Hmm well I tried this also on the weekend on my 04BAMkII with 66k on the clock. Wasn't too much of a hassle, however not really sure it did too much when I tested it. Although it was 41 degrees on the day...

Oh and cleaned out my throttle body.... oily as...idles much better now.

Just did it with a mate, was actually quite easy not sure what was scared of, although I havent actually checked to see if theres a difference yet (still waiting the 20 minutes for the wd to dry up) will tell you the update later!

WD does not dry and yes it is an easy job.

I was going to post that you just try it, as the worse thing you could do is break the plastic tube on the solenoid or split the hose.

Just finished taking the car for a drive after cleaning the throttle body and the wastegate solenoid.

Didn't seem to make the boost come on any earlyier or any change to the idle (t/body was pretty clean anyway) but it did make a difference while driving slowly and just as it was about to come onto boost there used to be a slight hesitation that is now gone.

That could have been attributed to the soleniod or the small split in the end of the hose where it goes onto the soleniod. either way it is a little nicer to drive now.

All up took a little under 10 minutes to do both.

by the way, my recommendation is to take the soleniod hose off the front of the turbo compressor housing. The fitting is steel so VERY hard to break, in my case was a lot easier to get to and just as effective.

Okay after taking it for a drive noticed the car sounded quieter (wasn't just me noticing this btw :D)

The boost gauge before was sitting just below 5 and now its sitting just above it, although when its changing gears it goes upto 7-10psi (4 speed auto) Turbo seems to be more responsive aswell! (Car has done 105,000kms)

Cheers for this might have to look at cleaning the throttle body next :D

:snf (11):

Just cleaned the solenoid this arv. Made a pretty big difference.

It took longer to get my tools ready than to take the hose off

and clean it. Definatley worth doing. Thanx zap
