I agree 100% ... you play basically you need to be prepared to pay!! ... Kiss your Ford warraty bye bye ! Hence maybe if you can't afford the repairs you might as well start with a second hand car and put the difference into building it tough.

If you play with a new Ford XR6T's or F6's you need deep pockets because if you brake a drive train component then it is more than likely classified as a "catastrophic failure". The dealer has to send the ECU to Melbourne and if you have flashed it you can kiss your drivetrain warranty goodbye... inc engine, box, diff !! My FG popped an Oil Pump and the fix was not cheap !!
  3. I think it is simple... You need to respect the car regardless of power and if you really want to push it then do it at the track where you should have some extra space for error and will reduce the likelihood of killing yourself but even more importantly a friend and or family member. I've had some big loses on the track and can tell you that it happens so quick and once you loose it the car just keeps going until it runs out of momentum or it it hits something !! This happens to the best of drivers too ... remember Brocky ?
  4. Some good times there... Nice burnout Rhino !! 10/10 you champion. I might dust off the Taxi and go for a few runs once the weather cools down.

I beg to differ in opinion, shape and form is not everything ... my FG must be a lemon!! I have driven standard non Turbo Avis cars and they feel ok I guess compared to the standard BA they are better..
  6. Cmon guys... how about some results?

Mate I speak from experience... I've got both a BA XR6T and and FG XR6T. When you drive the cars back to back you quickly realise that the old taxi still feels so much better overall. 100000+ ks on the clock and it only has a few minor creaks. This is after 100+ hard launches at WSID !! The FG rattles and bangs and clangs throughout the drivetrain, the plastics are creaking already, the gearknob is falling apart. It's only done a few runs down the quarter and its already falling apart. I was also very excited to buy an FG with all the hipe of its promises but at the end of the day the old BA is a better buy for someone who wants to mod an XR. I know sorry to go off topic but I'll say it again... the SC V8 is wasted in such an inferior chassis.

Ford is just a rip off ... at least Expensive Daewoo will negotiate and honour some sort of warranty. In my opinion the Blown V8 is wasted in the FG shell. The rear end setup is useless under power and the axle tramp issues with the FG have not been addressed. The chassis cannot handle the turbo 6 let alone a supercharged V8.
  9. Awesome setup on that GTECH car. 160 MPH !!! Inspiring stuff ...
  10. Sorry to dissapoint guys but I've got all of the Superpro bushes put in on the rear of the manual FG and it still tramps like a mofo !!
  11. Best time on true streets = 11.15@125mph ... see sig below Here is an 11.3 sec run... Heaps of fun!!
  12. Guys let me tell you... Jim at Tunehouse has an R8 clubby ls3. 6.2 l with the largest in the valley blower installed and this this absolutely rips! It makes about 500 rwkw (runs out of fuel pump) and is so much more responsive throughout the whole rev range than any other car I have ever driven. Im saying instant crisp torque delivery! I don't care what Ford brings out, HSV will easily blow them out of the water if they feel that they are loosing market share! Ford is just too soft and will buckle once HSV brings out their big guns. Might be time to defect back to the dark side !
  13. I'm hopeless, forgot all about it. I left home thinking I forgot something! The Taxi ... Doooh! Corza, 122 mph with 349 rwkw is on the money. Some better tyres and a clean launch and you should run in the mid to low 11s. The 60 footers on street 19s are hard to get down but it is a lot of fun! Well done ... top effort first time out. Rik do you have a vid of the burnout? Post it up...
  14. Great job Pat... my guess is that the Inox took a bit longer to seep into the creak(s). Should have used WD-40!! (only ) Interesting thread ... I'm no suspension expert but I love hearing peoples perception and feedback of what is "better handling". My interpretation of handling is how the suspension keeps the tyres on the ground and what the car does after it looses traction on the road. In most cases when stiffer springs and shocks are installed in a car (with no other changes) the car might feel like it handles better because it does not lean over as much. This is in most cases interpreted as better handling but has this actually made the car better and safer? Installing the wrong combination of shocks and springs (and heights) can lead to producing a dangerous outcome at high speed and wet conditions. The BA and BFs had a very unbalanced and wobbly feel I could not wait to modify the suspension, I originally had Kings springs and Bilsteins but the car did not feel comfortable around fast sweeping corners, it was too hard and the rear end jiggled around and lost traction. I changed then to the Teins and the difference in the car was very noticable, a bit softer ride but the car still held on and was well balanced around the faster corners. The FG was a big step up in standard form. I have done a lot of country driving in various conditions and the standard suspension is pretty good. Recently, I once again forked out the $$$$ for the Teins but have not had a chance to put them through their paces. My 2 cents !!
  15. I should be able to get there next week ... It will be good to get the BA out for a few runs. It's been a while.
  16. Sorry guys, I'm going to be out of town for work
  17. That is a great effort on street rubber with the stock 4sp, well done... excellent 60 footer! At that power level if you put on a set of MT ET Streets you should run a low 11s pass if not a high 10s pass. Your car is making similar power to my BA on the Tunehouse dyno and although I am doing slightly better times on the 19" Maxxis tyres it all comes down to tyres, converter and practice. Good to see you are having some real fun with the car.
  18. When at the drags... I do the burnout in Performance mode, hold the brake and slowly accelerate until it spins and changes into 3rd (two changes) then lift off the brake and nail it. The car changes to 4th ... good smoke (over 220 km/h on speedo) Then I use manual mode when racing. I gives you more control especially when you are running street tyres. It lets you short shift when it spins and hence provides better drive... As for in the street and general driving I just leave it in drive. Circuit racing with the 4 speed is pretty useless.
  19. So is the old Taxi the quickest true 100% street tyred car? (on the 19" Maxxis)
  20. Well done *Beep*, an 11sec pass on 20" tyres first time out is an excellent effort. Like I keep telling people, it's all in the first 330ft. Get off the line without too mich wheel spin. Keep the thing pointed in the right direction and keep the foot flat while it wiggles about!! It's great fun. I think it's more fun driving on the 19s than on the MT ET Streets.
  21. Well done to all involved... good to see a 9sec XR/F6 in NSW!!
  22. Ok guys, here is the best dyno run that was saved...
  23. I just spoke to Dario and he sounds like he is going to try and save it for the track... This is what he is going to use to try and get it to the ground...
