  1. On 15 March 2014 at 73000 Km I got myself some new tyres... The old tyres still had plenty of rubber left... But the noise started to get to me. Sounded like bad wheel bearings. After doing some "Research" I got myself a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 - 235/45R17 Made in Germany. $ 223.00 Each fitted. All I can say is HEAVEN on wheels !! And now 8 months later... still very happy.
  2. It's now one month since I but Penrite 70W-75 in to my gearbox. As I keep detailed records, I can now report that fuel use (Litres per 100km) has not changed / gone up. No Noise... Nice gear changes !!
  3. Re, ...do not use copper ones due to that they are renowned for leeks .
  4. NO ! ...jacking the left side up so the Car is at an angle ! Both left Wheels ( N/S) off the ground ( 2 Stands used) By having the Car at an angle you can use the filler plug on the left side (N/S) to fill the Gearbox. No need to remove the Reverse Switch !!
  5. Just done it... Managed to get 5 Litres in to the Gearbox by jacking the left side up so the Car is at an angle ( 2 Stands used) !! Took it for a run... Happy with Gear-Change and Roll-Over noise. The Oil ( Penrite 70W-75 ) looks like Olive Oil. Only Tool needed is a 3/8" T-Bar, or Heavy Duty 3/8" Ratchet to undo Drain/ Filler Plug.
  6. Annealing copper washers makes them soft again so they can do their job. Some people even recommend annealing copper washers before the first time they are used, as storage can cause oxidation hardening.
  7. Just went to one place to get some Penrite Pro Gear 70W-75... $ 70.00 for 2.5 litres Went to Repco... $ 46.00 for 2.5 Litres.... Minus 20% http://www.repco.com.au/CA2571B70016E7AE/OrigDoc/~B865C63C95E002BDCA25770E0021AE33?OpenDocument 5 Litres, $ 73.60 Sales Person ordered 2x 2.5 Litres for me....Will pick it up tomorrow after 8 AM.

  10. Just in.... OCTOBER 20, 2014 7:39AM LOCAL mechanics could soon become extinct and motorists may be forced to pay more for vehicle servicing after the car industry blocked independent repairers from getting access to complete maintenance data and specialist tools to fix modern cars. The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries — the body that represents car companies — has walked away from negotiations with independent repairers and issued its own voluntary code of conduct on car servicing. But the Australian Automobile Association, which represents seven million motorists nationally, says the code threatens to strip away the basic rights of consumers and local mechanics because it blocks access to critical information, computer upgrades and diagnostics equipment. 17. This could be your problem ?? A common problem found in late model (BA-BF) Ford Falcon and Territory ignition switch, is one that causes the ignition key not returning to its correct position after starting. This can cause cutting out or repetitive starts to be required. Also various accessories not to work, power windows, radio, wipers, speedo etc... http://www.stmarysautorepairs.com.au/index.php/ford-ignition-column-repair

  23. Took the Wife's Car to get some stuff at the Jaycar store... Wife told me to fill the car up as well. While filling the car at a Shell Station... I looked to my left and saw a young Woman fill up her new Toyota Corolla with 98. To my right was a young Fellow filling his Black FPV F6 Ute with E10 !!!
  24. Posted 20 May 2014 - 08:52 AM I have been using this stuff in all my cars for many years... My BA MK2 Turbo 6 Speed " loves " the stuff... I also use it in my Diffs. Manual Gearbox and Diff Treatment Nulon G70 Nulon Manual Gearbox and Diff Treatment with PTFE offers maximum lubrication and anti-wear protection to the gear and bearing surfaces of all types of gears (helical, spur and worm drive). Nulon G70 combines a balanced blend of Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) with other extreme pressure and anti-corrosion compounds. Nulon G70 is suitable for use with all synchromesh rings and limited slip differentials. The PTFE particles in Nulon G70 range from .4 to 40 microns. The smaller particles, when subjected to pressure and temperature, impregnate the friction surfaces thus reducing friction and offering residual lubrication and corrosion resistance even during lay-up periods. The larger PTFE particles circulate with the normal gear lubricant and create a cushion between gear surfaces, dramatically reducing gear pitting. This cushioning effect is important in that it reduces noise caused by minor irregularities of mating surfaces which are responsible for the very common "period noise" experienced in differentials. Many modern gearboxes suffer from poor gear shifting when the gearbox is cold. As a result a number of manufacturers are recommending a lighter grade of oil, and in some cases automatic transmission fluid. These lighter grade oils provide superior gear changing at the expense of reduced life of gears and bearings, because the lower viscosity oil does not have the degree of EP (extreme pressure) protection. Nulon G70, due to its EP characteristics, will greatly improve protection as well as dramatically improve gear changes. Note: G70 is suitable for all gearboxes including passenger cars, trucks and industrial gearboxes. G70 is also compatible with, and suitable for use with, automatic transmission fluid and engine oils, where they are the manufacturer's recommended lubricant for manual gearboxes. http://www.nulon.com...t/#.U3qKJdL6uz4
