  1. You can buy brand new ones now for less than 40k, Expensive Daewoo are throwing them away. 2nd hand probably 30k, and you could just put a supercharger on it and still have change from 50k with probably more power. 75k, what a joker.
  2. Ford finished in the top 10 in the latest JD Power US quality survey out of the 3o something brands tested, and Lincoln and Mercury were in the top 5, so don't be so quick to judge their quality, because it has come on in leaps and bounds in the last few years. All Ford brands beat some Euro brands that were supposed to be the best such as MB and VW. Your right about the suspension of the Mustang though, but it sells for less than 20k US so cost is a big issue for them. The GT500 KR makes 402kw, so they have a bigger stick than we do here. At a base V8 level the new 5.0 V8 which will come in for the 2011 Mustang and which should appear in the FG series 2 will push power up to 300kw as an entry point with a 330kw+ direct injection version to come later. If only they would start to fit IRS, at least on the top line models.
  3. All manufacturers have this problem, I've even seen it on brand new Audis and they are top notch for quality. Its due to the different surfaces of metal and plastic, and the way the paint sticks to it. Silver and other light metallics are usually the worst. The FG's have been pretty good so far but the VE's are woeful. I've seen a red Clubby that looked 2 shades different from bumpers to guards. Unless you have a huge variation in colour don't worry about it.
  4. He'd threatened to do it a number of times before, so the boy who cried wolf scenario evolved. When he did swallow the pills people still thought he was faking it when he lay down on the bed, thinking he must be running a frozen still pic, because nothing moved for hours.
  5. Where do I start with this. Everything you said is wrong. Tom Gorman made the decision to drop the I6 a year before Bill Osbourne arrived, and it was Bill Osbourne who resigned to take up a CEO job for a security firm in the US after 6 months in the job. He wasn't fired. Credit must go to Marin Burela, he worked hard to make this happen, this is what happens with you have an aussie in charge, not some jerk off Yank who couldn't give 2 f*cks about the place and see it as nothing but a step up the corporate ladder. Well done Marin.
  6. The lower Aussie dollar would have been a factor too, the $1000 cost saving of the V6 Vs I6 would have dissapeared with the dollar below 65 c. It was over 75 c when the decision was made last year.
  7. I've heard 3.45 gears work well with the Boss V8's with the ZF, they are about as high as you want to go with a road car, 3.23's are also good and probably more suited to a turbo that see's highway use, although they don't really need them. Turbos tend not to need low gears.
  8. I don't think they will go alloy block, they don't need too, and the cast iron block costs them bugger all to make. In reality the weight difference wouldn't be any more than 15-20 kg, as the only structural part the engine uses that isn't alloy is the block itself, everything else is alloy. I think they will move the cat alot closer to the engine to fix the cold start emissions problem, which will result in a quicker warm up time for the cat resulting in fewer emissions. They have said injection, calibration and exhaust are the areas they will work on, and they can get Euro 4 without direct injection which would have been nice, but requires a whole top end redesign to fit the injectors inside the head. Big $$$. Liquid LPG injection should make an appearance.
  9. When Ford went Euro 3 compliant with the BF they actually gained power and torque, so don't bet on it. Usually making the engine more efficent results in more power, unless you are Expensive Daewoo and your piece of sh*t V6 losses power when you go for Euro 3 and just recently Euro 4, 5kw down both times. The current VE V6 actually makes less power now than when it was released in the VZ. The decision was good news, Detroit can shove the V6 up their arse, about time Ford Australia started looking after their own after they keep denying us an export market. F*** you Detroit. Looks like another smart move from Tom Gorman to use the V6, then they figure out it will cost more to fit it, and get it past crash testing than it would to upgrade the I6. Worst president the company has ever had, no wonder he jumped before he was pushed, the company was in a good postition when uncle Geoff left and within a few years it was in deep sh*t. What a loser.

Basically the same as the grille on the G6, black inserts and a chrome surround.
  11. Yet the opinion polls show he is more popular than ever, so maybe he's not as dumb as some people seem to think. Sure, he hasn't done what he said he would, but since when have politicians done that? They are all full of sh*t.
  12. Venom XR6 replied to NYOPA's topic in G6E Turbo
Only change that may be possible is to swap to the black grilles from the G6. Go have a look at one and see wether you think it would look better or not.
  13. The F6 uses the BA/F turbo, the FG XRT's use a smaller turbo.
  14. I used to get it sometimes during the night, stopped eating fatty foods at night, starting drinking heaps of water and got fitter and haven't had a reoccurance for a few years now.
  15. Haha. Turns out the original poster made the whole thing up, its not really his GF. He admitted it later on.
  16. I followed that thread from the start, absolute comedy gold, then it just started going beserk when just about every forum on the net got wind of it. There was 20 pages of posts added in less than 24 hrs. Some of the replys were just classic. I'd hit it.....................................With the car. Then guys photoshopped the dogs face onto the chick. Lol. The funniest bit was when the chick in the pics found out about it and posted a reply saying they were all losers that needed to get a life, then a few other posts from her questioning how people could be so cruel. She must have been so cut.
  17. There's only one thing that will determine who will win a 400kw F6 Vs 400kw SC Boss drag, and that's who can get the power down without frying the tires through the first few gears. Nothing else really matters.
  18. GM have twice as much debt as Ford have, and they they have a lot less in cash reserves also. Ford are believed to have $33 billion in cash reserves to keep the company going, which may seem like a lot but once that's spent on product development its only a few years worth. GM have next to no money to spend on future product, in fact they just recently announced they have delayed nearly all development of future models by a year as a way of trying to save money, with the exception of the Chev Volt. GM should technically be bankrupt as they have more debt than they do cash. Just a matter of time though. Recently market experts believe once bankruptcy is sought only Chevrolet and Cadillac will survive, with the other brands being sold off, merged or closed up. I don't know wether that means Expensive Daewoo too. Ford are in a better postion for survival, they actually started to get back into the black earlier in the year before the economic crisis took hold, but the plans are in still in place but may take longer to take effect. They also announced last week that they have added a third shift and hired back 1000 redundant workers for the launch of the 2009 F series as demand has well exceeded their expectations. But the economic crisis has battered the US auto market, so things are heading back down again for all of them. Toyota have actually copped it worse in the US than anyone, sales are down a staggering 33%.
  19. Pretty soon we'll have an Aboriginal as PM. On second thoughts maybe not.
  20. Screw blowers provide close to max boost right from idle, they provide a certain amount of air per revolution, rangine from around 2 to over 3 litres of air depending on the type of blower used, and the amount of air they flow does not really change with revs. They provide tonnes of off idle torque and would easily smash a turbo 6 in that area any day of the week. No lag with a screw blower, and considering the Boss engines already produce more off idle torque than the turbo 6's anyway it would just further increase its advantage in that area. And yes, the Boss engines do provide more off idle torque than the turbo 6's, I'm talking straight off idle before the turbo has any chance of providing boost. Once over 2000 rpm its a different story though.
  21. From memory they are over 1500kg anyway, maybe even near 1600 kg, so there's not much in it. The're almost as big as a Falcon in every dimension bar length, and I think they are actually wider.

After reading the title I was picturing a girl with a strap on.
  23. Its a hybrid especially made for Ford though isn't it? Not commercially available?
