Cool, going by that yours seems fairly quiet which is comforting. I just want to hear the turbo and not the exhaust Thanks again! Anybody else got any experience or prices?
-
On a side note, did you go the louder or quieter setup typhoon_freak? Have you got any sound clips? I have a quad setup off a GT, but I do not like it in note or volume; I didn't pay for it which is easy and the only thing I will keep is the stock GT tips haha
-
Thanks for that typhoon_freak; exactly the sort of info I want and need! (top looking car you have there btw, verrry nice)

Thanks for your experience there; is your $1900 price for the same one as in this link? Was there anything else to justify an extra ~$1,000.00? http://www.bestmufflers.com/bshop/product_...8e520e032be100a

As for wanting xforce, I just want a higher than stock flowing exhaust that exits both sides of the rear bumper; it must be quiet however. This is where most people have comments saying the Xforce system with large mufflers is best. I've also seen a few xr6t's around that were very quiet so I asked the owners what they ran, most come back saying xforce. And of course I have done *some* (haha) research, I am aware of the different systems available from xforce, the loud/quiet/twin/single/sizes/stainless/mild steel and then you have the APS system which is also very good and comparable in some ways, however I don't like the cat on their system and the idea it costs significantly more from what I've been told (plus, I have the hi flow cat and dump pipe already from xforce and so far happy as) That being said I just don't know what people are paying for this system installed.. The few places I spoke to so far have quoted 1800/1900+ OR don't range or recommend the xforce; but of course they have other systems which are preferred (redback, herrod, smb, aps, ces and even difilippo altho I ask for QUIET) Is there ANY reason you would steer clear of xforce? Thanks

I have been quoted 1900 and 2250 for the exhaust only now. Both seem over priced; but I don't know any better.. unfortunately hey lol. Going by that link, its totally different, 2x the price: http://www.bestmufflers.com/bshop/product_info.php?cPath=119_346_485&products_id=891&osCsid=c23ec1636ad791a0d8e520e032be100a Any input guys? Is it 'wrong' to buy the exhaust from a website and take it to a shop to fit and tune as they were overcharging for the supply of the exhaust?
-
Anyone? Surely while everyone is home roasting in this heat you can click reply haha

Hi guys! Just a quick one, as I know so many people on here run X-Force exhaust systems; I'd like to openly ask what you guys have paid for them. I am aware there is previous threads on the X-Force gear and have read everything I could on here before starting this topic, however nothing really details price for the setup I need. So if anyone know what I should pay to have an X-Force stainless steel quad setup installed from the cat on my F6; please reply or PM me if you wish. On a side note, having searched this to such length I read there is a louder and quieter muffler choice; so I wanted to add how quiet is the quiet option? If anyone has some pictures or details that would be very useful when it comes time to order! Oddly, I have contacted (via email and phone) some site sponsors up to almost 2 weeks ago but have not heard back from them.. hope they see this and realise I am not a time waster. Cheers

I too would highly recommend Advanced Alloy Wheel Repairs; I have to go pick up a rim off them his week! Taken lots of rims to them and they have always come back in great shape; unless it is a bad gouge into the alloy, it can be almost impossible to tell it was repaired The guys from Advanced.. should sponsor the site or something because nearly every ford or FPV I see with nice wheels (either stock or aftermarket) has scratches on them - yuk !

Yep, fuel pump is also a must do when your running big numbers, cheap mod but huge peace of mind factor for sure. Its the sort of stuff your tuner *should* explain and recommend to you when you approach them with the usual sort of mods/requests..

Hi mate, first off welcome and nice car! Funny how these cars are really sooo good stock, yet the owners after just a few days of ownership will always feel their potential and suss out the performance mods which are considered 'must do' these days for the turbo 6 cyl fords. With anything more than an air filter change on these cars, you will need to dyno tune (usually referred to as a custom tune on here) with a flash box which is the Capa flash card you speak of I think; it is essentially a small box that you plug into the ECU to load on the desired tune (very very easy really). The xforce exhaust seems to be a safe bet; many of the guys on here run the system with no complaints so that seems like a winner; the cooler upgrade you are considering will definitely help on the hot days to keep her running consistent in traffic etc and keep in mind it should flow considerably better than the stock cooler meaning you can run a bit more boost safely on a good custom tune. Result being more power/torque. I would honestly expect from those 2 mods alone you would be looking close to 280rwkw and if you have a bf I would recommend putting some higher rated injectors in for starters to get it up to 300rwkw territory and ask your tuner of choice on what else they recommend if the budget allows.. Best thing is you really can not go wrong with these cars; everything helps and almost everything is noticeable and worthwhile. Good luck and check out the forums in detail; heaps of info floating around. PS: Is yours BA BF FG, Auto or Manual?

I had this happen on my old NF II Fairlane AND my NL Fairlane, but not the BF. It is usually from poor build material that has weakened over time and become brittle etc or too much pressure I was told. I cannot say I have read of this on many new model cars as much as the older ones (not just ford)...
-
Ive had a few different tunes; one being from HPF. Rear wheel KW reading was the lowest out of all so I will say it now first off, if your in it for bragging rights with numbers I wouldn't say that's what they're about.. On that note, their tune felt incredibly even and drivable with a table top FLAT torque "curve" so it was a real pleasure to drive day to day without worrying about huge boost spikes or power spikes where it would break loose no matter the caution taken like my first tune elsewhere. Better to drive that stock and much more power = good. I will honestly say I am considering getting a tune elsewhere for the fact I am now getting considerably worse fuel economy and I had a few hiccups with service (again, not a day to day issue for all their clients, it was more a one off thing that I came across).

I too have this noise and have had in since I got my car new, 45k ago!! I took it to ford who said they cant fix it and it would take too long to pull the dash out and that if I make them do it, it ay induce MORE rattles :S I took the A pillar trim off and found that to do nothing, but the sound stops if I push the dash down or in to the windscreen; the noise is worse in the cold but I have sadly gotten used to it.. used to make me furious.. I hope somebody can work this out
-
The mats I seen in the FG FPV were the same as my BF FPV.. They are so plain and boring, but I guess that's better than in your face and being showy IMHO! I have not had any issues with mine, still like new 2ys and 45,000kms on.
-
Thanks for the info mate! =) I was thinking that would be the case as it wouldn't drive the way it does if they removed the tune; it would be all over the place and horrible no doubt. The car was again driving awesome today; just worried about the diff bush now. Is it more or do you guys get the same feeling of 'its one thing after another after another.."
-
I guess my best bet is to speak to my local dealership where I got the car from, they seem to be s little nicer to me since I got the car there. Each time I ask the smallest of questions at X dealership I didn't outlay on a new FPV, I seem to get my head bitten off (ford service is awesome I know) I might think of some other things I would like them to look at and mention it, see if they say "hold up, that ones no longer covered buddy" haha Is there only 1 diff bush to replace or more?
-
Yer, I think I am just as confused too now haha; anyone reading this with some input or answers, please pass on your thoughts. Learning time
-
Are you saying when they claimed to have "reset the transmission ecu" they have removed my custom tune? I was under the impression it was a separate ECU for the trans the reset... The car is 100% tuned for my mods yes, nothing has ever been done to the ZF in regards to tuning or servicing etc before this oil/filter/pan change over which then bought on the 'reset'.
-
The car runs a tune as there is a few things done; the obvious things are exhaust/larger black IC the rest is stealthy.. What do you think my odds are on getting the diff bush replaced under warranty lol; the only suspension related mods is swaybars, nothing else at all like springs/shocks/lowering/camber kits..
-
The car is modified so I don't take it to ford for much, if anything haha! I was thinking the shifts were a little laggy and rougher than they used to be (45,000kms) so I booked it in to have the service at a non ford workshop. Very happy now that the initial issue has been resolved. Also found out my diff bush is gone now too.. never ending haha; can I claim that under warranty you think?
-
OK guys, I dropped the car off this morning and without even wanting to road test the car they popped it up on the hoist and went over the usuals.. The guys put in an extra 100ml of fords ZF trans fluid (ever so slightly low) and also reset the trans ECU. 20min later I am driving away and now find the car to be smooth as if not smoother than new; VERY HAPPY! So there you go, if anybody reads this in the future after a trans service on the ZF, make sure the oil is EXACTLY spot on and give the ECU a good reset.. worked for me cheers guys
-
I have spoken to the workshop who did the work and they agree it is far from normal so it will be back in there first thing in the morning. I hope it goes back to how it was or better as I first expected. I will keep you guys up to date with what they find.

Hi guys n girls! Just after some info, ideas and reassurance I guess.. I have a ZF 6 speed in a F6, 45,000kms; just had it serviced (pan/filter + ford $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ oil) last thursday and after picking it up and driving it home I have noticed it doesn't drive like it used to. It feels as if it doesn't know which gear its in when you start accelerating from a stop as it seems to drop into gear before going in (which is obviously not smooth) and it also seems to hold onto gears a lot longer than it used to. I should add the trans also seems to drop into 3rd (very soon after 2nd gear, almost changes two gears right after another) quite roughly whereas it used to be smooth right though to 6th. I have had 2 other people who drive my car fairly often drive it since and both have commented the trans is doing 'funny things'/'slow changes' compared to how it used to drive. I didn't even ask them about how it drove, they both mentioned it on their own merit.. so now I am worrying. I am hoping it is maybe 'learning' my driving style again but I am not sure as to why it would be doing this.. The only reason I got it serviced was to sharpen up the changed, make it run smoother/quieter again and it seems to have made things WORSE! What do you think is the problem; is this at all normal?

I too got a new BF Typhoon for my 21st birthday present; from myself. Interesting how many young people who are willing to spend some decent coin on their car go for these and not a pov pack euro.. interesting to me at least hehe.
