(have tried to suggest/organise forum groups for Sandown, Phillip Island, Bathurst before and had zero interest/feedback - have even offered catering and accommodation for free. Last one I even offered topless barmaids and there was still no interest.)

 

There used to be (not sure if it's changed) a HUGE veto on any discussion on organising anything that didn't go through a "Cruise Controller" on the forum.

 

Even asking if anyone in the same town wanted to catch up for a drive :S

 

If Keith was a real NAZI and following the rules the he would have warned @mightbuyaford by now that suggesting we head to Bathurst together was something he'd need to vette via a CC

 

(met dags's wrath for the first time when I posted in the SA forum - "am headed to SA next weekend, anyone want to go for a cruise?" - got shot down really, really quick)

 

So yeah - am up for a Bathurst meetup  - send your suggestions (maybe we need a thread?)

Have done it for years.

 

Used to work awesome with FTA and analogue. As soon as it went digital there's a lag (either huge lag or friggin chasm lag) between what we see live and what we see on the screen.

 

Only thing I miss from the changeover from aerial TV to digital TV - no more simulcasts

Yeah, Foxtel Go would be about 1min behind... but still better than no visibility at all.

Enforcement got a bit draconian at times.

 

People were told to "take it to facebook"

Digital has zero synchronisation - 5 different screens would have 5 different timelines

 

Yep - Still awesome for stats and replays and the other side of the track.

 

Bathurst is still FTA so a simple TV dongle gets you back into the real live action

Usual deal is:

 

Post, ask for interest

 

Get 30

 

Sweet, ask for definites (to work out logistics)

 

Get 28

 

Spend a week planning and organising deals for accommodation, routes and meeting points

 

Post up potential itinerary/plans

 

Get 50 commenting and wanting changes

 

Post up secondary/modified plan

 

Get 50 commenting/advising/complaining

 

Post up original plan and remind that deposits need to be made to the hotel if they want a room

 

.....    nothing   .......

 

Remind 

 

.....    nothing    .........

 

Re-evaluate, work out the 6 people that are actually looking to go, redo the schedule, planning and organising for a minimum number

 

Work out where to meet and have a great trip/cruise :D
