  1. That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I hope it is recovered in perfect order.
  2. Great stuff Rob/demon1300! I am hoping to take the plunge with tuning my own car in the future as well. Look like you have made a very good start. What you found would make you wonder about how many paid for tunes have problems.
  3. Looks great Joe! Sorry to hear the last head was ruined. It looked really good (and clearly worked well too). Did you do the new head the same?
  4. I have a G6ET and think it is great on the highway. Effortless comfortable driving. Cruise control can be set in 1kph increments and will drop back gears and engine brake when going downhill (although on long steep hills I prefer to just brake). Fuel consumption is also pretty good. Even our BA wagon is pretty good on the highway - but the newer 6 speed turbo is much better. I cannot imagine you regretting it.
  5. I love the "DIY" and "share results with everyone" approach. I saw the post on hptuners forum about the laptop issue. I would like to help out and offer you a laptop. Let me know if that would help, I should have something suitable.
  6. Nice work User55555
  7. Great thread! Fantastic work! Thanks for sharing.
  8. Jets thread on what he has been working on is one of the best threads on the forum. Another thread like it would be great! Please do it!
  9. Hi Joe, Do you know the before intercooler and after intercooler temps? That would tell you how well the current cooler is working. However, you would also need to know what amount of cooling is possible from potential "upgrade" coolers - preferably with your airflow and "out of the turbo" temps. Have you considered anything like the CO2 intercooler sprays to use with the current cooler?
  10. Absolutely awesome effort Joe! (I should have said that first up)
  11. This is something that has interested me for some time but I have not seen any decent info on it. Does anyone know of any good info which shows how much difference the volume of the intake tract makes to responsiveness on a turbo car? I saw a post elsewhere recently saying that someone with a highly modified supra went back to a smaller intercooler because the car came on boost 500rpm earlier. I seems logical that a bigger volume takes more time to pressurise, but how do you quantify it?
  12. How can a cooler be below ambient temperature Surely the best it could ever do is be equal to ambient temp?
  13. Santa had come early. Congratulations! They look great! I hope the way they work matches how they look.
  14. I thought the rules were specifically about phones?
  15. Spotted MS700 in East Hills about 7:00pm last night, going nice and slow past the speed camera car ☺
  16. Has there been any progress with this problem?
  17. That's impressive! Thanks for sharing your experience with everyone.
  18. Hi Brent, I fitted an oil to air cooler to my G6ET. It fits in the front ok with everything else being standard. I used "zip tie stick" type mounts through the radiator to hold the cooler in place. I also flushed the gearbox with gulf western syntrans and followed the temperature/fill procedure. Everything seems to have been fine for me, although I do not do a lot of kilometers.
  19. Loosening chain tension and lowering the RPM when the noise starts (as described earlier): This reminds me of tuning a guitar string (change the tension and the vibration changes) - again pointing to resonance in the chain. The questions I would be trying to work out. Is it possible that there is resonance in the chain? Why would it be happening in this motor? How can you confirm or rule it out? What can be done to change/fix it?
  20. That is what I was thinking too.
  21. This info on resonance in chains may be of interest. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.maplesoft.com/view.aspx%3FSF%3D5091/ford.pdf&ved=0CFAQFjANahUKEwiGwPztgcjIAhWBMZQKHfZRCAA&usg=AFQjCNEYf9tZuVVJ1ckHEhEKAy0PAAuMag
  22. I like turbotrana's post. Even a long screwdriver with the tip against what you are listening to and the handle against your ear, works remarkably well for listening to specific places.
  23. That is a good point fr33r!
  24. Thanks for providing the review.
  25. I think Martin owns it.... Sorry, someone had to say it.
