  1. Count me in.... I will probably not be interested in the competition, but hopefully be challenging for an 11... cheers, Ben.

Congrats JB - great news - and fantastic that everyone is well and no troubles! Good luck for the future hunting As for who is doing what - you need to check out Robins (xlint) car which has some great new bodywork... cheers, Ben.
  3. haha LMAO - I think I actually mostly behaved all weekend No more incidents for me... Leave that to Marcus and others far more talented than I Great night - much thankage to the o might purveyor of fine kitty, Criag... many thanks mate! Good to meet so many more members off the forum to! Cheers, Ben.
  4. love ya work Tom!!!!!!! big credit to you as well for making the drive over! I is great to get so many from so far away making the effort to drive so far!!! cheers, Ben.
  5. Might be something to aim for with the tough engine and bigger turbo, but I think all this 'proof' demonstrates is that you can't beleive every thing that appears on a time slip - especially mph from heathcote... best beleivable mph was 115...
  6. Great day - many thanks to all who came up and raced - particularly all the NSW boys and especially Sutty all the way from sunny QLD - respect!!!! As Craig mentioned earlier - track felt very slippery, and traction was a real issue on street rubber! Many thanks also for the loan of the MT's Craig, on which I got my best two times of the day. I only got into the launch once - when I ran the 12.68, and even then not super hard - I really can't afford another new clutch just yet - still a result I am rapt with. Just need to keep chipping away - the car has more in it - just not sure about the driver... Well done to all who got pb's! Great results all round... Thanks to Jeff for the race - you still have the greatest sounding car mate! cheers, Ben.
  7. That doesn't really show Ben's full potential though... He ran 3 passes at 134MPH! What tyres was it on?? I think he did it on both street tyres and MT's. ← nah mate - 2 runs at '134'mph and 2 at '138'mph - Have the time slipps to 'prove' it as well. Damn - but my car 'gained' a shizen load of mph from half track...
  8. Nice ride, and welcome! Definitely edit and filter are a great start! No need for the BOV. There has been some debate about why and whether these are required at all! I am running well over 300rwkw without a BOV on my car - no probs! Will be upping the anti to closer to 500, and still don't need one... Simon and Dave from Nizpro are going to tuning cars at Tunehouse next week - dependant on your timing, that could be a good option - I cannot recommend the Nizpro guys highly enough! Injectors are likely to be your first limitation, and if you replace these at the same time as you get the edit, you will save on re-tuning costs. The BF F6's have been making really good power so should be a weapon! All the best of luck! Cheers, Ben.
  9. The F6 is a turbo Its F6 ute from this thread ← sorry let me re word that so you understand this time! I know there is an F6 in the 11`s but has anyone got a NON FPV xr6 turbo into the 11`s yet?? ← Yes - fastest manual is F6 ute with I think 11.89 - Simon from Nizpro ran his xr6T ute at 11.91 with a 2.1 or so 60'
  10. Yeagh I just checked the long range forcast looks like rain but we will wait and see. Dave. ← Isn't plan B - retire to kittens to drown our sorrows...???
  11. nah its a company leased car, ohh well.. I could have nivated it but then I'd have to pay for petrol and I drive about 42000kms a year. ← What they don't know....
  12. holy crap Mick!!!!!! that sounds awesome! definitely looking forward to seeing that vid!!!!!!! Cheers, Ben.

LMAO damn there are some sick people on this forum... Love it, makes me feel so at home...
  14. hi, the following workshops would definitely be worth have a chat with: Adelaide Performance Engineers Bill Towler Mechanical Morpowa I met all these guys at the workshop held by Nizpro on tuning the falcons, and was very impressed by the knowledge and expertise they all possessed. I reckon Adelaide has some of the most talented tuners based on what I saw! They also have the inside line from Nizpro!!!! All the best with what ever path you take - stick with the Capa Ford Flasher what ever upgrade path you take in relation to other hardware - it is without doubt yielding the best results as a tuning tool! Welcome to the site as well!!!! Cheers, Ben.
  15. sorry to hear Jules, buy you a beer if you are still making the trip to vic! better to get it done properly than rush it - I also understan - I had wee discussion with the armco at snadown a few weeks ago - look on the bright side - at least you had insurance... Hope all end well! cheers, Ben.
  16. I agree with Tsammons All my mate's and I went through 4 stroke 250's as our first road bikes, we knew how to ride before hand as we all raced together in super cross and motocross. We have all since moved up to 1000cc bikes with a couple of us running NOS also, most of us went through a 600cc on the way also. We had a conversation the other week about how we wanted to get straight onto 600's for our L's but got talked out of it by some experienced riders. The conclusion was that we would be dead by now, simple as that! if you have not ridden before I guarantee you will crash a 600, how bad you get hurt will be up to luck! Side note... you will also crash a 250 (I did) but they aren't capable 300+kmh so it will not be as bad. My 600 had minor mods and would top out over 290kmh My advise for the job you require would be get a 400cc motard (KTM, Yam, Suzuki) exactly what you need, plenty of ground clearance to jump of gutters, bars above most car mirrors etc. The other option is the 4stroke 250 road bike if you do lots of hwy k's, the 2strokes a great and fast but have to be ridden that way all the time or you will have issues plus they are very high maintenance and need rebuilds. getting straight on a 600cc would be the last thing I would recommend for a learner!!! Chooka ← The key issue IMHO is the speed with which you will arrive at the next corner on a bigger bike - the signals and feed back are different to driving a car, and if you miss read then and arrive too fast you are in trouble. Bike are also less forgivable in terms of setting up 'right' for a corner, you need to be more mindful of line, road surface, damp patches, gravel etc etc etc than in a car - at all times, and if you panic at all and hit the brakes too hard when in a corner it = guaranteed crash. You have a much lower chance at recovery when you get it wrong. It might only take 1 mistake mate for permenant good night time if you are unlucky - and I only know of 1 mate who has never come off his road bike out of about 25 that have riden on the road - know why - he rides like I image my poor dearly departed gramdma might have...
  17. number 3 for me too pete - bit more distinctive - plus there are a lot of well thrashed cbr250's and a lot of others mocked up as RR's. Not so sure on the aprilias... just be mindful of the cost if you drop the thing... all that fairing is expensive to repair meaning high insurance cost... Unfortunately most people who learn to ride will put the bike down at some point... This can mean ouch as well as cash... I am saying this from experience... Don't get me wrong - I love my bike, but if I wasn't an experienced rider I am not sure I would be starting out know - particularly given the performance of the car...
  18. Great result Jack! you car was super smooth when I was in last already!!!! Looks like you have heaps through the mid range and it is spooling up quickly as well! Damn but your car is a freak - and in a really good way!!!! Again great result Jack, and another great job by simon and the Nizpro guys... Cheers, Ben.
  19. There is only a true hard limit which can be adjusted, however there are other ways to help reduce the likelihood of actually hitting it that in effect can act as a soft limit - speak to your tuner. As for your original qn - the flasher hardware is the same between an XR6T and a Typhoon, but the software files you need to flash are not. Each ECU has a processor code, and there are a range of codes even between XR6T's. It is important the the correct version of the processor code is used as the basis for the edited file. Cheers, Ben.
  20. Atleast it keeps him away from the bar ← not for long...
  21. Should be there - just need some sticky tyres an we will see how many bits I can break
  22. gogo replied to DougM's topic in XR6 Turbo
Firstly Welcome to the nut house Doug! The earlier BA's had issues with the belts and also the bearings in the water pumps - make sure this has been looked at - having said that I would expect the noise to be more engine speed rather than road speed related If it was either of these. Under load you can get some aeration in the power steering fluid which can make the power steering pump noisier, without it being faulty... Try changing gears when at that speed to see if you can eliminate the transimission from the equation, otherwise if it is just road speed, that would tend to suggest something behind the gb. As for mods, you have already taken the first step in getting the capa ford flash. The next step should be injectors, valve springs, and trans cooler - you will need a custom tune with the injectors which is definitely recommended in anycase. You should beable to acheive 250+rwkw with these mods - typically a little more (265 - 275) The stock exhaust is actually pretty good, with the main restriction the cat - if you want to save some cash, then leave it or get the cat only replaced. I have the APS system on my car and it is a great exhaut if you went that way, but not absolutely necessary unless you start doing up the engine. If you are going to replace the intercooler, I would go something bigger than the F6 cooler. Dependant on your budget, consider the Nizpro stage 2 cobra it, prior to making a decision on which intercooler. This is considerably more expensive than a just getting an IC, but if you wanted to go this way (and it is a great kit) down the track then a direct replacement IC would not be retained. Much more than a custom tune and injectors, and you really should be looking at the transmission. I would be inclinded to rebuild you trans before spending money on an exhaust, but some of the auto boys might shed some more light on this! I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from your new car! Cheers, Ben.
