  1. Everyone I know drops the cradle to do diff bushes including me. Im unaware Ford had a tool to do them in the car and couldn't see how it would be possible. Happy to be proven wrong though. Some guys on this forum have changed only the rear diff bush without dropping the cradle by putting a large hole in their spare wheel well but I wouldn't recommend it. The quotes you have sound about right.
  2. Lots of cars are a bit laggy atm in this heat.
  3. Gun besides the surge tank do you also run a bigger in tank pump like the Walbro or is the intank pump stock ?
  4. Good bit of info Luke.
  5. I have a ba with a 4'' dump and twin 2.5'' xforce cat back and it sounds nice. 3.5'' dump is usually better for the street depending on your ultimate HP goal .
  6. N/a is more than likely to have the small rods even in fg ,may aswell buy the gas engine with big rods and higher compression if using e85. Pretty sure your tuner Rapid had previously done this on a G6et quite a while ago with good results.
  7. That's pretty cheap for a built glide and Dominator stall convertor , Whats this guys name and his location.? Does he have any trans cred yet ?
  8. Date smashers ?
  9. Didn't the seller give you any info on the car when you purchased it ?
  10. I would not give it a hard time until you get a retune and re adjust some parameters to suit the new hardware, otherwise at 18lb on the old tune it may GRENADE.
  11. Did you connect all the coil pack and cam phaser plugs back in after refitting the rocker cover ?
  12. Powerglide parts are interchangeable between the 6 and 8cyl boxes. Expensive Daewoo 6 and 8 boxes had unboltable bellhousings and the chev box had the all in one cast bellhousing which still could be cut off and a new housing bolted on. There are also aftermarket cases such as Reid ( I think that's the name) but these are expensive. You can get different ratio 1st gear set for these boxes ,I think from memory the 6 had a 1.7x first gear and the 8cyl had a 1.82 first gear ratio.
  13. You need to do some more reading. What you are trying to achieve is not possible .
  14. Gee there is going to be some very surprised people when they pull up next to this at a set of lights. Please tell me its gona get modded and tuned. Top job.
  15. Two weeks is an old joke on this forum that started in the early days with Capa and APS.
  16. There are coolant lines on the turbo which have copper rings to seal them. Also there are about 4 or 5 welsch plugs on the turboside of the engine block that can also corrode and leak. There is also a bypass pipe on the back of the waterpump (turboside) which is sealed with a o-ring and is common place for coolant loss on these cars.
  17. Upping the shift pressure on a box already failing will not help it. Gearbox calibration when the first tune was done with a good trans would of been the way to do it.
  18. He probabley got offerd a factory test engine,ie dyno, development or similar mule.
  19. Yeah but I think you still used the ba/bf intake and the bigger turbo but the op is using all fg gear except the zf and will probably use a fg style tune in the ba ecu.
  20. Be good to hear how well this turns out with the fg tune in the ba with the 4speed auto. Should turn out well.
  21. Don't use gasket goo.You need to use silastic or a similar bonding sealant for the diff cover and make sure both surfaces are clean and dry.
  22. Check your PCV vacuum line hasn't come off from a lean backfire and check your inlet manifold gasket as Ratter said.Probabley your root cause to the problem.
  23. How much were the plenums going for guys ?
  24. You should be able to drive to your tuner without any problem but I certainly would not drive hard or punish it until the fuel system and tune is optimised.
