Dags said getting one converted for big dollars is the only way to get one here.
  2. The current blocks take both the front mounted Falcon and Territory sumps as well as the FG sumps sp they will be interchangeable, and long as the oil pick up tube is swapped over. The windage tray might need to be changed as well, the FG pick tube is quite long and needs a support tab on it that bolts to the windage tray to hold it in place. I'm not sure if the older windage trays have provision for that but even if it did it wouldn't be too hard to swap them over.
  3. Its a Ford box, I can't understand why the hell its made in France though. I'm pretty sure Ford don't make any cars in France so why do they make autos there when they are mostly used in Mustangs, Explorers, Falcons and Rangers made on different continents.
  4. The US has had Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards for years now. They average the economy across the whole range, so if they make plenty of low consumption vehicles they can still make gas guzzlers and performance cars. With Ford US making the Fiesta and new Focus later this year and next year, along with a range of hybrids, it will help bring the numbers down so they can continue to sell F series and V8 Mustangs.
  5. FPV's version, which I'd assume will also see duty in the Shelby GT500, will be an absolute stonker. FPV- Forced Production Vehicles.
  6. Of course Ford put the cheapest fuel in it, they wouldn't spend extra to put better fuel in it. They won't even supply you with a quarter of a tank when you get it.
  7. Its actually 21 %, and 14% for FPV's. Can be even less for imported stuff.
  8. They weren't factory though, the turbo instalations were done by an outside supplier, just like the Dick Johnson grand prix turbos or the AIT turbo jobs. Ford never produced and sold any turbo Falcons before the BA. They might have played with them earlier, from what I remember they were going to make the DJ turbo XE's, but they pulled the plug on it so DJ had to go it alone. Durability was the reason they decided not to do it.
  9. Ford quote on 95 for the turbo engines as its the recommended fuel, just like the quote on 91 for the base engines. Expensive Daewoo quote their figures on 98 which they state in their ads in the small print at the bottom.
  10. Note the wiring going to the front of the rocker cover for the VVT. The 5.4's didn't have that. The direct acting mechanical buckets used for valve opening make the heads much more compact compared to the 5.4 4V engines too.
  11. I may have 1 deal to give away. Cars must be ordered by end of June. Southern dealers only.
  12. I work in the engine plant. It was due to close in July 2010, but that decision was reversed and the I6 will be re engineered to pass Euro 4 by early next year. It will go eventually, but its probably safe past 2015. Luckily they kept it because when the V6 was to be fitted next year there was not going to be a turbo version, the yanks had no excess capacity of Ecoboost V6's to send any to us, so it was just going to be the one version, a 3.7 litre NA V6.
  13. The current 5.4 won't pass Euro 4, so they either have one that does before July 31 2010 or they don't have one at all. What do you think will happen.
  14. Ford are running a deal at the moment for employees that allows them to give close to employee pricing to 2 people they know, so if you know someone who works at Ford get onto them. Its valid until the end of June. G6E Turbos for 42k.
  15. From recent posts on the Aussie V8 Forum Steve is someone who should be avoided. He supposedly bailed from Australia owing about 200k to VPW and a whole number of pissed off customers after shoddy work. He now has a bunch of pissed off Yank customers after him and he recently posted on some US forum asking questions about buying a gun. Best to avoid someone like that.
  16. New V8 will be 2nd quarter next year, it has to go in before July cause that's the cutoff date for Euro 4 compliance, and the 5.4 won't pass that. Rod Barrett of FPV has already told GoAuto there will be a new V8 next year.
  17. Keep going. Base Mustang NA version makes around 300 kw, perfect for XR8, but there's also supposed to be a HP version for special edition Mustangs such as Mach 1 or Bullitt. Probably another 10-20 kw, which would also be good for XR8. Then there's the special version for FPV that will supposedly BLOW the others away. Direct injection will become available in a few years that will add another 10% power, so the futures looking good for the Ford V8.
  18. Demand for Fiestas has gone through the roof with the new model. Even in Europe where they are getting pummelled with the GFC and car sales are down a ridiculous amount, they can still not build enough of them to keep up with demand. It has been a massive success for Ford.
  19. There's no way in hell that will happen, its become the V8's signiture.
  20. Getting it up and running would be a major hurdle on the electronics side, I'd assume it would need to communicate with a BEM due to the immobiliser etc. An aftermarket ECU can't control the 6 speed auto.
  21. GM is selling off Opel/Vauxhaul, so Expensive Daewoo will most likely not be importing any of their products again, even the Astra is about to get the chop so Expensive Daewoo can sell more Korean junk in the form of the Cruze. Probably won't be long and the Late model camira will be Korean made too.
  22. The bore/stroke ratio has been fixed for next years Coyote all alloy V8, and has VVT and a 7000rpm redline. Will that be good enough?
  23. That and the fact they have over 20,000 unsold cars sitting around gathering dust. They are prepared to give them away for whatever they can get cause they are that desperate. Just watch their resale values go down the toilet, they are already getting lower than the Falcons. At least Ford have gotten rid of most of their unsold stock and aren't resorting to fire sales, therefor protecting their resale values, which have been picking up a bit. People complain enough about Falcons resale, at least they are taking steps to protect it, which will help them in the long run. Holdens fire sale will bite them on the arse sooner or later when the fleets turn away from them due to the rock bottom resale values.
  24. Both companies have no money to do it, Expensive Daewoo especially, because they are in massive trouble. The reason they didn't offer all those workers redundancy payouts is because they asked GM for money to do it and they got knocked back, because the only money GM has is the bailout money the US Government gave to them, which cannot be used on anything outside the US as one of the conditions of the loan. They had to keep all the workers on on a week on week off basis because of that. They tried to BS everyone by saying they were trying to save jobs, but the reality is they now how to continue paying hundreds of workers they shouldn't have to, and don't want to. They are hoping that a lot of them leave on their own accord so they don't have to pay. A lot probably will as some have had their pay cut by up to 40%. Ford don't have much in the way of spending money to develop race cars either. They wouldn't want to anyway, back in the 60's and 70's Ford actually lost money on the GTHO's because of the high cost of R&D and the fact they had to keep the sale price down to fit within a certain price category to race them. But they considered it a worthwhile loss and it helped promote their product and sales through the win on sunday sell on monday theory. Then you also need to consider the political ramifications. Once the media got hold of Ford and Expensive Daewoo building race cars for the road it would be a supercar scare all over again just like it was in 72. I can't see Ford wanting to move from the current formula either at the moment as they are whipping Holdens arse.
  25. They go down the line just like any other engine, except the turbo is fitted after it has been hot tested with a standard NA exhaust manifold on it.
