Valve springs will set you back ~ $800 fitted. 300 - 330 rwkw is the max I would push an a BA motor,

the btr 4 speed will probably need a rebuild if you mod the car. Clutch packs , bands and valve body mods.

Speak to Simon at XFT , you can read about him in the Advertisers section

Cheers! is that 300 - 330kw to the flywheel? how much power stock do they make, im way to used to looking up silvia stuff, where 230HP to the wheels is considered alright, and where 270HP is really good. Never really dealt with power to flywheel or KW's

That will be at the tyres mate. 400ish rwhp. If you really want and auto save up and buy a BF, you'l be spending the difference on gearbox rebuild for the BTR if you buy an A4 BA

depending on the tranny this is my experience on stock cars, bare in mind different shops and dyno's , but a guide none the less

BA BTR 4 speed - 185 rwkw ended up 281 with tranny cooler and valve body mods ran 12's all day

BA Mk 2 Phoon Manual - 212 rwkw

BF Phoon 6 speed auto - 228 rwkw

Rev limit is about 6200 but no redline on the speedo.

Depending on your tune , short shift to keep it in the meat of the torque curve

Cheers for both replies! very appreciated! Well, I really cant see myself chasing more than 330ish RWHP at all. This seems like a very nice amount of power and im guessing it can be fairly fun if need be, but also still sensible on the street? :)

What sort of mods achieve what sort of power?

Exhaust, CAI, Injectors and tune would probably make over 300RWHP wouldnt it? Sorry, again, very used to my silvia and how hard it is to make high power

I loved my BA's, there still great to drive if there looked after and look tough too.

300hp is just a tune away. 400hp is injectors/fuel pump/ cooler/ valve springs. Through a 5" cat in and it might make a touch more. Through an exhaust on, build the tranny with a stally and you'll have an 11second car.

Also my old S14 was making 460rwhp@26psi. I'll build another S14 one day.

Thanks for all the help guys! if I get a BF, I fear it will have to be from over east, where I cant actually see the car. If I get a BA, I can however, get it cheap enough and with under 100 000km's, to probably straight away take it to get valve springs, exhaust and CAI. (how much is it for these 3?) can the 4 speed auto quick shift hold the gears as well to that certain extent? and in general, with the quick shift, what is the rev limit on the xr6T's? will it hit limiter a few times before the computer decides to take over? (drifting aspect in mind, not that I do that, just curous otherwise I suppose its not very manualised) Thanks for the talk about the silvia gearbox, I think that's how I broke it, from constantly shifting from 1, 2, 3, to drive

As Buf said, ~$800 for the valve springs fitted, the CAI is chump change and the exhaust varies depending on what you want to do. Some people spend $2500+ on exhausts. The 4-speed auto is more similar to the Silvia whereas the ZF 6-speed will let you manually shift. It won't let you hold it all the way to the limiter, it changes a few hundred RPM early (~6000 or so with a ~6250 limiter). The idea is that it changes to stop you accidentally damaging the box. Same as it won't let you change down to first at 110km/h when you could theoretically do that in a manual if you so desired.

Every figure you see here will be Rear Wheel KW (rwkw) the exception being when talking about Ford's figures which are at the flywheel. For a rough idea of going from rwkw to flywheel kw and vice versa, a stock FG Falcon is 270kw at the flywheel and people get ~230 to ~250 rwkw. There is a post on here of someone who got 270 rwkw though and it's generally accepted that Ford are pessimistic with their figures so 250+ are common as well.

From my crappy converter, 330 rwhp is ~230 rwkw which you'll make easy with those mods (plus valve springs) and a tune. Using the FG above, your 230 rwkw would be ~260 kw at the flywheel.

I have a BA MKII 340 Rwhp ,check my sig for mods. Im not much of a drop clutch person but if you can find a 6 speed Manual a heavier clutch is probably a good option if your planning modding it.

Go for a BF if you can stretch that far.

330rwhp in a sil is fun and fast, but these cars weigh a sh*t tonne more.

So when you get sick of the 330hp, the BF will be better suited for more power.

The 6spd and 4spd auto's are worlds apart in stock form.

Drive both, and manuals, see what you like.

The 6spd ZF is alot of fun, turbo lag and the torque produced by these engines means clutch kicking isn't really required like with smaller jap engines.

Somebody on here might be able to help you find a BF2 in their area and you could probably pay one of the tuning shops or someone like that to look over it before you get it freighted. You will be better off in the long run and the cost is fairly similar when you compare the cost of a gearbox rebuild the valve springs and the stronger bottom end.

And you can talk in rwkw once you have an XR6T
