TyphoonTwin-Plate probably has the best pedal pressure for daily commuting, as any factory clutch has to remain user friendly. Kinda vague as to the exact friction point is but certainly handles punishment. Mal Wood Option 3 has a much firmer pedal, doesnt slip and had a definite friction point, making consistent quick take-offs repeatable and relatively easy, holding on right up to 350+rwkw.. depends what you are after..
  2. Hi dudes, I realise that these driveline vibrations are chronic, as is diff whine and noise.. I do believe I hold the record for diff replacements, now up to my fifth Dana exchange unit. The sad thing is that my very first diff was, in hindsight, the best with minimal backlash and only a slight diff whine at about 98-100km/h. Each unit subsequently fitted has proven to have been either very backlashy and clunky or as whiny as a plane load of Poms or both. Im in the process of getting it sorted out. The Ford Dealership in Midland WA have really tried to sort the problems out and I take my hat off to them, its just the warranty structure that makes sorting these things out slow, cumbersome and very time consuming. Heres the best bit, since the second T-56 replacement, there is heaps of noise and vibration resonating thru the gear shifter. FPV do have a modified shifter and bush but are not able to tell me when I will get it????? Only been 5months now... Im at a loss as to how they could do business that way... Surely someone has to know?? I do hope to get these problems sorted as apart from those issues, I absolutely love my F6. Heavy on tyres but that comes with the territory I guess.
  3. To fit a towbar does indeed require a bit of cutting but if you buy the factory tow bar, there is a nice little piece that fits neatly around the cut in the rear apron, and is the right colour to boot. On the inside of the apron is a neat marking that shows you exactly where to cut. I have the bar but as yet havent fitted it, been too busy with other stuff. Ive seen non-genuine tow bars and they are pretty crappy in design and execution. Factory bar cost bout $280ish. You can get a plug-in harness that allows you to have a flat cable and plug that lives in the boot and slides out under the boot lip when you tow..
  4. Maybe factory blow-off valve leaking boost ?.... Perhaps try disconnecting it as some have already done.. I guess its worth a go and may well be safer than some of the other tests you have already tried. Mal
  5. I still reckon Id feel more comfy with a recognised tuner, someone with an actual mechanical background, handling the tune on my car... Id hate to see it damaged that way. Guess its time to do some homework and decide where to spend my hard earned splash.. Lotsa kw's and safe tune state works for me..
  6. Guys, Im considering fitting a Ballistic Cat into my standard F6 exhaust, eliminating the most restrictive part of the system while retaining the rest. Surely this will allow me to make more power without discarding the rest, keeping the largely factory look. A retune will be undertaken straight after fitment so has anyone had any experiences, good or bad?? Thanx Mal K
  7. As far as alignments go, stick to someone who has good equipment and ability and is genuinely interested in doing a good job. Any alignment takes at least an hour and should be checked before adjustment and again later after a good drive. Remember that each alignment is unique and can be tailormade to suit your application ( street use, club motorsport, drags etc etc) so tell the guy what you want and they should be able to recommend the most appropriate settings. Word of mouth is usually the best way, bitter experience is another.. Mal K
  8. Fitting the Territory rears makes sense, works with factory master cylinder and proportioning, its a bolt in fit and helps braking noticably. Try and work any Turbo's brakes hard and the fronts go out to lunch, bigger rears take the work from the fronts and help them last longer b4 disappearing. Ive now fitted DBA Slotted fronts and DS 2500 pads, better fluid and the brake performance is hugely better. Cheap (ish) improvements. Old Lightning Larry Perkins used to set his race cars with as much rear brake bias as they would take, therefore preserving the fronts as much as possible... Make sense?? Mal PS Fitting the DBA rotors makes financial sense, heaps cheaper than Gen Ford components...Not too heartbroken if the distort and crack.. he he he

Im about to fit BF Territory rear rotors and calipers to my BA2 F6, along with the correct backing plates and was hoping to maintain the stock appearance. After hunting around and a bit of trial and error, in my opinion, the closest easy heat resistant match would have to be the VHT Drum and caliper aerosol paint in, of all things Bright Blue.. I had visions of a nice ricey flouro blue but after cleaning and priming the calipers with VHT Black, the colour worked out perhaps a little darker than stock but close enough not to be too out of place. Hopes this helps out a little... Mal
  10. Would anyone have managed to increase the time before the auto-down function on the drivers door switch cuts in, it would be nice to be able to lower the window for longer before it hits the automatic full down mode. Is it in the switch itself or a function of the ECU? Any help would be great.. Thanx!
  11. Sorry for the slow reply, been away from the machine.. I simply listen for whines ( yeah duh... he he) and clunking when driving slowly in 2nd and 3rd, not getting on and off the gas hard, its usually quite apparent in manuals, less so in autos as the converter tends to smooth things out a little. In ANY new vehicle there sould be only a very slight backlash evident, if you can clearly hear it then it is not acceptable. First few diffs whined about 80-90km/h, second last one was totally silent but backlashed like hell and the latest incarnation has lasted bout 2000km before whining between 105-120kmh then again around 180km/h. If other makers can have silent diffs with negligable backlash then Ford should too.. To their credit they are making a good fist of sorting this one out... as they should... Now for the modified FPV shifter, new centre bearing and all the clutch hydraulics and all shoud be well I hope... Fingers and everything else crossed.. MJK
  12. OK guys, Im now onto my 4th replacement diff... all the others have proven to be noisy or really really backlashy... any suggestions?? This warranty stuff must be costing Ford $$$$$ Mal.
  13. Top post edited ← that's it!!!! Im taking my technologically advanced bat and Im going home...
  14. Hi everyone, I have a brilliant santa suit and the piece de resistance, a GENUINE Dennis Lillee aluminum cricket bat... sounds the goods and is useable in water he he he.. On a more serious note, lets set a date so we have something to work towards.... Or have I missed the boat again... Mal K
  15. Hey J, That would be nice.. I was just working on a visually standard application, one that would pass as stock on cursory examination, not a full on inspection! As for the injectors, YES indeed!! One can never have too much go-factor mate!
  16. It seems easy to fit an aftermarket Hi-Flow cat... but has anyone managed to do a stealth mod by successfully fitting one under the stock heatshielding...?? Like the best of both worlds... more flow with a completely stock appearance...?

Ive used Ferodo DS2500 pads in my phoon and V8 Capri and they have proven excellent for road AND track work, showing no rotor wear in the Capri at all..
  18. Yep, it has been a while dude..! F6 giving me lots of pleasure despite few niggling issues (Rattly gearbox and sticky clutch and whiny diff..) in short the usual Falcon woes so nothing unexpected there. The latest Kreiky Tune still working well within the parameters of all the stock hardware, frying rear bags halfway thru 1st and all of second with the TC off so I cant really complain at all. Mind you, the Dunlops are getting a mite low at the rear so the next FPV/FRSC Hillclimp at Barbagallo might have to be on the cards. Have to arrange a gathering @ my place...?? Give it some thought..!
  19. Give it a few days and it should settle down nicely.. Shame you didnt fit some Bilsteins and springs while you were at it.. Every bit helps in the handling stakes ;-) MJK
  20. Heres a new one... Enjoying my F6 recently when the diff breather tube came adrift from its cosy little hole in the rear crossmember.... A smal problem you say..Hmmm... At warp speed the air passing over the end of the tube neatly drained the diff oil and kindly sprayed it on the now quite hot rear muffler... Yes folks, lots of evil smelling smoke and a few frayed nerves... Its a good thing the diff is due for its second replacement in 17k, due to persistent whining (not the missus this time... he he ) Anyone experience the same?? Mal K
  21. shazzy, We're in for tomorrow, pls send me your address and we will take it from there mate..
  22. Hi guys, Sorry to have missed the Pre-Xmas Cruise, but I ended up O/S and unfortunately missed out... Much better news though, I picked up my new F6 Typhoon two days ago and would love the chance for all to check it out (Not named yet...) Only 120km on the clock.. Stay safe and have a brilliant Xmas and new to everyone... Be good or be careful or maybe both... Mal K
