Agree with above, purpose built motor, dry sump. DLM have something that revs pretty stupidly. I think Pat has the right idea get a drift pig and leave the ford for road duties or towing duties of the drift machine. It all depends on how much money you have to spend, double it, then if you still have enough money to cover it build it and it will rev.

Ford should stock them, if its a part in their car and they need to replace or repair it they would have to source it and stock it. Now the question is, is it the bolts holding the dump pipe onto the back of the exhaust housing, my suspicion is yes, in which case you should remove the ones that were loose and get some loctite onto them or they will come loose again.

Is it going through insurance? If it is they may have a policy you need to adhere to regarding repairs

Yep had all the tuning work done on my car by Castlehill Exhaust as well as the exhaust install, made 400kw ATW, Dale the tuner there is pretty good, he had a run in here a while back, but from my personal experience all was good, Both Dale the tuner and Chris the exhaust fabricator and all rounder/mechanic/engine builder are good blokes and easy to talk to. With regards to oversteer in the wet, yes that is normal, try less throttle or better tyres. I have had 2 tunes done by Castle hill exhaust and my only complaint is I paid twice when I should have waited done all the mods then did the tune once.

intune are in sevenhills and yep avoid avoid avoid. MRC do a good job, if you must stay in North west go to them, if you got range go see Autotech, think they are site sponsors.

I know the guy who runs MRC, Mark Chapman, he is a straight shooter, tells you how it is and does a good job, he has tuned a number of friends cars and done a very good job. I can't say as much for Hills, but I have heard some very very bad stories, have a quick google search for hills and read the horror stories. If they are the same mob (name change) that tuned my VL back in the day I would avoid them at all costs. MRC have a very good reputation and Mark has been around for a long time. Give him a call and have a chat.

Sounds like a valid theory. Malwood Clutch is your next and last clutch choice, its whats in my FG and its brilliant, holds heaps of power and cops abuse without giving you any grief, its as light and driveable if not easier than the factory setup but holds a shed load more power. Ring Mal or a distributor and get onto it, they are a good setup and not a bad price really.

One thing I will try and do is get a video on the weekend and post it up, will chat with the shop that did my valve springs and see what he thinks.

Never ever done it idle ever that is one thing I am certain of. Only at 3000rpm to 3500 or so then it stops dead. Would like to get it sorted before I drive the car to VIC.

Hmmm, so if not a lifter what would it be, it surely cannot be a rdod as that would be half speed and not intermittent (that is what I understand of it) one would assume (well I am). Mick any suggestions ? Its going to be on your dyno in a few weeks time. I have always used Nulon 10W40 or Penrite HPR10W50 and changed every 5-7,000 and warmed up properly before a thrashing. Anything I can try to rule out lifters?

Ring the tuners either Autotech or Tune house and have a chat with the actual bloke that will be tuning it and discuss some options and your plans. I spent almost an hour on the phone with my next tuner and I gotta say it was one of the most informative conversations and honest I have had in a long time, something I have not had before form a Tuner which is sad. Either way the two mentioned tuners I have heard very good things about.

Evening all, well after much of an annoyance I was having a chat to my mechanic mate today after work and I came to the conclusion after researching and discussing that I have either a sticky or rooted lifter. The symptoms are top end ticking/tapping comes and goes, some days its there when the car gets to 3,000 to about 3500, then disappears and again when the revs drop it comes back from 3500 through to 3000 then goes again. Other days it never happens at all, doesnt matter how long I leave the car warm up, the oil that's in it or the car temp when I rev it to 3000+ it only occurs for a small range and on the same trip if I go through the above the noise stops completely and doesn't. I have tried different oils and I did notice that it only started after I had uprated valve springs installed and then changed my oil. My question and topic for discussion is, how much would it cost to replace the lifters and is there anything I should look out for in purchasing. The factory ford ones are ~$20 each or there abouts. Was thinking should I go standard ford ones or after market and if aftermarket why? I have had a look and Atomic do lifters but they range from $600 to $1000 for a set. So would like to know what the difference is between a $20 a piece set and a $1000 set (apart from the price obviously). Anyways looking for some insight as I have a few more things coming for the ute and want to make sure its all safe and happy before dropping another tune and parts into it.

Got Process West Turbo side 4" to 4" race airbox and battery relocation ordered today, should have it next week and install the weekend after. Exhaust is being fixed next weekend (leak at the join between the dump and the cat) and new plugs the same day
