  1. I had some many problems as well, the car currently 5000k's on it and I've already had water leak from the water pump repaired, disks machined, clunk in the front end, wheel alignment fixed twice and the steering wheel seems to be going off centre a mil each week, rear end of the car making a ticking noise when driving apparently some adjustment spring for the handbrake was repaired now has come back again a week later, my brakes are making a grrrrrrrr sound everytime I brake from speeds over 80k's must I go on and on. Seriously guys, I'm having second thoughts about this XR6 Turbo, I have owned the car since late february and havent needed to wash the car because it keeps on going back to ford service so they wash it. Oh one other thing the bonnet and guard alignment is terrible and I dont want to get them to touch the bolts because once they do the car will look like it's been in a accident. I'm cant keep on wasting my time arranging lifts to and from service all the time. I must admit my service manager has been very helpful in arranging all the warranty repairs to be done, but I bought a NEW car with 15000km service intervals not every 500km. I am seriously considering trading it in very soon if I cant get RELIABILITY!!! That fills so good getting of my cheast :D

Talking about bumper bar, I'm not sure how reliable this info if though I was told that the front bumper bar detaches (rips off) from the car at speeds over 240km/h hence the speed limiter set just below that. The source was a friend of a friend who works for Ford in Qld. Please don't quote me this is what I've heard, but when I heard bumper bar droop and been told of the above if you put two and two tegether there may be some truth in what I have heard. Have you guys been doing in high speed driving (On the track of course)?
  3. So none off you guys have tried burnouts in your t's, when the tacho hits a little over 4000rpm it feels like the wheels are going to fly off from to much spin, and of course this was done on a track.
  4. Guys, I've stuffed my knee up and not very mobile at the moment I thought I'd be ok by now, so I'm going to have to miss out. :(
  5. I almost went for the Capa kit and decided not to in the end, not much stuffing around with all the bits and pieces they include in there kit and for the high $5k to install. I have been talking to another machanic in Sydney who does a lot APS system and advised me to be patient and wait. This new unichip with a nice exhaust should give low 13's all day not to bad for a daily driver. My problem is I want to go faster, so I'm going to sit back and see what else APS will offer in the future and there is also Herrod to consider as well, should be an exciting next couple of months.

In most car stereo application the rear speakers are utilised as rear fill, hense the less noticeable difference, the rear is ment to give that surround sound type effect and that's the way Ford has probably designed the system. One point I would like to stress is the way the speakers are mounted is very important, mounting speakers on steel isn't going to give you that sweet mid bass sound that most of us try to achieve. You need to utilise mdf to give you the a dence surface. If you wanted a cheaper way out of upgrading your system, just remove all factory speakers and make mdf cut out's for the front and an entire new mdf parcel shelf for the rear and remove the lining from under the the parcel shelf in the boot, think about when the sub kicks the air bounces back off that lining and causes it to distort.
  7. Mine is the same open the boot in the wet, make sure you have a brolly.
  8. After 3 warranty services, leaking water pump O ring, brake shudder, mis aligned steering wheel, hand brake adjustment, mis aligned steering wheel 1000k's later now with 4700k's on the clock I can say the car is better now then when first delivered. Patience every one once your small problems are rectified you should have a trouble free vehicle, if you keep on going back for the same problem week after week, find a new machanic.
  9. Not long now guys, I'm still trying to get my car modified before the cruise, the machanic says it can be done but I dont believe him :D
  10. Thanks, I'm getting older :D , and wiser I think

What is the silver trimming around the speakers made of, have you replaced the whole rear shelf with mdf, is there any bits of the car that didn't want to go back together after the install. thanks
  12. Rjs - time to invest in an intercooler, I found when the car is running hot the performance seems to decline.
  13. Mine is still up around the 21-22l/100k's, Need to remove the cast from my left leg if think B)
  14. If it sounds to good to be good it probably is.
  15. How many of you guys are bringing your partners.
  16. Give me a month or so and I'll see you at the creek, buy the way I raced a silvia (on a track of couse :D ) and he didn't win, mind you my car is stock as, though he did have a exhaust and the HUGE monster tacho.

I think my brake issue is rectified, the dealership actually machined my disks but was assured that this would fix the problem. I thought I'd go with the flow as they say and let them do it. So far so go my braking is very good even at very high speeds (150+) on a track off cause, the only problem now is that I get a much louder brake pad noise than before, so if think they replaced my pads with none standard type. I had another friend in the car the other day and he reckons that the noise is normal for a pad with high metal content, anyway I'm going to take it back I shouldn't be getting pad noise every time I brake from 80k's and over. They fixed the brakes sort off, and my car came back with a miss aligned steering wheel. you can't win
  18. I bet that ad sells a few cars
  19. What a great turn, I wish I was there, maybe next time
  20. Try stopping from 160k's and fill the shudder.

I'm not sure about the ute, but the sedan has traction on when you turn the key, read your manual, unless someone else on the forum has a ute that can answer your question.

You can get a very good pair of Boston Acoustics 7 x 5 slits that would do the trick if mounted properly.
  25. Is there a NOS kit being developed for the XR6T.
