Isnt Karl from Hiro using a GTX42 or 45?? I wonder what his experiences are and what benefit, whether by way of peak power, earlier spool or even fatter midrange he has seen over others with similar mods and just a standard GT42/45... Karl????

Correct - probably just a cost / budgeting thing... If your mate is really particular, he can replace the cooler with an earlier version metal end tank one. If he is anything like you though John, get him onto the Plazmaman / Process West / RAP1D FG kits!!!!!!!!!

Yeh, it probably got a little more confusing than it needed to be, sorry! Quoted above is probably the only part you need to read to make your decision on whether you go with the F6 bottom end, or the Atomic rebuild kit. End of the day, Atomic built bottom end will be able to take more punishment with higher power than the F6 bottom end will (with all the right supporting mods of course!).

Ben - Does your lowmount keep the turbo in the exact same position - Eg, your dump, lines and inlet piping dont need to be changed / modified to suit??

If it were me, even though Mal Woods is more expensive, I would go with them - they have done the job before and would be well aware of any potential problems that someone having a first go at would not. See if they are a little negotiable on price at all...? He is a site sponsor. Both Monsta Torque and Xtreme Ford Tuning in Perth rebuild ZF's. I think Kewish rebuild them in Victoria... From what I can make out and as per Riki's post in another thread, he sent his ZF to Monsta Torque to be rebuilt for less than $3k including freight both ways from the East coast.

If I were you, id send the box out West to be diagnosed and rebuilt if possible. As Greg has mentioned, there is a possibility that you can have the box fixed / rebuilt (stronger) for cheaper than you will pay for the conversion. If you are going to convert to the T56, I would suggest a few things. 1. Speak with Mal Woods... He should be able to point you in the right direction with a complete conversion kit. I would probably have him carry out the work in converting too if the price is right! 2. Adrian_F6 (member on here) has a T56 and Mal Woods clutch in his tornado that he was looking to swap for a ZF6 box and associated components & Hardware. You guys might be able to strike a deal for a trade.

Had a chat with my tuner the other day about this as I have read and heard that the FG manifold is a lot better and free flowing than the B series manifold... It is definitely possible to make it work. Eg, if starting from stock and a clean slate, it would be a decent mod to carry out. The manifold should bolt up to a B series block. The turbo would have to be flipped to bolt up to the manifold and from there you could make or purchase the associated plumbing for a cooler kit & intake. As the turbo is flipped, you would need a dump to match the exhaust housing etc. You would see the best gains if paired with the FG Plenum. For me - It can be done, but I would effectively have to replace my dump pipe as it would not match the rear turbo housing (once the turbo had been flipped). If I were to have to purchase a new dump, its probably not worth doing on a cost vs gain basis (for me!), which is where I ruled it out. If it is going to cost me a new 4" dump and associated plumbing, im probably better off paying the bit extra for a 6boost or ETM manifold that will be better in design and flow again...! If you go through with it, let us know how it goes though!

You will start popping intercooler pipes if your upping the boost...! You dont have to replace the cooler itself, but you should do the piping. Shouldnt cost you too much! Id say 319rwkw.

+1... Not quite sure if I like it or not. Can tell you one thing though - them wheels are gonna be dwarfed by the front bar and front gaurds, so he is gonna have to go pretty wild with biiiiiig wheels to pull it all off. More pics from more angles showing more car!!

Oh agreed - should be well above 119mph, but based on that figure and with some decent traction it should be in the 11's. I would hope that if it hooks up ok, it should be hitting well past 119 though.

Have a look into Weapon X coil packs... Im pretty sure a few tuners have used them on customers cars. People like Straughberry are using them in some pretty big builds! If your a member on Fordforums.com, there is a sponsor doing a group buy on them at the moment. If not, get some new standard coilpacks from Ford or Ebay!

We all knew that a 500+ manual ute on Maxxis street tyres is going to have traction problems lol!! As long as you had fun doing it though! That kind of mph should net you a mid to low 11 with the right tyres I would think... Someone correct me if I am wrong?

Oh for sure... Im wanting to trade up into a typhoon with a ZF6. Looking at one at the moment where Rob has built the box and if I end up with a different one without a built box, it will probably be one of the first things Ill ask Rob to do!

How much is this going to cost you Karl? I know the FG manifold is excellent anyways and there arent really any replacement alternatives, but im just wondering if the outlay is worth 10rwkw... Suppose it depends on cost doesnt it.
