masda74 To Loud Gold Donating Members 4,112 Member For: 13y 6m 2d Gender: Male Location: WA, Perth Posted 04/10/14 12:14 PM Share Posted 04/10/14 12:14 PM yes he would get more flow, but when the fuel is really low and you boot it, then all the fuel goes to the rear of the car and then no fuel is sucked in by the pickup.Then without fuel the motor tends to do weird and wonderful things like shot a rod out or something of the sorts.I rather have the surge tank with restricted and guaranteed flow than having the motor lean out and shoot a rod.I am not tuna so maybe I might be misunderstanding the purpose of the surge tank. I've run my tank out a couple times by accident and I can tell you the car just dies. It splatters a little if you try and start it again but it really just let's go like someone turned the ignition off. The way you'd get leaning out and throwing a rod like that would be if your fuel pump system wasn't adequate for the power you had.
