You don't use it on the journals cos it can prevent the oil coming through properly iirc.

 

As far as the lobes go they just need to be wet with oil as they would be when you normally start it. There is no need for assembly lube there but it wouldn't hurt it per se.

Limited regions to inspect , but what is visible looks to show minimal surface damage/wear.

Out of interest. How many kms has that engine travelled?

Given my recent experience I would say that’s normal wear for an engine that’s travelled 80k as that’s what my undamaged lobes looked like as seen in my pics.

Thought I'd post here rather than a new thread.
Had the rocker cover off tonight and noticed a slight mark on one of the intake cam lobes. This is the only one affected the rest are perfect. Is this something to be worried about?? You can just feel it with your finger naila15bab6e973c413f93aa72f8f181fa85.jpg
