Hi, guys currently drive a 05 Ba xr6t 4sp and its starting to develop a annoying clunk on decelleration mainly I know its a common problem with these vehicles and when you turn sharply you can hear a clunking noise from the rear end. Another issue that has me worried about modifying the thing when I try to accelerate I dont know if the box slips but the revs increase as per normal it then drops a few revs then continues hard to explain like its in 3rd then changes to 4th really when it doesnt need to any advise. Ive purchased a few things lately to start modding but now having second thoughts esp the box.

I'd suggest getting the rear diff looked at, sounds like it could be the "normal" diff clunk which is experienced by many people but would be worth getting it checked out for piece of mind before modding. After they have had a few k's put on them they do seem to get a bit sloppy.

As for the gearbox issue, does it happen under full acceleration or just normal driving?

And does it happen in Performance, Adaptive, or Sports mode or all of the above?

If it's just under normal driving it could simply be the box being a bit indecisive as to which gear to hold, but if it was happening under WOT I would probably be getting someone to take a look at that too.

If your talking about 3rd and 4th gear when driving normally or slow to a cruise, it's normal in the 4speed auto, I don't know the details but there was a thread ages ago bout the same thing, it maybe to do with the torque convertor? it's like the box has a 1/2 gear like 3rd then 3.5. Anyways it's NORMAL no need to worry unless it's slipping and reving without going anywhere fast then engages that'd be a worry.

Thanks mate ill do a search or something you pretty much summed up the symptoms. I thought something to do with the torque convertor maybe.
