  2. So the 5spd manual gearbox in my BA xr6t popped out of 3rd today and started making horrendous clunking noises as I limped it home. It seems I still have all gears but the noise is pretty bad. Looks like I will be paying Mal a visit. I live about 2hrs away so I'm tossing up trying to limp it out there but would hate to lose all gears and be stranded... What do you guys reckon? will she hold together if I try not to load it up too much?
  3. Hello all, I have a stock 03 BA XR6T with a T5 that has a boost issue that after months and months of research cannot be rectified. I am going to take my car to my uncles friends workshop who has a dyno to sus out the issue and I figured while it was there to get a tune done. I am not looking to get any huge power gains just a decent tune to go with the stock set-up. Question 1: I have seen afew early model capa tuners on ebay that are blank or have 1 or 2 flashes left in them.. The guy who has the dyno has not worked with XR6T's before and said if I can supply him the hardware required he can put it on the dyno and tune it up for me. He has no software whatsoever, does he need software to tune the car with just the capa box? What are my options here? Question 2: Are the early model capa flash tuners ok for the outcome I am looking for? I have done no mods and am not planning on doing any apart from the centre muffler that has been removed. Any advice is VERY apreciated. Thanks in advance.
  4. Howdy Guys! I have been living with one hell of a shuddering problem that comes from the ass end of my T5 packing 2003 BA XR6T when I am releasing the clutch. I changed the diff bush and had no real improvement. I have been driving with it for a few years now but I am finally in the place to spend a bit of money on her and fix her up. I am pretty sure it is a clutch issue, and I have a sneaking suspision that the previous owner installed a new clutch (possibly some sort of a button clutch) that rather than feather, has the old on/off approach. So the shuddering would be coming from the buttons skipping across the fly wheel partially engaging. The shudder is only there when I am taking off but yeah, it can be quite violent if I dont time the release right. I know the old BA's have a bit of a problem with diff shudder but I am hoping to change the clutch and perhaps the fly wheel to alleviate this bastard of a problem. Does this sound like a valid theory? Anyone know of any good clutches for city driving that doesnt make my drive train suffer so badly? Anywhere decent in Perth that actually knows how to work on a car? Thanks for any input!
  5. I'm doing some research into upgrading my BA turbo's transmission to the 6 speed manual and I'm not sure where to start or who's reputable in the VIC south eastern suburbs. What's a rough price for the full conversion? does the diff and clutch need to be replaced as well? Any advice would be appreciated
