There's no difference. All sonic booms from either supersonic or just-getting-to-supersonic travel is the same intensity, it just might be further behind the moving object. If there was scientific evidence that an eskimo was ice fishing badly, then I'd gladly point to that, too. It's up to you to be convinced by it, not me. I couldn't care less if I'm convincing you.
