apparently at coles im not allowed to grab the plastic bags used for loose produce and use them at the checkout to bag my items in.

one carrot

one brussell sprout etc

 

Bag them all separately

 

Use the bags as you see fit.

Bans single use plastic bags for groceries
Has single use plastic bags for all fruit and vegetables

My question is:
Why can't they use recycled paper bags????
Can still hear (in American accent) "paper or plastic"
When we were in the US supermarkets

I think the F & V ones are within the 2 micron thickness or whatever size that's been banned (rough guess at size - no real idea)

 

The ones that annoy me (not sure if they still do it) are the things like celery or carrot they've trimmed or sliced and put in meat trays.

 

Paper bags were a PITA - especially if any frozen or damp groceries are in them - turn to mush and break by the time you get home to pull them from the boot.

I wish they offered paper bags at least as it would work for a lot of items, for frozen goods people can then bring their own bag or buy one.

 

At the least it'd be nice if they had boxes available from all the products they bring in.
