Thanks ptr. Ive been told im somewhat safe but hours will be cut substantially.more time at home sounds nice but less money will be interesting. Pretty sure I will be forced in to holidays very soon so will test the job market.

Maybe cleaning windows at the grt eastn hwy and tonkin lights?

The part that pisses me off is there are people with families and mortgages and this is very real for them.im young and have no debts so I can ride it out.

Brick yard. Housing market in WA is in the toilet. But the industry is very boom or bust and will eventually comeback.

Will be  going back to school part time I think.get some more skills so when you are fighting a hundred people for a job.

C'mon WA Peps, if we all go out and buy 2 pavers each today we can keep Murdock in a Job. He's flying the 10sec flag for us so deserves our support.

*Also please don't get laid off until you've sorted my cheap paver

csb- when I came out of my time in 2001 the mining industry was farked (especially gold and nickel). Took 6 months to find a job and the only role I could get was 6&1 on......$21 sub rate so no sick leave/annual leave/etc etc. Took a good 3 or 4 years to turn around

I wouldn't say its anything new, just people have forgotten what it is like when the economy balances out.

In saying that, wouldn't want to be in the job market right now. It is putting a lot of stress on people that is for sure

All I've ever known in my working life up until now is boom. In the short 6 years I've been in my trade construction jobs have just nosedived and it sucks.
