  1. Yeah I know! And I didn't even get called champ or bud. A couple of quick questions guys. To get a front door off (which should be extra easy as the front guards are gone), I've obviously got to disconnect the door wiring. Is it just a matter of prying out the rubber boot near the hinges and there should be a wiring connector in there somewhere? Also if someone is looking for a full conversion, is it basically ECU, BEM, ignition barrel, drivers door lock and keys? Is that enough to prevent any recoding from a security perspective?
  2. So far this weekend, I've had 6 people booked from Gumtree or Facebook to pick up parts and all 6 have turned up! Totally different experience to trying to sell it. Everyone who had come has stopped and chatted for a while about their cars. Dropped a diff cradle for the first time time. Took about 2.5 hours, but would be quicker next time. Would definitely be quicker with an impact wrench too.
  3. Mate I'm wrecking my BA and have the phone power adaptor plugged in under the dash. I always liked it because I could splice into it without cutting into factory wiring and could therefore unplug my own wiring if I was chasing a fault. If you PM me your address I'll send it to you for free. Already has some wiring spliced into it that you can join too. As Keith says, it doesn't help with on with headlights issue though.
  4. I used to drive VXs and VZs heap for work when I had my EL. The gearboxes were chalk and cheese. The Daewoos were rubbish. I've always liked the BTR - super smooth and good ratio spacing. After a few weeks with the ZF though, I'm in love.
  5. Yeah fitting was fine from memory - just wedged a spanner in there. Didn't want to play this time, so went the angle grinder. Front end might get the same treatment so I can get the engine and box out together.

  8. Listed the BA for parting and it's going off like a frog in a sock. Should have done this a few weeks back! First thing to seek was the exhaust so I guess I'm dropping a diff cradle later tonight.

  10. Out of interest, what do you guys reckon a 168k BA turbo motor is worth? I'm doing my sums for parting out and it does look attractive. Engine is the big ticket item obviously. I'd probably sell it with inlet manifolds and bolt ons but sell the exhaust manifold and turbo separately. Wife says this afternoon "Why don't you keep it as a project?" Wait, what? Who are you?
  11. Farkin updates. Last round resulted in both our laptops no longer working with our ultra wide monitor (but fine with standard resolution stuff). Talked my laptop into it again, but no luck with the wife's laptop.
  12. No worries. Have bought a few things from you guys and service and price has always been excellent. I expect I'll be sniffing around for a pump and injectors for the FG soon [emoji3]
  13. Getting back on topic, I just got a notification that my Monza cooler has been delivered.for the FG. Originally bought one for the BA as the stock one is tiny. Then the car died, and the supplier said they could swap it for an FG one. Given I'm unlikely to aim any higher than 320ish, the Monza should be fine for me. It's twice the capacity of stock so should help a bit. The quality of the BA one looked fine, but I'll hang onto the stock FG cooler just in case.

  16. Morning everyone. Quick question. Bought a dirt cheap USB cable on eBay. Came with a free mint. Should I eat it? I'm leaning towards yes, but happy to take other views.
  17. I was pointing out my for sale BA, agreeing with the comment of turbo BAs hitting the arse end of the market. I've dealt with my fair share of time wasters in the past couple of weeks. Sorry I didn't mean I had a cooler for sale! It's factory. It is a fair point though that some people make recommendations on what they've heard is the best or what a workshop talked them into. Not everyone needs 6000cc injectors and a custom stainless exhaust - it's horses for courses. Keith usually knows his stuff though!
  18. Yep staying strong - turned down swaps for an unregistered AU SR. LOLs for days. A few people seem serious, but I reckon I'll start parting it out next week if I don't get anywhere over the weekend.   23. Good work - it is a nice bit of kit. Even just being able to see the crap tune in the BA and sort it and then confirm the good tune in the FG was heaps useful for me and cost effective. The stock file database is pretty sweet too. I'll probably be a bit quiet on the tuning front for a bit because I'm back to square one on the hardware front - need to install wideband, boost gauge, trans cooler, intercooler, brakes, etc. Plus a tuned FG feels pretty quick right now, so need to adjust to that before looking for a bit more!
  24. Arron means use no 1 for the rpm signal, not to cut cylinder 1
  25. Totally normal for the reading to be lower at idle and higher with some revs. If you sit there an neutral and flick the throttle, you'll see the pressure rise and then drop again. Not sure why it would have been constant before that.
