Are oil pump gears (the main other thing I hear of being a weak point after the stock tranny cooler and the stock turbo oil filter) something that could/should be upgraded for peace of mind?

 

Or are they just something that can let go but not something that can be upgraded?

I have the idea to one day get a KPM Street fighter intake for FG XR6/Turbo/Supercharged GT. They retail at roughly $600 including the shield, cover and filter. Not sure how much discount they would offer on a group buy or if there is much interest. They replace the factory air box so not turbo side and no need to relocate the battery. Pending cost, I may not be in the market for one just yet anyway but would like to see if other people are considering this part.

 

This is the part for anyone who does not know what it is. It's basically an aftermarket version of the standard FG GT s/c intake and KPM say you gain 8-12 rwkw just by changing the air intake.
