  1. Yeah she tried to beat the 10min mark but couldn't quite do it. Amazing stuff in a Transit. I think she owns a restaurant or similar close to the track somewhere.
  2. If you are going to the ring then you have to see Sabine Schmitz (Queen of Nurburgring). She drives the Ring Taxi (M5) and you can pay to go with her. I've always wanted to go but haven't yet. Check out this site and see her video and other Nurburgring info. She's like my hero. http://www.jwhubbers.nl/ring/sabine/index.php
  3. Thanks for that ZAP. Guess not all I've read relates to Australian units. Thanks for the info.
  4. Sorry not the best selection of words. Didn't think anyone would look at it that closely. It does use a laser beam at a slight angle across the road and registers the speed of any car that passes by (the system makes a mathematical adjustment to account for the angle of view). If you've driven past one with a radar detector you'd see what I mean. That's what I'm led to beleive.
  5. Ok just a little bit of info I was told today. Not sure how accurate it is but we'll have to wait and see, unless someone else here can confirm. The Turbo motor will be an option available in more variants of the new Orion I.e Fairmont etc. There is going to be a release of some information on the 17th of Feb but what that is isn't clear. The official release is in March. The new turbo motor will be considerably more powerful than the current one, I'm told more than the current Typhoon. Also the power and torque figures stated for the Turbo Orion are concervative to protect the sales of the XR8. I can't wait for this car. Hurry up Ford.
  6. Had the same problem with my BA. It requires most of the dash being removed to replace the shaft as what has been said previously. The only problem is alot of people that've had this repair done say the dash squeaks like a b*tch afterwards.
  7. The radar beam is directed out the side of the vehicle and measures the time it takes you to cut the beams, so as long as you aren't speeding as you pass it your fine. This AU that people see around the Sydney area is the same car used in Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Central Coast areas. Not sure why they haven't updated yet. Mustn't have enough kilometers or costs too much to do the conversion into a new car.
  8. Having rough edges is definately not the ideal situation for a performance engine although having chrome intake runners isn't either. Turbulance may be good for better atomisation of the fuel but will restrict the overall power able to be made. The best solution is to have semi smooth sufaces allowing fast airflow and use a correctly selected injector with the right spray pattern.
  9. I'm pretty sure you can mod the car to allow the Aux lights to come on with the headlights rather than the indicators. The first model BA Fairmont Ghia's had them on all the time when the headlights were on. This was how the car was sold. Ford then issued a TSB to have all cars modified to only turn them on with the indicator. This was because ADR incorrectly passed the car when first released. Probably best not to have them on with the headlights all the time though. Police can issue you with a defect.
  10. If you do machine them they are best left on the car and machined in place. This will make sure they are straight and true. I bought DBA's rather than machine them.
  11. I haven't seen anyone in that vid that looks remotely like a pro dancer. Just a bunch of drunk bitches. Don't think they'r on the gear, just pissed. Doesn't look like a place I'd frequent.
  12. Just some related info people might be interested to know. I'm responsible for the maintenance of the High Voltage network within the company I work for. The sound that you hear when near overhead lines is the electricity tracking to earth usually across the insulators at each pole. This is of no concern to the general public or safety and is usually more apparent when raining due to the reduced resistances. Just a little annoying I guess. Transmission voltages around Australia vary depending on areas and the distance electricity needs to be transported. Most common voltages are 500kv 330kv, 132kv, 33kv and 11kv. Your higher voltages like 33kv and above are usually installed on the higher towers allowing greater distance from the public, trying to prevent contact with them. Your lower voltages below 33Kv are mounted on your general power poles which you'll see in alot of urban streets. High Voltage feeders can also be installed in the ground. I find it hard to believe that High Voltage lines cause any sort of cancer due to emf but I haven't spent alot of time studying this. The low frequency radiation from our electricity isn't enough to cause cells within the body to deform or become cancerous. High frequency devices like microwaves and cell phones may be a different story. Only time will tell with those I guess. I think the main concern you would have with purchasing a property with transmission lines within view is, like a few have already said, your resale value.

    Brake Fade

So you have standard sized rotors but dba 4000's? If so you may need to go bigger for heavy track work. What track are you refering too? Maybe other people on hear can give you there experiences at this venue.
  14. I would expect the under bonnet temps to rise without doubt. Whether this effects performance or not is another thing, doesn't seem like it from what others here have said. Heat sheilds are a good thing for keeping surrounding things cooler. Maybe Brian could shed some light on the reason why he installed one on his after market exhaust manifold.
  15. As said the ds2500's are the go. I had Bendix a while ago and threw them away after two weeks, think they may have changed the compound now though. Got the Ferodos and great stuff.
  16. The Nut, If your just after something not too expensive and good for street use then you can't go wrong with DBA 4000's. I used ferodo pads on mine and had great fade resistance and was plenty good enough for the street. If you wanna do track days then I would suggest installing bigger brakes.
  17. If price isn't an issue then plazmaman or Process West would be two kits that'd be hard to go wrong with. I'd be very keen to see how Rapid's would go with over 400. Seems like such a cost effective option and nicely put together.
  18. Can you purchase one of those surge tanks from process west and install your 044 onto that still leaving your standard one in service? They cost around $615.
  19. 220kw will see this little bad boy get up quite nicely I'd say. I'm impressed.

    Xr6t To Xr6

Does anyone know the fine for driving a turbo car on your P's? Even if it's not alot, insurance is a big concern if you do happen to smash it.
  21. I didn't change the guide bolt or shims when I changed my pads and I've been through three sets now.
  22. I'm having the same issue. Dam double click.
  23. My thought would be along the lines of a gearbox or engine mount aswell. If it changes when you turn then something is shifting with the weight transfer. What ever is shifting could then be coming in contact with the floor pan possibly and transfer vibration through the car. Could be wrong though.
  24. Pfffttt just a few suspension changes. Rather wait for the new model. If it had another 30kw then maybe catch my interest.
  25. Sounds like a good idea to me. Then just add the APS twin turbo kit and enjoy.
