  1. What have I missed? Has the fat lady been singing? Is the car running?
  2. So you stuck your fingers in.... and it was not round....??? Where did you get it done?

Didnt realise there was a gen2 gtx. Although I think the borg warners are the best overall turbo I have tried, an equally or better performing garrett makes more sense for the barra. Has the advantage of being a direct bolt on.. Price? When available?

Heads up. There is a efr8374 replacement - efr8474 in the pipeline. Looks like potentially a perfect street turbo for the barra
  5. Jet mail order tune!
  6. So you going to fly jet over to tune this? I remember somewhere along the line he offered to do it for you..... Looks sensational by the way. Something to be proud of!

Like the clutch! Whats the t56 magnum? Hows it different from a regular t56?
  8. Hmmm. Sounds like the seller is a good bloke. If he was trying to rip you off he would have not offered a cent. Aging performance car... this is only the start of the dollars you are going to have to drop on this machine

Demon, I wish I had gone with this turbo from the beginning. It sounds better than the precision or garrett, and the driveability is something else.

A few people have asked me where I got the turbo from. It was through a friend and so not available to all. Maybe speak to Jet who can source most things cheap. It is an expensive setup! I did not make any huge saving. I did find a group on ebay based in Florida who worked out a bit cheaper. Are you going low mount? If so get a manifold made where the T4 flange sits further back towards the firewall. Will make the install much easier and you may not need to move the power steer resovoir.
  11. Sad day! Drove behind this for a while...

The bw 0.83 turbine housing is designed for their bigger 80mm turbine wheel

Cool, look forward to seeing how it goes. What a/r housing did you use? Might look into this at a later stage. I briefly asked the bloke at 6boost about making a low mount T3 manifold. In his words "no one else in the world would be stupid enough to put a 0.83 housing on a XR6T" Lol! But the BW 0.83 seems bigger in every dimension compared to the Garrett 1.06. Should have taken some pics of them side by side.

Yeah, that does sound interesting. Is that with a high mount set up? I think a gtx3582 or pte6466 with standard ported exhaust housing and a proper aftermarket exhaust manifold (6boost etc) would give what most people want on a daily. Fast spool and 400+rwkw without putting a stock engine under too much pressure (valve springs and probably oil pump gears need to be done). Iam lucky with the manual as dont have to worry about ZF rebuilds and input shafts etc.

Unknown turbo config, working it out and playing safe. Also fuel quality variability. Back pressure and heat would probably be an issue as well. Will check with Spiro. I have a built engine though, so can take more abuse

The tune is still in development, need to take it back to Autotech - Spiro wants to up the boost a bit. At 19psi my car made 370rwkw with the gtx and 420rwkw with the efr (with timing pulled out) on pump98. Both runs were with R888's on the back, which from experience dont play nice on the dyno and read 10-15% lower than regular tyres. Whats your take on the comp maps?

T3 0.83 IWG. The IWG design and angle is much better than the garrett housing. I dont understand the a/r ration and how it relates to size, because the BW 0.83 housing looks bigger than the stock ford garrett housing.

demon, I sourced a efr9174 locally in the end. Could have saved a couple of hundred buying from overseas, but happy to work with the local guys who have always looked after me. Initial impressions - this thing spools just as quick as the gtx3576 and then takes off!
  21. Rotors and pads will make a difference, particularly if doing repetetive hard braking. For emergency braking good front tyres are probably more important.
  22. Nice result, well done for giving it a go! Presume the tune just needs a touch up?
  23. Yeah, sound deadening is a good investment for a street car - one of the first things I did. Still, with the R888's I sometimes have to peer over my shoulder and make sure Valentino Rossi is not in my blind spot! I use Goodyear eagle F1A2's on the front. Really good grip, sticks in the wet. Feels like its shortened my braking distance as well, actually feels better than new rotors and pads for stopping.
  24. Nice car! Agree about the R888s, I am using 265/30/19. Awesome grip, way better than the Michelin Pilot Super Sport I had before - they barely lasted 20000km. The R888 can be noisy though. I hear there is a new version out or coming soon.

Iam going for the t3 0.83 iwg housing to try and maintain quickish spool. Will be my fourth turbo lol!
