no need for that, you want to discuss things fine, no need for personal attacks. that's what I've done, if you havnt any qualifications of your own, or any experience similar to that, then dont get all sh*tty now. ive invited tab to meet me in person and repeat that for everybody on this forum im multiskilled, if your not its not my bloody problem.

if you had actually bothered to use the mac os for any extended period of time, I reckon you would realise how much faster / bug free it is compared to ANY version of windows. and I keep saying I can do everything on my mac that you can do. if you want to be silly and say that I cant run pc apps, I can run crossover and run any pc app direct from the desktop, that includes all your games. installing a new printer on a pc: plug in> found new hardware> insert disc (maybe) > finding> new hard ware is installed> use it installing new printer on a mac: plug in> press print no prompts or anything. same when I bought my new DNS-323 NAS device, it was listed as windows only, but would work on mac, and do you think I could get it to work on vista or xp without problems? no. plug it into the network and it just appears on the mac, no problem at all. you put a CD in and it appears on the desktop like it should, to show theres a disc in there, if theres no disc they'll be no icon. - makes sense. on windows if theres a disk or not you still get a stupid icon and if you click it it gives you an error. so for a new user that's a pain in the arse. windows is and will always be, a clumsy, bloated, and slow operating system. end of the day. im working for an old lady fixing her ceiling at the moment, and she has an old imac, and she told me that in 3 years (of being a novice home user) she hasnt had a single virus or spyware related problem. THAT ALONE is enough reason to get one.

not trying to have a go at you but you tell me one thing (besides playing a certain game - we all know macs havnt got a lot of games at the moment) that you specifically need a pc to do. im actually planning on getting a mac laptop some time soon as well.

come on, you have to do better than that. I just said, probably 70% of my business with windows customers over the years was virus and spyware related, so how is it that your network can be any different. ive worked with guys that actually write software that goes inside a major MS program, there probably the brainiest I.T. guys I have ever met, and they cant do what your saying, so explain to me how you can these guys are MS Certified Everything, DBA, MCSE, certified trainers, the works. they are partners with MS themselves, in business together. I wont say what program because I dont want to somehow land them in the sh*t.

[quote name='tab' date='Jun 29 2008, 08:26 PM' post='699964' No offence intended, but you don’t seem to be a very tech-savy person, so that’s a pretty big claim to make. Everything that you need to do perhaps. im an A+ N+ MCP, half way through my MCSE, worked for the biggest IT company in the country for several years, travelled all over the world with them, ran a network for a while (although not on my own) and operated my own pc repair business for about 4 years. I also designed commercial websites for a while, which im actually thinking of doing again since its so easy for me now. im actually thinking of doing some linux stuff so I can learn the mac inside and out, I dont think I need to learn any more windows sh*te.

I had a business for several years, and my sole earner of $$$ from this business was driving to clients houses (corporate and home) fixing virus and spyware problems on windows machines, I can honestly say that I have had 2 phone calls over several years to fix a mac. I ran a network with a similar size amount of end users, windows server 2003, windows xp and 2k, and there was two of us doing it, you cant say that you never had a virus, or spyware. im an MCP among other things, so you cant tell me that windows, on 50 desktops, does not have problems, that would be total sh*te, otherwise, why would you even be employed to do the job you do. you must run antivirus on those machine anyway, even though I understand what you said, why should a computer user have to have any knowledge of a computer to operate it safely? (you said unknowledgeable) I agree with you that pcs probably are easier to deal with at the moment, because the training is in place, and the courses are out there. but I could easily go and do an apple course, so could anybody, but im not sure I'll need to.

you must have an opinion? what do you use? ive been told by my cousin whos a C.T.O. gone C.E.O. that their not good for business, but I cant see why because they do everything windows does. I remember years ago you could walk into myer and choose from at least 5 totally different computer platforms, which all had their strengths and weaknesses, and since then theres been just windows. it would be good to go back to where you have more of a choice. like theirs ford, and holden, and hyandai, you know what I mean. ANYTHING you can do on a pc, can be done on a mac, but easier. I dont care what it is.

I agree totally with that, the games argument will only be good for a short time longer though, because all macs come with good video cards, and lack of software support (game wise) I think will be a thing of the past as apple is now the 4th largest pc manufacturer last time I checked. anyways I have my console for games. its just crazy that windows has been popular for so long, I think its because governments had macs, and they were too easy, so the governments of the world cant be seen to be efficient, because it reduces beurocracy. so they went with windows and dos and all that sh*te. that's my opinion anyways. nsw transport made the complete switch to mac, and apparently their TCO of equipment is nothing now. police still use macs, last time I was locked up they were anyways.

are you for or against the mac, im confused. nothing at all, there complete opposites. but these windows lovers that I keep running into seem to rave on about how good linux is, even though its difficult to use. mac is just easy linux.

intel is just the processor, the cheapest one around. you get these windows freaks, that love windows to death, and then they go on about linux and how great it is, and that's just mac anyways.

just got myself an imac about a month ago, and wondering if anybody else uses one. been putting it off for ages, and finally said stuff it and bought one 20inch model intel core duo, which can dual boot windows but I dont because why would I want to, im even using open office out of protest. very happy with it, it has crashed once, and that was due to me installing sh*te memory in it. havnt ran a virus or spyware program in over a month, no need to defrag, and all my things work without even a prompt coming up to install them. I plugged my brother laser multifunction in and pressed print - not a single message, and the page prints - never used it before. my parents also bought an imac and a macbook, and mum loves it. im probably not appreciating how good they really are as much being computer literate, mums doing all kinds of sh*t she couldnt do before. I actually thought I wouldnt be able to do a few things that I could do on my pc, encode movies etc. torrents all that stuff, and I found all the stuff I needed in the first few hours of setting it up. anyways I know the'll be a few bill gates decipels that will love to rip the sh*t out of me, so go on.
  15. that's what I thought, so they should be replacing them, well any that go early on anyways, im sure everybody agrees that a radiator should last more than a few years. anyways, contrary to reading what I've read on this post, I think ill be getting a brand new triton 4x2 trayback, for under $20k brand new. its an asian built car, so I dont believe its as bad as alot of people make out, my mrs had a lancer (cheap one) and it never had a problem, everybody I have spoken to (that has owned a mitsi) about mitsubishi just gives me glowing reports, except the people on this forum, so im not sure what the deal is with that. I agree the hilux ute is a great ute and wont break, but I prefer the triton ute (by looks), which sits higher, so I can drive over sh*t, and it has full protection under it (bash plates etc) I believe it also has an mp3 player, which somebody else on this forum said it didnt. any brand new ute with tray on road for under 20 is a great deal as far as im concerned, and it has a 5 yr 130k warranty. I just think the cost of labor is far too high in australia, and we have it too easy in the workplace when compared to the asian countries, which seem to make much better cars / utes. (how this translates to poorly built vehicles I dont know but it must - maybe high cost of labor means cheap components in vehicles) I bought a ford because I thought it was better than the holden, but it was actually worse all said and done. at least my VR and VS utes didnt have any real problems till they hit the 140k mark. Although they still felt cheap when compared to toyota and the likes. Edit: Please don't quote the preceding post Click here for further info
