  1. Hey all, I am upgrading my Baby turbo to a GTX 3576 Gen 2, Is the Standard turbo rear housing a good match? Is the compressor housing intake the same size as standard? is there anything else needed besides turbo, gaskets and actuator bracket? Goal is 400RWKW on 98
  2. I can confirm he has offered to exchange the housing which based on the opinion here I will be taking him up on. - I'll add that I hadn't contacted race equipped before creating this thread and only done so to get some opinions, not to flame his business. The step in the flapper seat is quite substantial and this is the only place I can see any real light leakage, and the flapper jamming is also concerning..
  3. I checked it with a torch and it is leaking on the lower spot near the flap arm... It has also got jammed a few times when fiddling with it and stayed open under its own weight. I thought paying a so called professional to do the job would yield a better result then trying it myself; obviously not.. The tune is being done by one of my good friends (no dodgy) But I am WAY out west so can't just pop down the road to get a housing or tune.. Would this housing be salvageable? Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  4. Hmm damn Seems like it's so hard to get good honest work done in this industry, it's constant problem after problem... I only went with race equipped because they were the only ones with a housing ready to send, and it still took 5 weeks to get it :/ They told me they port using a mill, but this looks more like a hand job with a dremel?
  5. Yeah it feels more like an octagon than a circle... Does it look bad? It came from race equipped..
  6. Hey guys. I bought a genuine rear housing with flapper mod from a known company, after 4 weeks it has just arrived. I am a bit let down with the quality of the port job, is this normal or has a butcher done this? When I run my hands around the inside of it I can feel lots on flat 'sides' to the port, and it's not truly round..
  7. Hey, Got a fg xr6t, at the moment I am just looking for a dump and cat pipe, but I want something that will be compatible and well matched for the future when I get a full exhaust system. (Something capable of flowing ~400rwkw) I am only doing this for performance increase and want my exhaust system to be as quiet and drone-free as possible (Especially being auto) X-force seems to be the standard but I have had single X-force systems on my b-series xr6 and wasnt overly impressed. I am leaning towards Venom, I have heard awesome things about their Dump and cat pipe, and cant complain about the cost of their twin 2.5" system. I have also seen the Mantra and APS exhaust systems but havent seen any reviews of either. Ive also heard that mild steel systems are less tinny than stainless so may suit me better? cheers for the advice/opinions
  8. I just found these 50mm radiators http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/08-13-FALCON-FG-XT-XR6-XR8-G6-G6E-V8-Turbo-Heavy-Duty-50mm-ALUMINIUM-RADIATOR-/122077761880?nav=SEARCH As long as they fit with a large Intercooler and tranny cooler I like that idea more than cooler thermostat.. Has anybody had experience with the 30% high flow thermostats? Or playing with the thermofan cycle Temps
  9. I do have a trans cooler and not worried about heater especially this time of year it is quite hot where I live.. more worried about the time it takes to come up to temperature.. I also don't belive the standard gauge is a very accurate tool to measure coolant temperature, there is a very wide window between 1/4 and 1/2 way.. it is sort of idiot proof.. I have an ultra gauge in my obd port but for some reason always displays coolant temp as -40....
  10. Hey Wondering what everybody's opinion is on cooler thermostats when modifying xr6turbos. My tuner has recomended I fit a cooler one as my coolant temp goes up to 104 after 1 hard run. I have mixed feelings about cooler thermostats, I think its a mask and once it's open of its going to get hot it will... another company told me that they tried the trident 81° and they got inconsistent temperature so changed back to factory. The other option is trident have standard temp thermostats 91° but they flow 30% more, but I have heard mixed things about these too, that it may not cool as well because the coolant moves through the radiator too fast to cool down.. Cheers
  11. Cheers, I think my mates may have had a conservative tune, I was expecting it to break 400kw especially with the high flow, He also had a surge tank, whats the consensus on this? will it be needed? Pretty sure my mates x-force was single 3" or maybe 3.5", I would expect the twin system to be quieter?
  12. Hi all, About to undertake some modifications to my brothers BF2 F6 typhoon, 6 Speed which include: Process West Intake manifold and stage 3 intercooler, Plazmaman CAI and battery relocation, I have done the same modifications to my mates BF2 XR6T which also had a full X-force exhaust and high flow turbo, which made 390RWKW The Goal for my brothers F6 is 400RWKW, I am not sure what the mechanical differences between the Turbo and the F6 are (both series 2) Is the turbo the same trim of GT35 between xr and f6? Will it require modification to meet the goals? Will it require the flapper mod? or will a edit be sufficient to control boost? What size injectors will be needed to meet this goal and have headroom? Is there an exhaust available that is quieter than the X-force that can still handle the power? Thanks,
  13. I am in nsw but actually flying to perth on monday.. I just think I am going to have problems getting help (Even from people wrecking cars) Since both parts are only worth a few dollars...
  14. Hi, Having trouble finding the a few parts, or even part numbers for them, Parts are from a BA XR6T, I am after the overflow bottle Cap and also the pin inside the handbrake shoe adjuster. (picture of adjuster attached, pin is inside it)
