Anyone got any ideas; I'd love to shut it up for the long weekend lol

I just figured I'd add after my last post of saying Just Cars brushed me off in the past without explanation; they have now quoted me. With a fairly large excess (typical for us all <25s) I could get it down to $1074pa.. I don't like their 'vehicle excess' bs; but with my record and fingers crossed I could think I am easily saving $1000+ pa over the RACV deal I'm on now! I will be swapping over soon unless RACV can come to the table; which is highly doubtful in this dreamworld they seem to think we live in..

Keep the bonnet matching; white B series (when tidy) look very mint and the kit with an XR8 bonnet will make it look very chunky/fat this is for sure!! As for the wing; you didn't mention it in your first post so I assumer you're already fairly happy with it as is or like the DJR lip only a small change down the track.. Either way it is your car, these are just our opinions and nothing more. Depending on what sort of car you envisage as your end project, I'd steer that way and if important to you keep in mind resale/future costs.

oops, I meant to mention in the first post that I sprayed a very generous amount everywhere that looked OK to do so with it feeling smoother but still creaking. gr!

Hi guys! Has anybody had a squeaky accelerator pedal and worked out how to shut it the hell up? It is only the one pedal that makes noise and it creaks with the slightest more of your foot! I have mentioned it when I took it to Ford for service/warranty work and they told me there is absolutely no way squeaks like this are covered under the warranty and I had 3 choices: 1.) Pay them to lubricate it and hope it fixes it. 2.) Pay to buy a new accelerator pedal module (the whole thing of course) at my cost and remove/refit it at my cost. 3.) Deal with it. I have put up with it for months now as they forgot to look at it when I asked them and I have finally snapped; I cannot take it anymore - please give me some ideas!

As for the concerns being raised to why they simply would NOT put into production, I'd generally agree. However, then I think on the flip side that because it is on a V8 it wouldn't have to be as wild as the 6cyl; it could be a low (very low in fact) boost setup; or even go the supercharger route like many different manufacturers do on their V8 option list. Think about how many cars in the US, UK, Europe you can buy a car with option of the standard V8 which they look at same tame (we think its wild in our cars haha) and then have the forced option! It is common and I wouldn't be surprised if the planet wasn't falling apart as fast as the economy right now; they'd consider it strongly here in Aus. Having said that, these days its almost a faux pas to even suggest this sort of power plant unless it uses LESS fuel than its competitors or has some new aspect to save energy, emissions or resources. I can recall reading through our Australian car magazines on a few occasions and scattered through the article you find quotes similar to "we have the 6cyl turbo now" or "its the v8 killer" or "why would you want a v8" and even "there is no need as our engine line up is strong as it is". Australians, aussies, are proud and slow movers in general IMHO: many would be happy just having made the 6cyl turbo engine so well (albeit isn't new anymore) and with huge success than thinking "ok, now lets do the V8 and made it even bigger and better". More like "job done, now lets look at another aspect that could do with a kick in the pants".. When people say the I6 turbo is tame from factory I agree 110%; it is at say level 5/10 from factory, but it can do and can take so much more (obviously, we all know this by looking in our driveways). If I were to see Ford Aust. making a forced (as either turbo or supercharged would be great and yield similar results) V8, the driveline and chassis may not be able to take on that much more. I do think that that if they were to get one into the market, they would need to either: a - make the engine as strong and detuned as the 6cyl version, and have driveline reliability issues for people who modify quite aggressively. b - make the engine good, but have it running close to optimum running conditions so that it is not too easy for people (us lol) to come along and blow things to bits unless we are willing to spend the money on the entire car (engine/driveline etc) which means certainly no warranty issues. I feel Ford Australia have made exceptional headway for the brand, image and reputation that they have some great product and they know what they are doing even though we often think otherwise with the turbo inline 6cyl; but I would love to know the $ value that they may argue it cost them to do so in somewhat questionable warranty claims after modifications on the cars equipped with these engines which are seriously detuned from factory. Oh and as for the guy who said fuel economy.. if they were smart about it and used direct injection, maybe even some system that sh*ts off cylinders when not needed; it need not be thirsty as we may think immediately. I believe if the craziness of the notion (V8TT) was balanced with economy and smart solutions/features to help save where it counts... it would at least solve the issue of being socially viable lol On that note, I can tell you now if there was a twin turbo V8, I would buy one for two reasons. First, I miss the sound of my V8 and secondly I like the delivery of power with the turbo and that whistle.. I dare not imagine the V8 sound with the turbo whistle, makes me think of doing a silly and expensive thing like selling the F6 to buy a GT and putting a kit on it.

In suburbia of Melbourne I have seen some Expensive Daewoo Astras as undercover cars a couple of times now. Only pick them on Friday nights, usually tucked away along Princess HWY.

I would also say check the battery, it does some very weird things to these cars when they're not too healthy. It has been known to upset the alarm (as said above, horns, settings etc...

I have seen this on a BA (may have been a BF, but Im 99% sure it was a BA) and it was just the same as what has happened here.

I must be an arse; I have called just cars 3 times in the last 2 yrs trying to get a quote and they tell me they dont insure my car for under 25yo's.. I will call them again monday and suss it out lol; I think I am paying too much now, back when I was 21 it seemed ok as I was only just legal to drive the thing!

I don't know about the xr6t, but the F6 has monstrous torque down low! ...and lets face it, once you have any level of modifications on the F6 you will have people think you're dragging them off from the lights 'coz the truth of the matter is if you pull away silently at just 2000rpm you will still see no tail lights unless people are playing silly buggers with you. I have a few friends I let drive my car regularly and I have noted they continually comment how its always steaming ahead no matter how you drive it. The best way I can describe it is, absolutely and entirely effortless acceleration. The 6.0L do not pull down low nearly as well compared to the older 5.7L from what I have driven stock for stock; up the top however they are noticeably better. However if you add a twin turbo or supercharge them and its game set and match for sure.

I would say the badges are breaking it up a little.. I find the debadged look makes the back end look massive lol, it does look good on some colours I will admit, but your bright as bright blue is not one IMHO. Either way, its a nice car and looks clean/well looked after (polish your zorst tip hehe)

I drove both. I like both. I own F6. It is a personal thing and have a mate with a VE Bogan special ; nice but just isn't 'performance orientated' which is saying something (LOL) comparing it to a F6 which isn't really performance orientated (stock) to begin with.. If you plan to do ANYTHING to them other than a TT setup on the SS, mods pay off on the F6 tenfold! Out of interest, did you ask this question on www.ls1.com.au to get some flip-side feedback?

I go and visit the guys at High-Tek Brakes quite often and have done for around 6 years now and with 8 different cars! I trust them with all sorts of cars of varying brands and value and gotten nothing but old fashioned honest service and no BS advice. In the past I have had them do everything from minor to major servicing, fixes on the fly, RWCs, full suspension and break packages etc.. So far I am very confident in recommending them to anyone as I have sent all my friends family and coworkers there and have yet to hear anything but praise. They source and supply almost anything for dealers, small shops etc too, so their prices are sharper than I have found elsewhere. Any car I have taken there has been cared for as if it were their own also, from my run around to my pride and joy! 23yo. F6 - fully owned. 700k house, mortgaged. Things change fast when things go crazy, it doesn't take long to be in a hole thinking 'it will never happen' to then think 'wow, why don't more people do this?'...

Late 2006 - 55,000km and counting. Used almost daily, loved almost hourly hehe! Trouble free driving thus far; tight as new still which may have something to do with its pampered/serviced/upgraded nature..

Huntian - I am usually a huge fan of the standard rims on the BA-BF range, but you have a seriously nice looking machine there and as you might have guessed, I think those wheels looks REALLY GOOD on the ego F6! I too hope you have still got the standard ones for future sale/use, but again, it looks tops as is!!

Seen heaps of cars out last night on princess hwy as I was heading home from the city; surely some of those people are members on here. Nice cars

I've got a samsung and an iPhone; work gave me a blackberry too which I kindly returned as I 'didnt need it' The iPhone is 110% my personal pick for my business and personal life all in one phone. The Samsung has a great camera and a few good features; but it is the basic things that it cant do easily that kill it - like scroll LOL The Blackberry was great for business but OVERKILL and SO bloody frustrating to use in my day to day personal life. I know many people who think they know better will think iPhones are for n00bs or geeks, but it really isn't a bad bit of kit when you have all the right apps you need on there and a good service provider (NOT Optus, I and now my family refuse to use the for life also) There is SO much support for the thing too; and its worldwide with accessories everywhere to fit any need you may have.

I seem the very same car this evening heading along next to me on the way into the CBD (Melb) by Albert Park... Blue xr6t, F6 spoiler, rims - YUSLOW plates. I must say the F6 spoiler (or the lip spoiler) do look better; the xr6 looks plain as taxi spec with the small factory one. Also seen a orange xr6t with chrome rims (not sure who/rego) on the way home just after Dandenong (outward bound) driving like an absolute ******! I was embarrassed to drive near him incase I would be associated in any way!

I'm positive the guys with loud exhausts will think you (and I) are crazy, but I agree it sounds better than the original xforce.. Sounds more refined if that makes sense without sounding like a vacuum cleaner above 2000rpm, but not loud and nobody near you at cruising speed will even know you're there! What brand resonators are they; do they restrict your performance at all? (did your tuner have an opinion on them)

Was there a link or thread to the discussion regarding the different sized mufflers available on the Xforce systems? I remember seeing it somewhere but couldn't find it again in the search.. Also I swear it had pictures in it and now none of the topics on the Xforce stuff has pictures.

From what I understand there is a louder and a quieter Xforce system; which did you have fitted? If you arent sure; call your shop and ask.. The pipe you are speaking of is extra yes, any good shop should know its needed and have told you I'd think??

Is your still under warranty? Mine fell off about a year after purchase and my dealership ordered me a new one, painted it up and put it on for me without a single grunt, groan or 'dunno' lol.. As much I can say I have had bad experience with ford dealers and also good; the problem of getting good and bad service and different answers depending which way the wind blows pisses me off just as much if not more than it all being bad; another FPV to grace my driveway in the future? I HIGHLY doubt it. Good luck mate; I have replaced mine with Force style surrounds on the fact they hold in 100x better; kept the originals as spares. Try 'Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage' for your replacement parts at great prices - new or used parts btw.
