  3. Well today, I got my 15 fgx xr6t dynoed on the local dyna pack, we got a max of 414 rwkw at 18psi 98 octane fuel, we dialled it back to 382rwkw on 15psi to save the driveline and pistons. Garrett 3582 with .7 comp housing, 4 inch homemade steampipe dump, turbosmart 45mm external plumbed back in down bottom of exhaust, no cat, 4 inch exhaust up to the 3 inch flange under the car, pw stg 2 cooler, stock airbox, k and n filter.

  4. So I thought Id make a thread for my build now that its FINALLY started, to get some feedback and advice from you guys along the way as youve been quite helpful in the past . You may remember me from a few years ago when I swapped a BA turbo motor and manual gearbox into my BA xt. the car in question: Shes been going pretty strong over the years with some brake and suspension upgrades and ive finally got some cash together to build a motor. Nothing too crazy as I am by no means a millionaire but I want to achieve a reliable 500 rwhp for some circuit track work and keep it regoed while getting the most bang for buck I can achieve. The overall plan was to buy a low kms FG n/a motor, recondition it and slap on the stock turbo setup from the current car. As my old man owns a machine shop here in perth I am able to get all the machining and assembly done for free and just pay for the new hardware. At the moment the plan is to use stock rods and pistons, while upgrading the usual stuff: oil pump gears, valve springs, turbo exhaust valves, all which has already been purchased. The machine work has also begun starting with the head. Weve recut the valve seats, installed the new fg exhaust valves and cleaned up the stock intake valves, installed new crow cams valve springs and faced the head. Heres the video of the valve seat cutting which is pretty neat: And the freshly faced head: Up next is to torque plate hone the block, deck it, balance and polish the crank and prepare for assembly. One other thing im aware of is the dipstick location is on the drivers side on the fg block, so ill have source a BA sump to get its location and drill the block. Has anyone here done this before? And one other thing I wanted to clear up is the FG n/a cams are identical to the turbo cams correct? Ive called up ford and was told they are the same part number

  5. Hi guys,im having trouble with my ba xr6 turbo 4spd auto.. When I drive it and put my foot into it,once it gets to about 4000rpm it pretty much shuts off the throttle and starts running like dog sh#*? If I turn the car off and then back on again it runs fine until I put my foot into it again? Now if I gradually get into the throttle it drives ok but again at a higher rev range ot happens more? Its boosting fine, ive put it on a scanner with no codes shown, plugs are new bkr7e ngk normal ones as was told by tuner? Ohh and another thing once put on a dyno the car runs good on 5psi but the moment we try put aome boost in it its like it breaks down and does the same thing on both road amd dyno tests? Can I be the cat? As there are no codes that indicate it can it be? What are peoples thoughts? Thanks in advance?

  6. Great to meet you and Ev mate! And I agree - top work as always Gaz. By my calculations, given their respective populations, ACT having four people on the cruise is the equivalent of NSW and Vic providing a total of 70 people. Maybe next year...

  7. I had these left over from my recent works done, apparently mine were done ages ago but I didn't know this when I ordered so they're just sitting on my bench, only 1 month old. Bag is unopened, let me know if you want them, mates rates of course. I've got some genuine grease in addition to whats in the bag. @EvilDaifu I just want to thank Gaz for organising this cruise. Lots of time, effort and money goes into organising these so thanks Gaz for making it an awesome trip and it was nice to meet everyone.

  8. Luv the smell of gums trees in the morning - beautiful chilly day this morning ... in the shade Last night @YLD127 and I debating how we gonna get to the next 98RON servo as there is none here at Omeo ... I just made it in last night with 46km range to spare Good thing brought along the spare jerry can of 98RON - reckon it was the heat and air-con yesterday plus sitting behind 2 cars some of the way - and the distance between Jindy and Omeo ...

  11. The FG turbo has the MAP sensor that is bolted to the manifold p/n AG9G9F479AA. It also has one that is on the plastic elbow leading into the throttle body. What does this one do? Does anyone have a part number for it as I rang both COVS and AMCAP and they just cant seem to find it on the computer.

  12. Hi all, I have a BA XR6T manual. It's has a moderate power increase which has been that way for years ~250 RWKW.. I stepped off the clutch today and give it a bit and I heard a definite clunk and then a lot off woop woop noises and what sounded like loud bearing noise under coast conditions.. The bearing noise sound just like a very bad wheel bearing noise. Noise is a lot quieter when under a bit of load but gets very loud when you back off. Additional to that, when you take off from standstill, it kind of jerks the car like your pumping the brake peddle a bit while taking off. The when rolling in reverse into my driveway, it was make some pretty ugly clunking noises.. Haven't had a chance to have a look but what is everyone's thought of what it could be.. Sounds pretty bad.. Car gets driven about once a month with just over 100k on the clock.

  13. I have these exact same symptoms. No noise on acceleration or cruising but as soon as I take my foot off the pedal and it slows down to below 60km it makes this really loud howling noise. It's a ute what are the things I should be checking and what are the best ways to determine where it's coming from?

  14. Guys, Sometimes when I give it the boot and then back off suddenly I can feel diff backlash. Is this normal? The car has been jacked up and there is a bit of play when you turn the tail shaft. As in there is a bit of play before the diff engages and turns the wheels. Car is still under warranty, not sure what Ford would do to fix the problem short of changing the diff...

  15. Hi, I am starting to getting the itch to mod our Terry, 2010 EGO GHIA with 15000km's on it. Just wondering at what sort of power figures you guys are starting to encounter box / shaft issues? im not going for massive horsepower, more so, good power with reliability and good fuel economy, Injectors, intake, exhaust and a custom tune should do for now.

  18. Hey guys... Finally got me G6ET.. 2011.. Sha'weeet ride.. Tease me about lawn bowls I don't care, happy as a pig in mud!! Just wondering with the performance shift a few things: What's the best revs to flick 'er into the next cog (naturally I'll go by feel, just curious) Should I be hearing a 'clunk' when dumped into next gear? (New car not sure on what squeaks and sounds I should be hearing) Anything else you want to tell me, please do.. Cheers..

  19. Hi Everyone, First post. So basically I've made a few changes to my NA already, Exhaust, Intake, Etc. but now I am looking for a more aesthetically pleasing interior. Basically I think those silver inserts are terrible for a few reasons. 1. Boring. 2. Glare. 3. Scratch too easily and very clear. If anyone could help me by telling me how to remove them without busting them, so I can paint / carbon fibre them, id appreciate the help. Thanks. PS> I am positive this will help many others as well.

  20. Hey guys, So, back when my car was really low, its rubbed out the CV boot's (just the boots as far as I can tell) and has leaked out a fair bit of grease. Because the search feature wont search anything under 3 characters long, I cant search 'CV replacement' - so anyone who has done this, is there a tutorial on how to drop out the CV's so I can either replace them, or have the boots done. I was concerned that they have pressed in bearings, and isnt a DIY job? I have access to a hoist at an exhaust shop so I can get under the car - if I need specialist tools, what are the chances of an exhaust shop having them? If I need specialist tools, what are they so I can ask? Thanks in advance crew

  21. So I was feeling like the rear wasn't quite right and gradually was hearing a knocking that ended really loud. Was right under me, so was suspicious of the control blade bushes. Just crawled under it - me thinks they are well and truly dead...
