that I'm ready to upgrade my work car (pajero) and the only car I like that has the requirements I need is a 2013 onward Jeep Grand Cherokee and after research it would appear they are a of junk. grrr.2014-Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-Diesel-front1.j

Hear too many horror stories re the Jeeps - would never take a risk on one myself.

Not just the reliability, but also the (lack of) service when something does go wrong.

I think you nailed it- often things go wrong with cars, but if they can be diagnosed and fixed then cool. but if the dealer claims they can't find anything wrong with it, or says it's fixed although they did nothing, then it becomes a nightmare- and that seems to be what jeep does...

FCA and the Average build quality of Jeeps is the perfect storm of sh*t experience for the consumer.

I know someone with a 32k repair bill for a 2015 blackhawk cherokee with sub 50,000kms on the clock

P.S don't buy a white one in SA anytime soon

Agreed on all counts

And yet you have all the ones who haven't yet had problems making a massive noise that jeep QA issues are just a storm in the teacup and they've had no problems at all etc...

I have a couple of mates with cherokees who are in love with them.

I was extremely tempted by an SRT but couldn't commit given the experience of so many others out there and got a disco instead

Fun fact: apparently a Cherokee SRT wing mirror replacement will cost you $4.5K :oooh:

there are plenty that say they have had no issues at all- I stalked an older couple to the supermarket and asked them, and they smirked and said people ask all the time and they have never had an issue in 3 years since buying new, and will upgrade to the next model late next year.

I so want to believe it would be fine cause they are amazing to drive, have amazing technology, and look great imho.

plus everything else with a 2.5 tonne towing capacity does absolutely nothing for me. except the Pajero- but stuffed if I'm going to pay 15k on top of my car for the newer, same looking inside and out version of what I already have...

fun fact- they have a zf 8 speed auto.

Will the issues (if any) be yours or the companies?

You mentioned it as being a company car - if the risk isn't at your end then it'd make the issue a bit less
