11.6 In Perspective

Just reading about Geea's effort in Adelaide.

Clearly the cars listed below will out drive/handle any family sedan, but for pure straight line performance, I wanted to see how it stacks up against some of the best. My source is Feb 2005 Motor mag.

BMW M3 CSL $210K - 13.40

Ferrari F575M $551K - 12.80

Jaguar XKR $209K - 13.83

Lamborghini Gallardo $400K - only a 13.46

Lamborghini Murcielago $600K - close, 11.73 ( 0-100 3.60 )

Porsche 911 GT2 $400K - 12.19 and embarrased by a Falcon

So boys and girls, to buy that level of performance off a dealer's floor, best look at selling the house.

Why is everyone on this site obsessed by 1/4 mile times?? they aren't the be all and end all of a car..

11.6 is a damn fine effort from the big girl in my books.. But geez, comparing a modified XR6T to a GT2??

cmon... most of those cars would crack 300km/h safely and get back to 0kmph in a split....

Geea's would prolly get to 300, but I doubt he'll take it there, hell I wouldn't..

XR6 Turbo = Ultimate bang for bucks when stock but even better for modding. No doubt about it

Bang for buck...

Let's not forget the standard WRX. According to Motor it will put down a 14.0 ¼ mile in stock form and costs a couple of grand less than an XR6T. However the WRX auto is nowhere near as quick as the manual apparently which is why I didnt even consider buying one. Apparently its also more drivable than the STi.

I wonder how much it would cost to get a WRX down to 11s? Perhaps someone could shed some light on this??

I think a WRX is great bang for buck as a stocker, or with light mods, but I dont know if 10k would get you into the 11's
