Passenger Side Airbag Cover
I've got the exact same thing in mine when at idle. Drives me insane... But like you, don't have the balls to pull apart the dash to find it. Airbags frighten me! So my vote is that you take the risk, try it... and then tell me what the problem is!

Over 6'3 Anyone Else Wanting To Lower Their Leather Drivers Seat F
Yeah I find the driving position way too high as well, I'm 6'7" and 115kg and my old VR4 had a much better driving position. The Falcon has a lot more leg room, and head room, but the roof line is very low right in front of you. I have toyed with the idea of seeing a car upholstery place and getting them to 'trim' some of the padding from the leather seats and re stitch. Dunno if this would work though.

Boost Control Solenoid Maintenance & Cleaning (Barra Turbo)
Finally did this in my BA T. Didn't get a big difference but could definitely notice an improvement in response, particularly down low. Like others with the BA I found that the top tube was not clamped on, and the nipple was metal. Was easy enough to do without removing the battery, however I did shift the coolant reservoir and remove the intake pipe to allow easy access. Didn't bother unbolting the solenoid itself, just constant gentle upwards pressure pulling the tube off did the trick and once WD40 is in there, its a piece of cake slotting it back on.

Xr6t + Snow = Slippery
Snow definitely did not agree with my XR6T when trying to get up a hill. I was crawling along at 5km an hour... sideways, trying desperately to keep the rear end from hitting cars on the side of the road. Traction control wasn't helping one bit. Everytime I touched the accelerator the back would swing out. I would accelerate a little, get sideways, back off the gas and would get a bit of forward momentum. Not a nice feeling having that little control, and I was scared that if I stopped I would slide backwards. Worst part was, I was being overtaken by little front wheel drives with no torque that weren't having any problems... Damn Hondas.

Help! Whats Wrong With The Car?
A burn that's lasted for two years... brilliant. The only thing stupider than why this was first started is that I just read all 32 pages. I need a hobbie.

Buying A Xr6 Turbo, Is There Any Problem With The Mk1's?
I got my 03 XR6T 4sp Auto, Leather interior, premium sound, 70km's, for NZ$22k (bout $20k Aussie) in February and absolutely love the car. Plus I got an 18month full mechanical warranty and roadside assist thrown in. I've never thought twice about the purchase, in fact, for the amount of car for the price, I feel like I robbed the guy I bought it off. Don't think, just buy. You will not regret the decision!

Advise
I'd suggest getting the rear diff looked at, sounds like it could be the "normal" diff clunk which is experienced by many people but would be worth getting it checked out for piece of mind before modding. After they have had a few k's put on them they do seem to get a bit sloppy. As for the gearbox issue, does it happen under full acceleration or just normal driving? And does it happen in Performance, Adaptive, or Sports mode or all of the above? If it's just under normal driving it could simply be the box being a bit indecisive as to which gear to hold, but if it was happening under WOT I would probably be getting someone to take a look at that too.

Car Theft Ratings
We've got guys over here in NZ who lie on the road waiting for cars to stop, then they beat them up & pinch their car. It's been in the news a bit lately because on one particular street a 'youth gang' (who live in a state house) has been doing it on a regular basis, outside their own bloody house no less!! And the retarded Housing New Zealand decided that there were not sufficient grounds to evict them, go figure!

V6 For Falcon
Laggy twins?? I'd put money on smaller twins spooling up much faster than a big single. Coming from a twin turbo v6 VR4 into my XR6T, I can honestly say that my VR4 was at full boost much sooner than the T. I admit that the twin snails on the 2.0 V6 were tiny, but still good for 18psi. IMHO this new engine could have huge performance potential, lets not bag it before someone has a chance to play with one! But... despite my optimism, I'm pissed that they are changing. And sympathies to all those who will lose their jobs (both directly and indirectly) as a result of the switch. People are always going to go for the cheaper options and unfortunately they are not made in Australia (or NZ for that matter). It seems like every couple of weeks that something changes, either politically or financially, and kicks NZ manufacturers in the balls. Oh well, perhaps my XR6T will be that collectors car that in 50 years time I will wish that I had never sold!!

Hello Fellas Time To Intraduce My Self
I'm 6'7" and find the headroom to be OK but the top of the windscreen is way too low, I would also be getting in line if they made a lowering kit for the seats.

Car Changing Time - Help Decide Which One Or None !
Definitely keep the F6. If you absolutely must change to one of the other options I would go for the EVO. Had a bit of experience with the mitsi's and it is very easy to get a significant power gain from them for little investment. Unfortunately I had to get rid of my mitsi to buy my XR6T (stoked to have the T though!!), but I will buy one again at some stage. If you like space, comfort AND power, stick with what you've got. Being 6'7" and 115kg, one thing I'm not missing about the Mitsi is the lack of space! Although the Falcon's front roofline is still a bit low for my liking. My 2c. Good luck deciding!

I've Just Been Summons..ed...
Rules are rules. And by not taking 10 minutes out of your life to answer the questions you're the one wasting the courts' time and money. Fill it out next time, save yourself and the Aussie taxpayer time and money!.... But your right, a court case is BS.

Give Him A Medal !
A guy here in NZ shot a guy who was trying to rob his gun shop with a machete, gave him a round to the stomach, and got charged by the police. Needless to say he was found not-guilty. Seems like a blatant waste of tax payers money charging him though! If he hadn't shot the guy, all the guns that he would have stolen would have wound up in gang members hands and been used to shoot/kill more innocent people. I think the police need to start upholding laws relating to self-defence rather than instantly trying to charge the person who had the weapon.

Round Abouts
that's crazy!! Nothing gets me fired up like stopping (and thus holding up traffic) for someone indicating right, only to have the mentally challenged driver carry on straight through! I have also driven straight into the side of someone when we were both driving through the roundabout and the tool decides to turn right from the left lane beside me. But it was in my old POS Honda Accord so I wasn't terribly concerned... somewhat stoked actually. But had it been in my XR, rest assured I would have been out of the car with profanities screaming and my fists-a-blur! There definately needs to be more driver education when it comes to roundabouts. Also, I don't know about over in Oz, but here in NZ the cops don't seem too interested in ticketing drivers for incorrect use of roundabouts. Might be time for a blitz on them I think!

Brake Recall Announced
I just took my BA XR6T into my local ford dealer over here in NZ for a service. I asked about this brake hose issue , they swore black and blue that they knew nothing about it. Reckon I should be giving Ford NZ a call?

My Engine Lurches After A Cold Start
I get the exact same thing in my BA XR6T. When driving along the engine will surge up and down while I'm maintaining the same pressure on the accelerator, however, when accelerating it seems fine. I'm guessing it may be something to do with the throttle body or TPS causing this, but wouldn't have a clue, so am keen to see if anyone has had this problem and has found a fix.

Ghost Story
Just thought I'd add my own story to the mix... Apparently strange things happen in NZ too. When I was 10 I woke up in the middle of the night and saw an old man dressed in white, hunched over walking down the hallway past my bedroom. I naturally proceeded to s**t myself and lay awake for the rest of the night terrified. In the morning I went into my parents room and told them that we had a burglar in the house. I was adamant that we had been robbed but couldn't find anything missing. I saw the same man on two other occasions in the same circumstances over the next couple of years. When we moved out of the house (when I was about 14) I was having a chat with the old man and he admitted to me that him and my mum had always heard footsteps walking up and down the hallway and would never get up at night to go the the bathroom. He also told me that one night he woke up feeling like he was being strangled and when he looked up, there was an old man dressed in white with a hunched back sitting on the end of his bed looking at him. He also told of chills (which I also experienced) when opening the door into the hallway. Thank f**k he didn't tell me this when I was living there!! Anyway, after doing renovations to the house, not another peep was heard (or seen) and the weird feelings went away too. I don't believe in an afterlife and am the most anti-religious person you would meet but I constantly contradict myself everytime I think about what I saw. Oh and 245T, I had the same repeat dream but with the oldman and trying to yell but nothing came out and I couldn't run away either... It also stopped once I shifted house. Crazy!

Gearbox Throwing Its Toys?
Hi all, first prob with 03 BA XR6T, and hence first post! First things first, awesome site, seems to be heaps of people in the know with damn near every issue covered somewhere amongst the threads, so pretty sure someone will have advise or similar experiences to the following: Driving down a steep hill engine braking locked in 2nd (4speed auto), came to stop at lights, box shifted to 1st as it does, took of very slowly, revs built to around 2500... Gearbox clunked and was then obviously coasting, tried switching back to adaptive mode whilst still rolling, no joy, check engine/transmission light came on almost immediately. Next thing engine oil light came on and beeping started, engine cut (still rolling down steep hill) and subsequently lost power to brakes/steering. After wrestling car to a stop and restarting, everything seemed fine. Took to local Ford dealer, they said they found fault codes but could give no reason as to why they occurred. They cleared them, test drove, and returned the car. My Q is what do the following codes mean: P1270-63 PCM P2105-63 PCM P2110-63 PCM and should I be worried about it happening again? Cheers in advance, Sam.
