Cheers - frames are the only real difference between shops?

Am going to get pretty much the same glass regardless other than options I choose myself?

I've gotten sunnies before from online (vision direct - prices seemed excellent) and notice you can order prescription glasses off them too (would need my prescription though). Do I just ask an optometrist for the prescription, or is it something they are not wanting to release (for that reason)?

I've found they're usually pretty open with telling you your prescription...just bring it up casually after they've tested your eyes. Don't get the transitional lenses either, I found them to be really annoying.

Bloody hell - just been looking at frames

How the hell are you meant to choose your first set?

I've got a pretty good idea of what I don't like, but trying to work out what I do is pretty daunting

Try them on in front of a mirror, go with what you think suits your face shape the best and gives you adequate field of view :spoton:

Yeah it sucks choosing frames! Especially when you are a big bald ugly bastard like me and at some point in the process realise that rolling yourself in sprinkles doesn't make you ice cream!

Not sure on lens differences but choice/brands of frames seems to be main differentiator. I would buy sunglasses online, but everyday glasses I reckon you need to try them on.

You (and medicare) pay for the eye test, so any place should just write it up and hand it over if you ask.
