Took me a day to download the original Diablo demo (70mb file - biggest I'd ever seen) - struggling to stop people from using the phone while it was going and no way to continue interrupted downloads on the 28.8k modem (I think it was something like $29.99 for 40 hours)

I used to just turn the modem speaker off....never understood why the fark they had one anyway?
