Iphone Sound Level Very Low When On Handsfree
JP300 replied to JP300's topic in Audio/Visual Workshop
Done that and sound level is still pretty poor. I raise the level up to 25 - 30 and I hear the person speaking faintly but there is a lot of static. I might borrow the wifes iphone and see if it does the same thing... -
Maybe someone should put a table together with these results as it may gee up a few more cars to get out there in 100% street trim...

FG with premium audio and tech pack... My iphone used to work great upon receiving a call I could answer the phone via the steering wheel button and the sound quality was excelent. Now when I answer, the sound level through the speakers in the premium audio is very low and I have to increase the volume (to over 25) in order to hear. It is also very staticy? Anyone else have this problem? Fix?

Hey Spiko, A summary on what you have done so far, where the project is up to and where you are going with it would be fantastic ... (I'm too lazy to read back through all of the posts and the love stories to get the full picture) This is one hell of a project, has anyone else taken the development of their XR6T/F6 to this extent? Inspirational stuff ...

Hey Danny, I've been side tracked with work and home renos... Have not played around with the taxi much. But this thread and the work Spiko is putting in is very inspirational. I'll be in Melbourne for the Grand Prix...

Would have never picked you as a poet, not that we have met but based on your hunger for outright ballistic power. Mate you are certainly going for the outright title, no doubt about it and by the effort you are putting in you deserve it. Danny, you have to stop drooling !! you are a semi grown-up man.

So who is going? I'm going to try and come out on Saturday. Can you still get a one day pass?

Guys, I took the taxi out there last year and had a ball. It is great to cruise the circuit and give it a squirt every now and again. If you go out there as a group it's a lot of fun. I quickly found out that having 1200nm @ 3000 rpm is no good when trying to get the power down out of a corner! You can drag a car side by side on the straights between the barriers as long as you do not go quicker than 130Ks (ha! ha!) I was stuck at the back of the line when the cars where going back into the pits and we were just up the top of the straight before the last corner when one guy in a XY started doing a static burnout, then another Late model camira next to me strarted doing one and so I joined in with one other car. Apparently the four of us put up quite a smoke cloud. The officials threatened to throw me out but let us off. When I went over to one of the tyre stands and they saw the rubber on the rear guards, I told them that I was ripping up the Maxxis, they gave me Maxxis stickers, Maxxis t-shirts and plenty of encouragement. The highlight of the day was when I gave a mate of mine a run against his SLR Torana. He ran a 10.80 down the quarter and was pretty confident that he would blow my doors off on a rolling start. We nailed it at about 80Ks and I put car lengths on him. He was pretty upset !! I would highly recommend Powercruize to any car enthusiast. I will try and get out there on the Saturday...

All I can say is .... "Uuuaaaauuuuuugh! GeeeeTeeeeRrrrrr!" (Drool, in homer simpson voice)

I got pulled over by a White Hinda Civic 4 door! I wasn't really doing anything, just trying to get the tireshine stuff off my tyres after a car wash. I pulled out into a T intersection and it went sideways up the road. Tried "cleaning" the tyres at the next two sets of lights (nosmoke) and then got pulled over. New Canterbury Rd, Belmore. They had a chat to me and after I explained what happened, they told me to take it easy and would go back to the station to decide whether to book me. I never got a ticket. At the end of the day if you are being an idiot or driving dangerously on a public road then you should not complain if you get booked or even loose your car. It does happen!

WOW! ... just saw this thread. What a monster project! Good luck with the attempt at a 10s pass. It will certainly deserve a blue label celebration !!

Jim? I am a John ... I dont know if they make Maxxis in 20s. You can check with Bob Jane. I am going to ask for a free set of Maxxis from the distributors as I think that I have promoted them enough to the guys on this forum and my mates!!

That is my personal target. Maybe next year when the weather gets cooler.

11.15 @ 125 MPH, 1.8 60 footer, 19" Maxxis ... ($230 each!)

The BA Taxi is too easy to run a 10s pass on some reasonable tyres. I reckon just about anyone can do it. I need to get my stocker FG XR6T Manual out for a run. I guess the pressure is on to see if I can actually drive !

Hey Mate, sounds like you really want to have a go. I guess I've been doing this drag racing thing for a while and am happy to offer an opinion or try and answer any specific questions. Like you say, there is quite a bit of trial and error but you can avoid a lot of the pain if you just get down to your local drag strip and talk to the guys that are out there racing similar cars. There are plenty of boys in VIC racing their F6/XR6Ts. As far as spares, I never carry anything. I rely on a tow truck! Luckily have only had to use them once in the last 4 years of flogging the taxi. (Broken CVs!) Best of Luck ...

Cmon guys lets get back on topic... (Geeze I might have potential as a Mod! Ha!) So how is the car going Brian? I have not seen that big a smile on your face for a while now. I'm guessing you might be enjoying the ol'beast? Can't wait to hear it at full song in the Tunehouse Dynocell!
-
Sounds like you've got a pretty good setup! Prep for scruteneering... make sure everything is bolted down especially battery, no leaking fluid, have an approved helmet (not sure how strict they are down there) If you want to get some traction then do not be shy in the burnout. On the 20s with 400 rwkw you are going to have some fun!
-
Brian, It is not a fair comparison between your BA monster and a standard FG but in general I would have to agree with your comments. The car is still stock but is feeling pretty nice to drive. No urge to get it modded yet !!

You cannot compare the Mazda 6 MPS to a Falcon XR6 Turbo... they are two completely different cars. Quality wise, based on the little I've heard from a few friends that have Mazdas, the Mazda has it all over the XR6 Turbo. I do not think that the car will feel 10 years old after such a short period of time. My BA felt a bit on the soft and wobbly side and I guess after a few years would have felt very ordinary. I still feel that it is a great car to drive and it certainly has the power. As for the FG, overall I am happy, do not get me wrong, I am not regretting buying the FG. At the end of the day it comes down to what sort of power level and overall performance are you after? If you like a zippy, nimble and medium powered car then the Mazda would be a good buy. But for overall bang for your buck, potential ball tearing potential and fun factor I don't think the Mazda can beat the XR6T !!

It's all in that 60 foot launch. Even more so with the lower powered cars. My rule of thumb is whatever you can gain to the 60' time you will gain 1.5x at the end of the track. It's all fun and games... try getting about 380 - 400 rwkw down with the 19" cheese cutters! Then you will really have some fun!! It is very addictive.

The FG definitely feels like it has come from the BA/BF heritage and on paper there are not really that many differences but the improvements are definitely noticeable. The spring and shock combination is a lot more compliant as the car feels so much better planted on the road than the standard BA/BFs. The car starts getting a bit giggly in the rear end at higher speeds over bumpy corners. I remember driving one of the first F6s and it felt even worse in the rear end. I do not like is the hollow diff bush. On hard launches and quick shifts it bangs like the diff is bashing on the underside of the car. I think that a solid bush will sort this out. The steering differences are huge. There seems to be a lot more feel in the wheel and the new rack works very well. Power wise the car feels strong and the manual feels pretty good but it has a bit of hesitation between shifts. I do not think that this is going to be too hard to sort out with a custom tune. The manual is pretty good but seems to be a bit clunky going from 1st to 2nd... Warranty?? Body and Interior are as good (or bad) as any other Falcon. I had one rattle in the boot which was a loose panel. Pushed the clip in and it stopped. The sub-woofer (premium sound) is stuffed and I will try and get it sorted under warranty. The clutch is pretty ordinary even with the standard power. It is also a bit too light for my liking. Even with all of the above criticisms, overall I feel that the FG is a pretty huge leap forward. I'm pretty happy with it and would recommend it over the BA/BFs if your budget can go that far.

1 month and the car is still stock... not even an air filter. Been busy at work and too many distrations. The car feels good and with 2000kms on the clock I have no other problems to report. Went down to Tunehouse and the place looks like a Ford dealership. I'm going to get it run up on the dyno to see how she runs stock.
-
That is not a bad effort at all... BCL's time of 11.9 @ 138MPH (manual), I think 92 MPH half track takes the prize for the biggest gain from 1/2 track. That was his first ever pass in the car on cold Falken Azenis tyres. I think Brian was running 630 rwkw at the time. I still reckon that is one of the most memorable runs that I have ever seen. The thing just took off from about half track and it dead set sounded like a jet figher.

It's still bog stock standard. I think I've cracked the diff bush and the clutch feels very second hand already. I've also blown the sub! I notice that the old Premium system in the BA is better that in the FG. It's a bit dissapointing. I'm going in for warranty!!
