Upgraded Tailshaft Vibration

Need some help.

I have just fitted an aftermarket upgraded tailshaft from sydney driveline services to my FG XR6 turbo.

The original bolts that hold the tail shaft to the diff, that have the plastic weights could not be used as the uni joint is now too big for me to get the bolts in and the plastic weights.

So I have used some socket head bolts instead.

Now I get a bad vibration at 90km+ under acceleration and deceleration.

Does the tail shaft now need dynamic balancing by Ford?

So you also changed your pinion yoke ...

you say you went to a driveline place? ask them, maybe theres something you missed regarding balanceing etc

also is everything done up tight? etc

A few are finding it hard to get aftermarket shafts right when the pinion yoke set up is changed

Yeah the pinion yoke was changed to a 1350 uni and a flange. I will call my driveline guys and find out what I need to do.

One thing you could try... Seeing as the flange is new I assume its pretty smooth? Your local dealer could try using alloy wheel stick on weights on the outer surface of the flange at the points indicated during the balance procedure... Providing it doesnt need crazy amounts of weights and the weights stick ok it could work... Could also turn the tailshaft one bolt over on the flange until the closest balance point is reached requiring the least weights possible, will be time consuming but could work well...

just out of curiosity is it auto or manual? I've heard the vibration problem stems from the center bearing being to rigid.

Have you upgraded your centre bearing? If so have you made sure the centre height is the same as the oem bearing?

I'd say stick on weights would fly off as soon as you gave it some stick...
