I thought it might be a good idea to rate our local Ford dealers, so that we can learn from each other's experiences with them. Then we can all give our business to the dealerships that deserve it too.

So, being from Perth I'll start this one - if others want to start one for your own city, go for it!

My car has only been with me for 3 weeks - so I can't really rate the selling dealer on service costs yet.

Selling Dealer: Lane Ford Mandurah

Feedback:

Lane Ford impressed me one weekend with their service on a problem I had on my EF, so I gave them the chance to quote me for a new BA MkII, then it turned out that the salesman I dealt with was mates with my brother-in-law.

Overall the whole process and deal was great - I highly recommend the salesman - Jason Webster.

After sales service (warranty issues): Lane Ford Mandurah

Feedback:

I haven't had any major issues yet.

Because my car is a new colour, Bionic, they didn't have the touch-up paint bottles in stock when I picked up the car. They arranged a freebie for me as soon as possible. When I picked it up on Saturday morning, they asked me if there were any issues with the car. I mentioned a knocking noise I had been getting from the steering. Straight away they offered to look at it on the spot - a mechanic took it for a drive and heard the noise - got it up on a hoist and tightened everything up - tested it again and the noise is now gone. The mechanic was mature - in his 40's I reckon - not an apprentice. I am very happy with the service so far.

Servicing: Lane Ford Mandurah

Feedback:

Will let you know when the 3,000km inspection has been done (booked in for 26 November)

----------------------------------------

With respect to other dealers - I have not used one for 5 years, doing all my oil/filters/plugs on my EF myself.

In the first 3 years I had it though, both Centre Ford and Challenger Ford were used. I don't know what they are like now, but Centre Ford always used to add on extras after extras and service bills were regularly $300 - $800.

Challenger Ford were just as bad - but they were worse in the competency stakes.

Once after a service I lost a wheel nut on the Freeway at 100km/h !!!

They couldn't even do up my wheel nuts tight enough to stay on!

This was 5 years ago so I won't judge them now on what happened then - but it does make me reticent to use them, even though they are just a 5 minute drive away from me.

----------------------------------------

Feel free to add your own experiences - let's find out who the best dealer is in Perth!!

If you have posted another thread - still leave a few comments and link to it if you like

I walked into Lanes when I was ordering my Tornado. I was chasing quotes, to order that week.. I walked in, stood around for 1/2 an hour and didn't even get asked if I wanted any service.. Pity them.. lost sale opportunity. I was in 'normal' clothes, and sitting in a Pursuit ute for 10 mins.

Sales at Nu-Ford Wangara were pretty good. but like you, I know someone there.. Seems you get a better deal and taken more seriously if you are 'in the know ' with a particular dealer...

When will sales guys ever learn??

Titan Ford in Melville were OK.

Gave in Pretty easy on price once I showed them my 35 Page essay on XR6 Turbos (hehe) and there internet prices throughout Australia..

Got them down from 35999 to 30459...

I recommend them for good pricing but that's about all.

Lets see what happens when I get a service..

NuFord Wangarra...

Servicing was ok but they don't really know much about much. Had a bad experience and the service manager insisted the price for a 45k service was in excess of 400 bucks. I kept my money.

Centre Ford in Northbridge...

Actually interested in my business, haven't had an issue yet and the 45k service cost me 99 bucks... they also got me a new gearbox and radiator with very little effort and prompting. I highly recommend them and the service assistant Matt.

Seaview Ford (clarkson) servicing staff, Stuart and Carl are very helpful with my waranty work and competative pricings. I even got my 2.5l TT soarer repaired with them.

You can't get sued for honest feedback - nothing defamatory has been typed.

What we want here are the positive experiences mainly

Comments I made about what happened 5 years ago are not reflective of today.

In fact I would be surprised if many of the staff at Challenger Ford were still there - I don't know how fast staff turnover is in dealerships. I do know they have a different DP and Service Manager. I know after 5 years at where I work there were only a couple of people still there from my first day.

I'm also glad to hear the general consensus that Centre Ford is good now - working in Subiaco Northbridge is a lot more convenient for me than Mandurah.

Centre Ford - I'd highly recommend them. I bought my car off Dave Sammit. Excellent service.

I actually test drove a Rapid XR6T 6speed auto demo from them yesterday - bloody brilliant. Now I'm considering trading the M6 for the A6.

Decisions, decisions.
