I went through an insurance broker and the best they came up with was VACC at $731. Then I shopped around myself and couldn't beat it.

Then when I went to AAMI to cancel my old policy the offered me the $588.

Keep shopping

I notice a lot of you seem to be with AAMI.

I was told they were a giant bunch of pr1cks and to keep well away, as they will go to great lengths to avoid a payout.... anoecdotal evidence.

Old dude crashes car, AAMI assesor asked "was crack in windscreen their before accident"

O.D is honnest and says "yes don't need to replace windscreen"

AAMI says "crack means car not raodworthy at time of accident, no money for you"

Rich Dude rolls Rangie when camping, police arrive, R.D blows 0.5, taken back to cop shop for Blood test, less than 0.5, police happy and no charges laid. AAMI says "you blew 0.5 no $$ for you"

R.D says F.U. sells damaged Rangie for cheap to my mate and lets his lawer loose on AAMI, I think he got $$ in the end but it was not a simple matter.

This was all about 10 years ago perhaps they are better now...

Yeah l have heard 'stories' about AAMI too.

If you are capital city based arent you forced to take your car to their own repair centres  In the country they arent as bad.

I have just got a quote for the T of $850, living in Wyong on the Central Coast of NSW. Car insured for 45,000.

This was with AAMI. 32. Wife 29. No under 25s. No accidents, speeding etc.

I am calling my broker now to see if he can better that.

You can find bad stories on every insurance company - they're all worthless.

A.

l agree Aaron, but all insurance comanies are not all equal and that's why the stories are worth repeating. They arent worthless.

This is as good a reason as any to sell my Mazda and buy a Blood Orange XR6T!!!!!!!!!!

At least the insurance is cheaper!

What is the go with broker?

Do you have to pay them to find you best insurance deal?

I have never used one but am willing to make the call if

A. Someone can recommend one here in Canberra

B. It won't cost me any money

:blush3: But have already been shopping.......

Am willing to recoup the $400 spent elsewhere and spend wisely if I can find appropriate insurer..... and not be ripped a new butt hole in the process!

I'm 23 in VIC and with Ford Insure $997 that's half the price of the nearest competitor for my XR6T. that's also the same amount RACV wanted for my previous car an EFII just before I told them to jam it!

Hmmmm

Some of those prices are ridiculous.

Almost as bad as when I was 20 trying to insure my xr8. (and most places laughed at me)

I am 26 now, and pay a lot less (thank goodness) unlimited mods, agreed value etc etc. I even pay less than astina girl. (and considering my car will be valued at probably twice as much as hers, and I am in sydney - that is weird!!)

lesson to all - buy highly modified V8's, and get cheaper insurance!!
