  1. Ive done 160,000km and am very close for pad replacement, thought I may as well replace rotors too rather than have them machined. Nothing to stop me getting lighter wheels AND lighter rotors. Ill visit the DBA website. what do the stock rotors weigh?
  2. I have an 08 XR6T with standard brakes for the model. Are there any weight savings to be had by going for DBA or other rotors? Are the materials different? I dont do track work so Im happy with the braking, but wouldnt mind a modest upgrade to the brakes as long as the weight is reduced.
  3. Happy Birthday TurboDewd!

  4. glovebox lamp location - at the top of the glove box is a catch to stop it pulling out all the way. press this plastic catch down and pull forward, the glovebox will fully flop down. just above the base of the glovebox, on the left, u will find the brown bit where u insert your T10 bulb. piss easy. I am now double blue in the foot zone. I am sure this will get me laid. (Im married so that shouldnt be an issue)
  5. This guide certainly works. I got a quad bulb blue T10 12V from Jaycar for about $2.50 and it works a treat in the driver side fusebox area. Now to find the glovebox area one. I have an 08 XR6T with prem sound. Can someone give me good instructions on where the glovebox area one is? I see the glovebox has its own light, but cant find the footwell one???
  6. In Canberra. Recommendations? Not seeking major power, maybe 300kW at engine will do. Also, is the factory tune a bit rich, lean or just right? Wondering if I could get any extra fuel economy improvements from such a tune.
  7. Well Ive done 70,000km and just had my swaybar linkages replaced as they were beginning to make dull clunks over even just modest bumps. $300 later and the dull clunk has gone. apart from that my June 08 FG is saweeeeeeeeeeeet!
  8. not only do the 180SXs weigh about 1000kg, virtually all the ones I see look like theyre worth $1000! Busted front spoilers, different colored panels, stickers and a pimply teen behind the wheel. Oh an enormous exhaust tips
  9. hmm, this is an old thread. I now have an 08 FG T and I am very impressed with the car. My only gripe is the external temp readout is always 4 deg below actual temp. I dont care about that though. Ford Oz have fixed about 20 things with this car compared to my 2003 BA Turbo. The fuel economy is awesome consider the vehicle size and power and torque on tap. Amazable!
  10. Well Im not alone in thinking it a little weird Certainly didnt lose any sleep over it. And she is not my cup of tea despite being a cool gal...
  11. Ok, playin a boardgame sunday arvo. Mate's gf brings the previously-ordered pizzas. Just 4 fellas and his gf. Anyway, we agreed she would get a slice of each of the fellas 4 pizzas - no worries. The weird bit, to me, was that the gf when she got to my pizza, took one of my discarded crusts as well?!?! Bit strange. Personally, I would prefer my gf not eat any other dudes crust. Its like a little jealousy thing I guess, but still, weird!
  12. I think Nitro is great. dont fret about this getting dated notion. Go with what you like and dont doubt your decision. Nitro is a great color, just like Blueprint was. Blueprint should always be in the Ford lineup.
  13. mate, I have the same problem...but I dont even have anything attached to my key! I find when braking my knee will brush on the key unit just enough to bug me a smidge. This was a slight annoyance with my BA too. I like the shape of the headrests now, they sculpt into the back of the neck better.
  14. Is there a weight saving on this bonnet vs factory one? If so, how much? That would be a very super goodly bonus if there was one!
  15. Hi WhiteTee aka Buf-phoon Very well, my juicy brain will to be puttings together an off topic poll. But also an on topic one. ******************** FG comments re performance/handling: The acceleration is phenom...both standing start and floor-it-while-cruising. Steering feels crisper/tauter. I vaguely recall reading that a new aussie-designed steering rack is in these which has a new design. Handling feels superior too, but then again Im not the type of driver who pushes such cars too near their limits thru twisties. mmm...cheese Twisties.... LOL @ Zap signature...
  16. Well I just did some highway driving in my 08 FG T and Im impressed! I have the 6-spd auto obviously and from Canb to Melb got a tremendous 8.93L/100km. I always reset my A trip meter when I fillup and noted how many Ks I did and how many L I put in at the next stop. That figure was my manual calc. My current all-time economy reads 9.6L/100km. My BA used to read 11.4, admittedly my drive to work is fairly fuel effic and I had been doing a fair amount of highway driving of late. But 9.6! Amazing!
  17. I just got an 08 FG auto and am stoked with it. Breeze, leather, premium sound, 19"s - awesome! Here's what Ive noticed compared to my 03 BA: Improvements found in FG over BA: • Driver and passenger seat belt no longer rub on plastic b-pillar shroud because there is no shroud anymore • Rear visibility over spoiler improved because spoiler is lower • Fuel tank cap now attached to fuel tank door • FG now has shroud around fuel intake, whereas in BA u could see the ground below • Sun visor no longer uncomfortably close to face when in use • Base of handbrake area now neatly covered (very ugly area in the BA) • Numbers in speedo now all horizontal, in BA they would curve around the dial and become less immediately readable • Rear doors open wider • Central dash vents are positioned below the ICC screen • Key is a single flip-style unit • Front bar now has a lower grille • Ceiling lights now more user-friendly, dont have buttons, u just press the larger area of the light itself • Telescopic adjustment of steering column added • latch under bonnet requires upward movement rather than push left, this is more logical coz youre lifting the bonnet up Features now worse in FG over BA: • Unlockable fuel cover!! • Overly complicated and less user-friendly ICC buttons for controlling stereo and temperature. In particular there are no protruding dials which are are easier to reach for without having to look for them. • Auto dash lighting feature – awfully annoying! I want to control when my speedo and odo light up! This is my number one FG dislike.
  18. I tend to agree but 38-40 would be private sale, when u buy thru a dealer u will pay a bit more. And, alas, I had to have Breeze and there were no others about.
  19. well I just yesterday got a 2008 FG in Breeze (metallic aqua for those not in the know), auto, with 18,000km on the clock after selling my 2003 BA XR6T - fantastic. leather, prem sound, reverse camera - awesome. The improvements are everywhere. thrilled to bits with it so far. Just need to register the bugger in the ACT tomoro. $43,500 from a Syd dealer. Still trying to work out how the dimming on the dash works....bit puzzling compared to BA.
  20. ok, fair enuff. as for fuel prices, I dont mind paying 80 for a tank but when its 90 or 100! that's psychamologically too high..I mean im still ok paying it...coz I just loves me Aussie super car Falcon X R 6 Tee. why dont more ppl like Breeze? I think its nice, I bet chicks dig it.
  21. I note the base model price for an XR6 Turbo has jumped $1100. I thought this didnt start till March?!?!? anyone? was I wrong? whats the deal?
  22. I remember a poll in about 2003 or 2004 which showed Blueprint was the most popular color back then, followed by Phantom (purple) I think. whats it these days?
  23. best two I saw of late were on a Crewman: I love sluts and I support single mums (it had a silouhette pic of a pole dancer)
  24. well you can risk yourself with a WRX. I have a work colleague who has a 2006 WRX which just lost its engine, the oil pressure light came on and then moments later awful sounds came from the engine area - he ran dry of oil! Engine is being replaced under warranty. Admittedly my colleague didnt check his oil regularly, last checked September he believes, and he drives it vigorously too. Still, that is dodgy. I have a 2003 BA Falcon Turbo which has had 2 faults: * Heater motor failed - replaced under warranty * wiper squirter motor has failed - fixed, failed again, theyre actually made by Nippondenso. Its a low priority so it remains unfixed at this point in time. Best car Ive owned.
  25. from actual experience it depends on whether youre losing traction. When I went to WSID in 2004 I forgot to turn off TC and ran my best time, it was my first run too. The bottom line was that leaving it on or off made no diff - I wasnt breaking traction. Now if youre pumping like 300rwkW plus then...dunno. Also if youre a manual I suspect leaving TC off is wiser, just expect big variations in your ETs.
