  1. Koni/Bilstein shocks are great and top quality gear, but the best result we have achieved in terms of a ride/handling compromise was the fitment of Tein Adjustable Coilover package, with EDC box. Simply remove all your stock crap and fit these units, AS WELL AS.... fitting the appropriate camber/castor kits and nolathane bushes up front. Contrast over Koni/Bilstein was huge, and the cost wasnt much different. You really dont need the control box, but if you're getting these shocks, its great fun to have an in-cabin adjustablilty facility and has great waank value too... Guess it all boils down to what makes you happy after all.. Mal K
  2. Just a word of warning... Theres bushes and theres bushes.... Doing a fair amount of suspension work has given us an understanding of the different types/brands of bushes. As a rule of thumb, the Nolathane and Whiteline product has proven more durable and long lasting in certain applications, whereas the Noltec has succumbed to hard use and broken/split/crumbled more readily. The Noltec stuff is usually cheaper so may just be a case of you getting what you pay for. Each brand also had a different hardness rating so shop around a bit before you get a particular brand, may make a difference in performance and longivity. Just my experiences... Then again, rubber bushes are usually the most expensive of all... Mal K
  3. We have fitted lots of camber/castor adjustable kits and get great results replacing the bushes on the upper arm. Not just having the facility for adjustment but those sloppy rubber top arm bushes are just not up to it. Each little bit helps, especially with tyres approaching $450-500 apiece... Have seen Falcons with as little as 5000km and rooted front tyres..... Hmm... Warranty you cry....Hmm... good luck getting any joy..!!
  4. Great first days result for Ford, tomorrow it gets more serious.... Lets sit back and enjoy the racing..
  5. We have fitted King springs to a customers TTG, these springs kept the ride height as per factory but took away alot of the rock'nroll that you get with standard springs. Unable to get a specific spring rate from the supplier, just the usual 25-30% increase in spring rate. Will measure the next set we do and check standard spring rate to directly compare apples with apples. Hope this info is useful. Cheers, Mal K
  6. So who's using Snyper....?
  7. Sorry dudes, Was in old skool mode, that PCD applies to the prehistoric Falcon.... Just showing my age that's all... he he he.. If all fails check with a wheel manufacturer and buy from someone good and proven such as Simmons Wheels etc, not a crap ass Indo wheel maker, melting down a few frypans and coke cans... Have seen a few examples crack from normal use and one explode during motorsport use... All of a sudden that bargain basement wheel wasnt so cheap...!
  8. Dude, Im pretty sure that the PCD is the same as current Falcon 5 x 120mm, as for offset Im not sure. Ive looked at our TTG and it "seems" like the factory 18's may fit over the big brakes fitted to F6x. Whatever wheels you choose, make sure they have a load rating at least equal to the factory wheel, for safety and insurance purposes. The Territorys are heavy beasts. Hope this helps. Mal K
  9. Im glad I wasn't holding off a TurboTerry purchase waiting for that particularly lame effort. Its just too stock looking and basically boring. No doubt they will still sell as there will always be those purchasers who want the top of the wozza product, but it is still too dull, regardless of the value-for-money equation. Guess we will persist with our '07 TTG and upgrade things like the brakes and give the ol girl more mumbo... IMHO not enough differentiation.... Mal K
  10. Hi all, Have just done 1000km in my new TTG, and am finding the brakes not as good as my old Typhoon. Checked with suppliers and they have no official listing for the TT front... I reckon its the same pad as used in the old performance BRAKING package, with the C6 caliper.. DBA 7599... Im going for the Ferodo DS2500, as per Typhoon. In the Phoon, after 18k there was still at least 70% remaining. Pedal feel was great and they didnt punish the rotors as the factory Textars did. Shall let u know after my shoulder heals and I can work again....
  11. Yes, they are a clever bunch of bastidges... Came second in a couple of wars but brilliant engineers/innovators nevertheless..
  12. I was hoping to give the her a little more rear driving feel, more like my recently departed F6. An XR8 centre with 3.46 ratio would be perfect. It will have to wait for a few weeks, my shoulder reconstruction isnt healed yet, but I reckon it would be a worthwhile experiment. Whin Mitsubishi developed their all-wheel drive Magna/Verada, they didnt fit rear LSD'S as they reckoned the cost of developing a specific calibration that wouldnt upset the ABS/4WD operation would be excessive, given the number of vehicles they anticipated selling. Coming from a company on the bones of their arse, it probably made economic sense. They termed the interference the LSD would cause "increased cross talk". Still, the 4WD Magnas were a neat, capable drive, brilliant in the wet and on loose surfaces like gravel..
  13. Shirtloads, every efi system used today is made under licence to good 'ol Robert Bosch.. clever German bastidges... he he he..
  14. Hi Zap, Thanx for the leads, I will pursue this further. The factory option sets you back almost $900 and Im imagining the "special" Bosch ABS unit wont be cheap either. Still, it would be an interesting exercise after all. I'd believe that most of the hardware would be in place, so whats the key difference in ABS control unit??? Time and some research will tell.. Mal K
  15. HI folks, anyone gone down the path of fitting a rear LSD to their Terry?? Im keen to know if this freaks out the ESP and causes any secondary issues before I attempt it myself. I was going to fit an entire diff assembly rather than convert my own, but would rather make sure that I didnt cause more issues by doing so. Ive had a good look and the diff centre looks identical to other BA/BF Falcons and seems No more difficult to r & r than a normal Falc.. Thanx guys! Mal K
  16. Hi all, A more technical/software based question.... Im looking at what constitutes Fords HDC option, is it more than a additional switch and programming issue? Using the appropriate tuning tools, are we able to switch on the HDC programming OR are there more hardware requirements?? Hmm... Mal K
  17. Hey dude, Best of luck with the conversion, we all know these missiles are dreadfully underbraked, so any improvement would be most welcome! I converted my BA2 Typhoon to Territory rears ages ago, and they made a significant improvement, along with Ferodo DS2500 pads. I found the Ford Textar factory pads noisy, damn hard on rotors and wore out fast. Just pulled the Ferodo 2500's out and with 18k of use, they still had at least 70% remaining. The pedal feel and better retardation these pads offer are great value for money. Do let us know how you go mate! Mal K
  18. You will find that the adaptors were primarily intended for external oil cooler fitment, its a great bonus when you want to access engine oil for pressure/temp etc..
  19. Get it scanned for electronic faults, if none start usual checks, fuel pressure, spark and so on it goes.. :-)
  20. Well after 23 months and 8 ( eight! ) diff centers, the last one being a blueprinted custom build with all new internals, I have given up on the 3.73 ratio and have asked Ford to fit an all new, as opposed to Dana rebuilt exchange diff center, but with the much quieter 3.46 ratio. It has been a long and arduous path with each exchange unit proving noiser that the previous one. I'd hazard a guess and confirm that the good old 3.73 is just a noisy whiny bastidge of a ratio, much like the 3.90 ratio that the Olden boys use in their vehicles. My experience with the 3.46 has proven much happier and I can only hope that the unit I get will be effective and quiet.. My Ford dealer have done their utmost to solve this problem, much to their credit and no complaints there. Heres hoping things work out well. Mal K
  21. If you want a nice quiet LSD, stick to the factory offering, otherwise you will have to put up with its inherently noisy operation, I haven't experienced a "nice quiet" Kaaz diff yet, but boy do they work and last and last. Series 3 Mazda RX7 with over 300 rwhp and 5 years of motorsport use and the damn thing worked a treat... Just my experiences... Im sure its damn strong!!! Isnt that what you want? :-)
  22. Remember, Motec is a stand alone engine management system, that's all it does and isnt concerned with all those things we take for granted in our road cars eg Controlling A/C, Body Control issues and lighting, etc etc Its highly configurable and makes no pretense about rivalling manufacturers systems, which do everything. If all you are about is setting up your car to do a specific role, usually motorsport in its many and varied shapes and forms, then it makes perfect sense. Look around you and you will now see just how much teams are using data logging and analysis to do that one thing, Go Faster... Motec's I2 Data Logging function allows you to do exactly that, make the car and driver better and faster... Try that with your Unichip piggyback.. :-)
  23. We have had experience with a variety of suspension types, from GTI-R Pulsars, various WRX's and BA/BF Falcons, early Escorts, and types as diverse as HKS, Teins, Drummond, Bilstein, Koni, Monroe etc etc.. BY FAR the cheapest in construction and execution were the G4's, in the platform adjustable type of strut. They also proved to be of poorer quality, doing things like sagging and not happily holding given alignment settings, also exhibiting thread galling when being height adjusted... It just goes to show that you get EXACTLY what you pay for.

    New Brakes

Having used the factory Premium Brake Package on my two XR6t's and now my F6, its clear that anything more than a couple of hard stops sees a big reduction in performance, even when I upgraded the rears to the Territory package with DS2500 Ferodo all round. If you are serious about strong repeatable fade free brake performance, nothing I have driven bar the Factory Brembos have proven to be much chop. I'd love to sample the AP/Wilwood products that are available. Damn it, you're trying to pull up close to two tonnes of Ford and the factory offerings have proven barely adequate time and again. Just my experiences with my vehicles guys... I wish I had a lazy$5-6k for some real stopping power, you know, that face on the dashboard lock up the inertia reel type of retardation... Mal K
  25. Glad to see someone getting the damn thing out without cutting and shutting!! We managed to remove a customers by cutting the pipe right next to the weld at the muffler, on the pipe side and lo and behold the core plug just twisted and was coaxed thru the main muffler. Simple matter to then reweld the pipe without having to realign the flange and muffler. Food for thought.... and it made the TT sound better but not too much louder. Mal.
