  1. I've notice New Oak Ford (in Oakleigh) sell Herrod Edit boxes (aka Capa Boxes). Does anyone know if one is to purchase this product through this Ford dealership that Ford will then still warrant the car fully????
  2. Yes or nulon, teflon or silicon spray. Basicly any light oil spray ← I've been advised not to use "silicon" type spray. See posts on the 1st page of this topic....
  3. Well well well... what do you know... this part has the wong piping... it's for the BF. Hence, if you're thinking of using this for a BA - dont! Back to the drawing board.....

I've read QFM's (LTM series) are great for the street - especially with DBA slotted rotters. Do a search for QFM brakes... Here's one of many links: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...topic=31881&hl=
  5. OK, After some digging and numerous calls to Ford, I finally found the FORD part number for a trans cooler kit for the BA/BF. Part number is BAF 7A095 AA. Costs about $165inc (I'm sure you can get it cheaper). I've called FORD 13 number and they have confirmed that this cooler will fit a BA and will not void the warranty. Gotta be happy with that!
  6. Team, Any inputs here? Do you think this should be done on a regular basis? If so, after how many k's / months? Thanks.
  7. Ok guys, I found it: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...topic=30136&hl= Does anyone know how often this should be cleaned? Thanks....
  8. Anyone, I can't seem to find it but I remember reading somewhere here that someone wrote to check/clean the "filter for the turbo"? as another maintenance job - just like cleaning the throttle body as well. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Please advise? Thanks. P.S. I too have done the boost solenoid and the throttle body. Man, what a difference. Very happy....
  9. Guys, I have a BA MK11 XR6T 4 sp Auto (stock car) and I am looking into putting a transmission oil cooler. I've called 2 Ford dealers and was quoted $355 and $540. Cant believe one of the dealers quoted me $540! The $355 quote mentioned that an extra 600-700ml of tranny fluid is need. Anyway, I also called a transmission specialist as was quoted $440. They mentioned as my car is stock a "larger" cooler can be fitted hence an extra 700ml (or so) of tranny fluid is needed. So is the Ford tranny cooler any good? Would it do the same job as the oil cooler from the tranny specialist? Can someone please recommend a tranny cooler? Also, are braided hoses required? Also, apparently Ford sell the kits for around $150. Does anyone know that part number? Thanks heaps.

Sounds good. Are the standard QFM pads better than the standard BA MKII pads? And if so by how much roughly? Do you also recommend changing rotors to DBA4000 series slotted?
  11. topic replied to bjcrown's RHR in Brakes
SO they take a bit of punishment.. any shudder issues of major brake fade?? ← What about dust and squeal?
  12. Does anyone know why the picture of the wheel that lights up on the dash (for Traction Control) has a 6 stud patterned wheel? I know I may be a little pedantic but surely Ford should have matched the stud pattern that's on the car!
  13. What type of ferodos are you using? 2000 series? Thanks.
  14. Great post... I did mine today. I also noticed the boost kicking in early. VERY happy. Everyone should be doing this. Next: to clean out throttle body.
  15. Don't forget the whiteline swaybars...
  16. Guys, Thanks for your input. By they way the only non-stock item I use is the engine oil - Mobil1 5W-50 full synthetic. Is this oil ok? What are your thoughts? Looks like I'll be doing the following: 1. Custom Tune / Edit. 2. Front whiteline swaybar 27mm not rears - see: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...opic=26098&st=0 3. Probably still stick with K&N and not Typhoon CAI. That way I can revert back to stock quite easily. I might even stick with the factory filter only. Has anyone had any problems with the K&N filter? 4. Brakes / rotors: I'll replace the rotors to slotted DBA's if required. Until then I'll change the pads to Feredo Formula 2000 series. Can someone please advise that if I change the front pads do I need to change the rears to Feredo's at the same time or can I leave the stocks? 5. Spark Plugs: I have read (somewhere) CAPA recommend changing plugs and that NGK BKR6E is the way to go as they are gapped from factory to .8mm. Does anyone see any problems with these type of spark plugs? 6. Transmission: Does anyone know the cost to add a trans cooler? Can someone please advise what type of Trans oil to use on a 4sp Auto? I've heard people of strengthening their auto's. I don't want to spend too much money. Is this really required for just an cutome tune/edit only? I am not looking to adding bigger injectors / valve springs etc... I'm sure I'll be stocked with power of a custome tune/edit. Thanks heaps everyone.
  17. I've only got a can of 3in1 Professional Silicone Spray Lubricant. Can I use this instead of WD40? Thanks.

  19. Guys, I currently have a BA MKII XR6T 4spAuto Luxury Pack. I've had my car for nearly 2 years and is completely stock - always use BP Ultimate (98RON). I'm very happy with it and would like to mod it slightly without spending too much. Here is where I need some guidance... please! NB: I'd say I drive it spiritually about 15% of the time otherwise I take it easy. Off the lights about 30% of the time I give it full throttle to about 100km/h. I'm happy how it goes but just want that little bit more zoom and slightly better brakes. The mods I want to do are: 1. CAPA Edit with custom tune. Q. Do I need to strengthen the auto or require an auto cooler? Will the this edit make the auto fail in the long run? I plan on keeping the car for another 5 years at least... 2. Front sway bar - whiteline 27mm 3. K&N air filter - so that I dont need to keep on paying for a FORD filter 4. Want slightly better brakes. Thinking of gettting slotted DBA rotors all round but not sure what pads to get. Dont want to squel or have heaps of brake dust. Suggestions please... As I said I'm 85% happy with the brakes now just want a little less of a brake fade... 5. Change spark plugs to NGK BKR6E (I think they are pre-set to .8mm). Is this ok? Will my car run with these spark plugs if flashed back to factory tune? Basically, I want the car as stock as possible but a little more zoom zoom and better brakes somewhat. I hear so many good things with this CAPA Edit custom tune and I cant wait but I would like the driveline to last too... By the way, how many rkw should I expect? Thanks heaps...
  20. Has anyone managed to download this document? It seems this link "dallasoilinfo.doc" is inactive. Can someone please upload this to this thread or PM me.. please...? I'm currently using Mobil1 5W-50 on my XR6T BA MKII auto. I wonder if I should change? Any thoughts? Thanks.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...=ADME:B:EF:AU:1 How about this item? I have no idea about cars but for under $20 bucks this seems to be the best bang for your buck! Can anyone here confirm if this product is any good and do you forsee and damage to the car in the short or long term?

Who (if possible in Melbourne) sells these Feredo Formula 2000 pads? How much are the front and the rear pads? Do you have part numbers? Thanks.
  23. topic replied to bjcrown's QikSmurf in Brakes
Hi QikSmurf, Do you recommend Formula 2000 pads on the stock rotors and calipers? You mentioned "the first time you apply braked when cold, it feels a bit off". What do you mean? Is it any worse the the "stock" brakes/rotors? As I dont always drive my car all that hard would stopping be any better with the 2000's (pads only) than the stock setup when cold? Please advise. Thanks heaps.
  24. topic replied to bjcrown's QikSmurf in Brakes
I have a MKII XR6T with standard brakes. Do you still recommend Ferodo Formula 2500 on standard rotors and calipers? Is this ok? Please advise. I am too looking into changing my pads. Can't wait to get rid of the stock Ford crappy pads!
  25. I use Castrol SAF-XA 80W - 140 . It is a : Full Synthetic Limited Slip rear Axle Oil. Upgraded formulation - no additional additives required. Some Oils need 40ml of Friction modifier added, but not this stuff. Paid 20 Dollars per litre @ the Castrol depot . ← Sounds good... but where is this "Catrol depot"?
