Just checked google maps, if I get the new job it's just under 15k each way to work. Against the flow of traffic and starting bbefore school zone times will mean under 15 minutes.

Winning.

Almost 1/4 pay cut and no company car will be tough but easily doable. Fingers crossed.

Still a good deal.. Means you actually get to sleep in the house you bought more regularly..

I'm sunburnt from yesterday.. Was doing culvert inspections.. My shirt gotten un-tucked..

I have a strip of very painful sunburn across the top of my arse..

Yeah been weighing it up for months, will be 600m further than current office (when I am there) but 5 mins quicker

half a year of shift work (8 hour shifts), half a year of no mondays (4 x 9hr days), january off, not responsible for makings calls that could cost millions every week, no work phone/email to bother me on weekends.

vs

company car, 12 to 19 hr shifts, different site weekly, some formal training, $8.50 per hour more base rate

Leaning towards the lifestyle choice.

I like the sound oof the new job mate even though the secand job has some benefits (car,hourly rate) at least with the first job you get your life back to do things you want.

Currently a reliability tech, cruise around telling people what machines are on their way out and what parts to fix, and set gear up so it will last longer.

New job will be back on the tools a bit more, a bit of reliability stuff as they have no one that specialises in that stuff, shift fitter for half the year and maybe even a move towards chemistry again in a year or two.

Just got back from interview, will hopefully get the call today and then give my boss the call.

Did the same a month ago and don't regret it one bit. Now work about 40 hours a week (and that's still more than almost anyone else here), no phonecalls through the night, no weekend work, no dramas, minimal f'wits.

Is still taking a bit of getting used to!
