  1. Yeah I'll ask him again tomorrow I heard back from Stewart at Xtreme; he recommends their twin plate organic for up to and around 700 flywheel hp, so say 520kw which would be 480-490rwkw. He says it has a nice light pedal - tbh I'd prefer something that felt like it could take a whoopin - and smooth engagement; increased gear noise "under labouring conditions, say accelerating in 4th from low speeds" The plates don't have sprung centres, can't remember if that's something the npc has? could well be mistaken
  2. Yep did see that one... would prefer not to get something so crucial off ebay but you can't beat it for dollar value Thx for the contact, I'll flick him an email.
  3. Because approx $650 more Yeh for sure often cheaper = actually more but not always the case, don't think it is here. You bought an xtreme ceramic, I bet npc makes a more expensive ceramic? And you seem pretty happy with it. Convo last night went something like this: Discussing plans for outdoor entertaining area, other costs etc Wife: "so the ute is finished, isn't it" Me: "errr...well. Not really...Clutch is pretty shagged ay" Wife: (Look of absolute disbelief) "I thought you got that done years ago!" Me: "Yeah..turns out it wasn't that great" (silently cursing previous tuner's strong recommendations and my ignorance) Wife: "So how much to replace it?" Me: "Well...2500-3000" Wife: Silence, shoulders sag. Me: Silence. Guilt. lol these cars will always be 'the other woman'
  4. 2000 for the xtreme organic is incl gst, I also got a price of 1680 + gst for the ceramic Not worried about whether the xtreme organic has the balls, more whether anyone who fitted it had any issues The guy who I have lined up to supply and install it does npc all the time and likes their setup He hasn't fitted an xtreme before, but knows all the differences between the two, couple of small tech details he preferred the npc - don't ask me what exactly, I don't remember He's more than happy to fit the xtreme, but I'm treading carefully, mainly because of this thread http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/41540-which-clutch/ and the sh*tfight it turned into...
  5. That's cos u like to kick it sideways in fifth lol You're probably right, just seems a bit of overkill/overspend when it will hardly be on e85, the npc single plate is proven and more than enough for my 98 tune But I don't want to do this again either, so.... I guess question is will I regret paying the extra $1K for the twin plate more than I would regret not paying it Which I guess is where the Xtreme twin plate organic comes in $2000 flat, rated to 525rwkw Can anybody on here comment on them?
  6. This seems the most relevant and recent thread... My clutch is not coping at all after the retune so I need to make some choices. 95% of my driving is fairly moderate, just daily duties, but need something to take the abuse when it's called for. Thought I didn't have much choice other than decent duty twin plate, but bamk2f6tornado's post below made me think again. I'll be running 98 tune at least 75% of the time, 382rwkw e85 438rwkw will be fun tune only So far have npc single and twin plate organic options, and ACS/Xtreme twin plate organic Would be interested to know what sort of cars are running high 400s with the single...I'm guessing that it would cope a lot better with say the power of an NA v8 than midrange of a 450+ xr6T? Any thoughts?
  7. WPMO Clutch slip
  8. Changed oil and filter, fuel filter, cleaned earls turbo filter, diff oil, cleaned and re oiled k&n pod. Note oil is full synth 10w40 cos word is these motors luuuurve dat sh*t lol Then dropped it off at CMS with 2 jerrys of e85 for new tune and built tail shaft
  9. $165.... yeh kpm also And I checked my emails...relay was actually 135 not 120.... All jokes aside, what other regs and plug and play relays are available off the shelf? and how much Admittedly my research wasn't up to scratch They had what I needed so I lined up and bent over
  10. You're right it's pricey Bought it because I didn't know any better Nothing special, pic of it in the following link: http://www.kpmauto.com/tabid/223/ProductID/248/Default.aspx
  11. I'm also running an intank 460, got as replacement drop-in unit cos too lazy to swap pump only Needed new relay as well as reg, relay was approx $120 from KPM from memory
  12. Having my own 18 month old little bloke and hearing that I feel gutted Burnt alive FFS Not something u can truly empathise with until you have your own imo As fluff says you would do it without question
  13. I feel your pain NHASP Where I am is an absolute black spot also...mobile broadband 16GB/month max, and 400kb/sec if you're lucky... Guy a street or so over gets absolutely NOTHING. zilch. Nada.
  14. where is f6mark lol
  15. What are you getting gaz - also a dcs twin plate or something else? Bit of a thread hijack but has anybody got any feedback or experience with mantic clutches? Another tuner did the earlier work to my ute and installed a twin plate mantic, not sure of model and a little bit reluctant to ask for details 3-4 years down the track as no longer using them and haven't been able to locate paperwork So far seems to be holding up ok, but I treat it reasonably well And power be going up soon
  16. Get together at the inlaws recently Eye fillet on the weber...flavour dot com
  17. Guys Tossing up what to do about a tail shaft for my FG manual ute Currently running around 360rwkw on 98 but will be getting the tune finalised in the next few weeks and with an eflex tune hope to be pushing into low 400s Tailshaft is currently stock; as is the rest of the rear end, ride height all stock too. I've owned since new ('08) and give it a good flogging when the need arises, but I'm generally fairly easy on it around town Usually I make an effort to keep it all smooth as possible - ease it into gear, little bit of throttle on downshifts etc etc... basically to eliminate the amount of lash/clunk/whatever that seems to come as standard with these cars. If driven like that then it's smooth as. (True story) But giving it a few hard shifts WOT 3-4 the other night - could definitely feel it there more, CVs did not seem to like it too much Tried to do a bit of searching on here but couldn't seem to pin down any threads regarding tail shaft issues in manual utes in particular - not due to power anyway, plenty of issues from lowering Point is, power will be going up and it won't be getting any better, so I've basically decided to go ahead with an upgrade, question is, what's best option? I know CMS will supply and install upgraded trail shaft for $1550, waiting to hear back from them what brand/supplier and what they're rated to. Pricewise I think 1550 is more than fair if it's say a 1000hp rated shaft and balancing issues don't rear their head. Common complaint seemed to be was massive increase in NVH with the change from CV to uni type joints From memory this was all in auto utes or sedans or manual sedans though so not sure if/how relevant Is this likely to be more/same/less of an issue in a manual ute? Options and opinions please
  18. "For far too long Australians have treated Bali and It's People like second class citizens. It is not an extension of our country and we have no right to treat it that way." You mean by tourists visiting the country in droves and spending huge amounts of coin? Or maybe aid given for natural disasters and terrorist attacks?
  19. Or a struggle to the death when they weren't expecting it...maybe even take out a few indos
  20. ^^^^ right on the money
  21. Yeah I will never sign up / give an actual cent to anybody who comes to my door Why? Can't bring myself to trust them. Especially when they start their spiel "Oh I don't need your details" "Not here for your money" bullsh*t. Which soon turns into "can only sign you up and/or take donations today" Same goes for people who ring up. If it's a charity I want to support, then I ask them to send me a form and details in the post, and I can make a donation. Only ones who have ever followed through and sent me a form were the rural firies and I was more than happy to deposit a donation

Bit of a thread hijack But gotta thank this thread for getting me off my arse at lunchtime today Was reading it and got me going, pushed out a solid 20min back workout in the little gym me and my brother and mates have set up on the mezzanine of our workshop next door over the years Now married with a kid and been 12-18 months since I've set foot in there Feel better for it already - deadlifts FTW!!!
